It is only 61° today so I figured it is a nice day to spend some time in the garage. I got the battery from my old Ranger & put it in the Mustang & hooked up the cables. I turned the key & the starter just spins so I jacked it up & checked the starter. Seems that when I installed the starter, I did not fully tighten it down. So, I tightened it & tried it again & the engine turned over. Now I need to get some gas & see if it will run.

It does haha, full stainless schule headers and with this extra piece of pipe it sounds insane. I have no plans to keep it like this lol,i was just in process of adjusting the angle for the new muffler, but i had to start it to hear the sound with the midpipe only.

I spent hours on this mid pipe thing, got it fitted, did a test ride. Sounds good but removed it and put back the old exhaust,i just cant stand how bad mid pipe looks. I will make a new one,it has no leaks but it looks like 8 y old child was making it. I used the fitting press to reduce the dia of the pipe thats why it looks like trash. Thank god i removed it. This is how it turned out🥲.

Also got rid of 1/4 - 3/8 - 1/4 reduction on the tire pressure gauge,i had no 1/4 coupler so i slaped a few pieces just to make sure it works like it should, bought the coupler today and did a proper job.

Cleaned, flung, put away. Labeled some spares. Cleaned the greasy modular baskets for the car. Installed new air indicator lights for the lift. Opened a box and found one of Judy's Xmas presents. Cleaned and readjusted the woodshop door sensors. Fitted a new air cleaner to the little compressor. Started burning sheep. Tried to write some arduino code. Continued burning sheep.

Two projects getting attention over last 2 days. Top priority is to hang the insulated entry door for the shop. Had to remove old door stops that were glued and screwed into the jamb 40 years ago this spring. The old door is a 100 pound steel fire rated affair with broken single pane glass. The "new" one is insulated that I managed to find a matching dual pane glazing unit getting the latch and deadbolt strikers right was fiddly but the big deal was the old door was a full 6'8" but the new one only 79 so I had to make new shut stops to overlap for door seal. Glazing unit was scary as my grandson and I nearly dropped it 2 or 3 times! Was a proper PITA to get moldings properly.

The ongoing and dragging out work is fixing water in #2 cylinder of Iseki 3 banger. Tractor is an M-F 1440V made by Iseki, but some parts (such as the badly needed #2 piston) are not available 21 years on. Head had a 0.004" cup warp in middle, so that seems to be the problem. Bores cleaned up reasonably well at 0.001" hone so can stay with standard piston and rings. Had to sink the pre-cups as they were too hard to machine. Parts at M-F were quoted way beyond ridiculous. No gasket set, you have to buy them separately - came out to $1,800.+ Rings $750. Found 3 aftermarket sources, but all 100% Chinese and I really want OEM stuff. Called Iseki in UK yesterday and even they could not cross over model numbers and part numbers, but there is a LOT of continuity to the M-F 15xx and Iseki G something models so I can get the right parts hopefully at a reasonable price.

I gonna have to label drawers soon enough! Tomorro I putting the small top and bottom back where the empty space is. Beer fridge is almost empty 7-8 alcoholic ones that I not touching and a couple Guinness 0.0s no time like the present to get some 220v wire and put the 220 outlet on the face of the compressor cabinet If I don’t paint it grey first.

Still on "light duty only" post tooth extraction on Friday., so little fussy stuff yesterday, more of the same today -

Layout for a tool mod I'm planning;

Disassembled whats left of a treadle Singer. it was in worse shape that I thought so salvaging the treadle for another tool repurposed, (Its frame needs at least one place welded) salvaged the drawers and drawer frames for a standalone unit. bagged the brass hinges and screws, and the rest can go to someone that needs parts.

Pressure tested a 9/45 dated Coleman 242C. VJ day (Month) and my only "wartime" lantern so this will be for Veterans day, 4 of July and the like. passed pressure test so reassembled, fueled it, then fired it without a mantle, then let it cool and tied on a mantle and lit it for real. Just shut it down after an hour give or take of its first burn under my ownership.

Other than that just putting things away that needed it between breaks.

Forgot the money shot:

Not bad fro nearly 80 years old!

After the yard work I headed into the garage to clean.

I had put stuff on furniture dollies back when I was having the solar installed and never got around to putting anything back or in another place.
Pulled everything apart and started playing garage Tetris.

Started flinging and putting stuff away. I kept focused because I can get easily distracted. I also had to figure out where to put tools that I brought home from dad's.

Doesn't look like much is done but I can get to the drill press now.
It like this now.

Got the benches cleared too. Moved the resin printer to the other end of the bench. Feels less crowded.

Not perfect but workable.

Finally finished the shed. Was sick last week. The last of the screw holes were caulked today. Also put neighbor’s fence back together, the sections I had removed for access.

Cleaned up and put the last of the painting project stuff away.

Jacked up the front and pulled the wheels off. They need a good cleaning. Also examining / documenting the front suspension. It’s a modified (real) Mustang II and I am pretty sure that the bushings are 1974 vintage.

Made a mess on the bench:

20241111_151612.jpg

I decided to get rid of the extension cord and speaker wires for the stereo hanging down the wall from the ceiling. Shortened a spade bit to drill a hole in the top plate of the wall to fish wires down the inside of the wall, then cut openings for the two old work boxes.

20241111_151616.jpg

Fished the 12/2 romex and 3 speaker wires down to the openings and installed the receptacle. I ran out of speaker wire for the last speaker, so I left a piece of white 14 gauge wire in place to pull the last speaker wire with when I get some more.

20241111_151651.jpg

Then I found that one of the new speakers didn't work. I thought about sending the bad speaker back for a replacement, but opened up the back to see if there was an obvious issue that could be fixed. The black wire to the terminal not even soldered to the connection, so I soldered the wire and put it back on the wall.

Now I just need another roll of speaker wire and the last 2 speakers to finish.
