Not a submariner, but I worked on the repair side on a submarine tender. We welded on everything that needed welding on submarines and surface vessels - piping, hull penetrations, sail planes, rudders, steam turbines, pumps, valves, motor shafts, boilers, aluminum boats, etc. Even welded a few aircraft parts while we were deployed in the Indian Ocean during the Iran Hostage Crisis in 1981. The nuke ratings I recall on submarines were Machinist Mates and Electronic Technicians, I was a Hull Maintenance Technician.

I think the Navy rating for the guys in the CIC is an Operations Specialist. Should be some good duty.
Thank you for your service. And Go Navy!
What sub tender were you on?
I happened to be wearing one of my Navy hats today.

That's a nice looking trailer. The Dodge Dart looks good too. Is that a 69 model?
Thank you! Yes 69 with a 426 Hemi, it was my FIL's who passed last year and sat in his garage in NJ for over 50 years. He has had the car since new, originally a 340 4 speed car. 1st two pics are a little over a year ago when I removed it from his garage.........................and currently.

I got an early start yesterday, and was making some storage boxes for my collection of M18 nail guns. About half way through my neighbor texted and needed help. His washing machine died. He found a replacement on marketplace, so we headed out to pick it up. I was able to use my M18 transfer pump to empty out the old washer, and got the new one wrestled in (Forearm Forklift for the win!). I didn’t feel like doing much after that, so kicked back and watched football.

On my "new to me" 3 horse aluminum trailer
Wire wheeled and repainted the steel parts of the Gooseneck hitch and the jack . Just Rustoleum Rattle can but it looks better than what was there.

Wife snuck in to say hi earlier and caught me in action

The neighborhood cat did as well

Finished my weekend worth of work and cleaned up shop

20241103_130243.jpg

I'd say I've probably got the smallest shop here

You may think your shop is small, but your production rate per square foot is damned high!

Keep it up!

Thank you my friend!

Just snuck in to cut this out while the kid was napping (he's awake now).

Someone bought a similar vehicle to mine recently (on another forum) and he jokingly mentioned I should make a molle panel for the rear hatch.

Drew it up last night and here's the first mock up -

20241104_113401.jpg

It's a damn near perfect fit -

20241104_113103.jpg

The issue has to do with the bottom corners as the radius is rather "oblong". I'll fix that by bringing in the corners a bit sooner and shortening the height by about 1/32".

Also, this was my first time making my own molle layout -

20241104_114211.jpg

She's on there nice and tight!

Just need to bring in the vertical and horizontal spacing by about 1/16" or less -

20241104_114221.jpg

That and add two tabs at the bottom, two mounting holes up top, all of which I'll draw in tonight when everyone's asleep.

At least I have a 120v, a 240v and some lights. I'll run more receptacles another day. At least I can run my miter saw without running a cord into the house now, lol. The box on the right is Cat6 for the IP cameras. I didn't have my datacom kit to terminate that one.

It looks great. If it is Vyper like your stool, yeah, I bet it's not cheap. I have the Vyper fan, and it is spendy, as are all their products.
Yea. I went American made. I could have done with a much cheaper lesser quality cart, but I'm happy with this one. Figure it'll last forever unless someone drives into it!

I built a custom gauge pod for my Mustang! I'm really happy with the way it came out. There are no good ways to attach a 2-1/16 gauge to the steering column of a 1969 Mustang because of the protuded wiring channel.

3D printed the "clamp" portion on my 3D printer in ABS. So far so good! Beats the hose clamp I had on it! Has two heat-inserts to keep the bottom 4-40 screws together.

Did a video of the design / work / printing on my YouTube channel.

I've got a subpanel for each side of my shop, and one open slot between the two.

The Grass Drags in Laconia NH were an epic event. Man you guys are making me home sick.lol
Yea, they definitely are an epic event.

Ah, the good old days. Ski-Doo cant make a recoil starter that stays together, or should I say that doesnt melt together. And Polaris cant make a fuel tank/gas cap that doesnt leak. I enjoyed my Yamaha for the few years I had it. Decent snow can be hard to come by in these parts. Heavily modded 94 VX500 that was one of the shops former grass drag sleds. Red one in the middle, #20.
That is so true! haha

My 2018 Ford F150 security system alarm has been going off of course, at 3 or 4 in the morning now and again. My phone app says it's my hood being opened. It's a known issue and Ford has issued a TSB on this. My consultant (YT) says it's $400 for the dealership to replace the latch and the part is only $54. There is a micro-switch that goes bad in the hood latch. I removed the latch, cables and wiring plug, cleaned it and the embedded switch, and re-installed it. I drove to my Ford dealership and no joy there, not one dealer around has the part. It's now paid for/ordered but it won't be at the dealership until Tuesday. I'm hoping the cleaning will keep it from alarming at least until then to keep the neighbors from coming at me with torches and pitchforks.
UPDATE: Picked up the new latch from the dealership and when I went to install it, realized it didn't have the micro-swith and connector. Back to the dealership and the guy at the counter said there are only 2 possible hood latches for my model and the previous guy didn't give me either one. Grrrr...correct one was more money of course, but he gave me a discount because I had to come back. I successfully got that installed and haven't had any alarm problems since. Fingers crossed...

I only need one shop subpanel. I run a lot of stuff; but it's just me working in the shop, so I don't run a lot of stuff at once.

This house just has a medium-sized main breaker box in the kitchen. Having to open the kitchen walls every time I wanna add a circuit is for the birds. So I put this sub in the garage, and then I'm putting another sub in the basement of the house. I've got a lot more circuits to add to this place, and running them to the basement will be so much easier.

Switch to lithium; no leaks and last longer on the discharge curve.

Clean the Corriston with white Vinegar -, then neutralize with a light baking soda/water rinse. then clear water. and dry.

I’ve cleaned a lot of battery corrosion. I’m debating cleaning this up, or seeing what Duracell’s warranty people will do about it.

What cameras are you using? I am doing initial research for rehabbing my camera situation...

Same. Just enough room for a mini-split in the woodshop. Maybe I’ll get around to that in ‘25.

The mini-split in my garage/Shop was the best thing I ever did out there. There are times when it is the most comfortable room in the house. I have an insulated and air-sealed garage door, and that makes a huge difference, but when I build the dedicated shop space this coming spring (inshallah), the mini-split will be part of the plan from the beginning.

A short phone call later, they’re sending me a check for replacement at the listed price from Target’s web site.

Honestly I just have a 4 channel NVR that I found at a thrift store, and I bought a couple older hikivision IP cameras on eBay just to see if it works. I just bench-tested everything today and it all plays nice together. I have to meet the propane guy out there tomorrow, so I'm planning on installing it then (since he said he'd be there between "8 and noon", I'll have plenty of time, lol).

I figure if the NVR ***** I can get something else, and it's a cheap motivation to install some modern IP cameras.

Ever just look at the top of your toolbox and decide at all costs nothing needs to be setting there?

I've had manuals and receipts and random hardware building up in the edges for a couple of months. Decided it either goes in a bin (trash or other) or a drawerer...

More nut and bolt organizing on the schedule today..............................
I did some of that too! Put away about 4 pounds of stainless hardware in it's place. Then I sorted through random sandpaper laying in 3 different places, lots of it wetpaper that was used and needed thrown away. And believe it or not I went through several small boxes and 2 totes to straighten out this shelf.

Plan was to do nothing in shop today. Called in sick today for work, shoulder is really sore after leaf work over the weekend. Neighbor came knocking at 7:00pm tonight. Seems that a few fence panels blew over in the wind Sunday evening and Monday morning. Made a trip out to the garage to fetch 4 2'x2' pieces of plywood, some drywall screws, and screwgun to put up enough of a temp fix to keep the hound in the yard.

I was somehow talked into diagnosing a fellow Honda employee's Element that appears to need a transmission. It looks to need a transmission from someone somehow punching a hole in the transmission case, dumping all the fluid out. This will mean a slight setback in my race car projects, but at least I can make a couple extra doll-hairs to fund "emotional support beerz".
