sweeping stairs is easier than vacuuming them
That’s a fantastic point. Plus it’s a working farm shop and not a shopmahal so the carpet would likely get gross real quick.

Am I missing something…..no post to hold up the landing in the middle of the stairs?
Correct. I didn’t want a post in my way for the rest of my life so the floor joists from the upper level run out there to create a cantilever sort of deal. So far so good. If I’d have been thinking I’d have run them long above the office door as well to create a big shelf but younger me wasn’t as smart as today me.

Seriously... I would hope/assume there's going to be some netting or blocking mechanism on the inside.
Blocking mechanism installed. Some scraps of 316SS plate bent up to hold a 2 by fur. Fancy bending jig 😂

All installed. Not pretty but no one but me will see it as it’s inside the loft.

I also got the outsides of the doors painted today. They don’t look too bad as long as you’re standing on the ground level.

Walked into the shop to grab my HF socket I needed to exchange. Later in the day, walked back in, put the new socket away. That's all I could do today, I pulled my damn back again. Luckily I had a big database job to do in the office, where I could sit still and make money today.

boreable right? crank rebuild or just outer bearings
Actually, I can get an all new crank for a few more bucks than a rebuild, so I usually go that route. I could do just the front outer bearing BUT the overall apparent lack of maintenence and fact that Jerry Riggs had been working on it, make me want to just redo EVERYTHING to make it all RIGHT.

I used to pull lower back, groin, psoas, etc.....on a pretty regular basis. I now do basic stretches regularly and have not had any issues in about 2 years. Simple stretching before bed and after breakfast, it might stop your issues too.

Yeah, I need to do something. My problem is, I get hyper-focused on jobs, my adrenaline gets flowing, and I don't know I overdid it until the next day. It happens so damn often. Pull my back, wreck my forearms, etc. If I didn't have my wife telling me to stop, I'd probably just work until I fall over dead like a horse, lol.

Ooh nice I live in Bothell most of the time right near there. While I work in and around the Seattle area. I also have a place in Peoria Arizona that I visit as often as possible until I retire and move there full time.

Just about everything has been restored, with many interior bits being original and needing some exterior work.

Need to fab some exhaust work, fix the air injection setup as part of the emissions, grab some new tires and she's ready.

Entire engine has been completey overhauled.

Yesterday, we did a thorough cleaning of our house after discovering bed bugs, which really scared us. We’ve been spraying every corner of the home for the past three days. Unfortunately, we had to throw out our favorite bed—which I absolutely loved—because we were convinced the bugs were nesting in it. Literally this week was tough but now it's Friday! Happy Friday :)

Changing the oil filter on those was such a joy. I had a customer who brought his turbo equipped one in for an oil change and was screaming at me that I had to fill the filter with oil before installing it as his dealer does. I calmly looked at him and said, they can only do that if they pulled out the engine. He proceeded to call his dealer as I fed the filter through all the **** in the way and finally managed to get it threaded on the engine, I might still have the scar from the burn I sufferer while doing this. This was done at my Jiffy Lube, so the freaking this was smoking hot. He walked over to me as I was adding the oil to apologize because the dealership had told him what I had.

I have containers full of slotted wood and machine screws in various sizes from the 60's that I inherited from Dad. I rarely if ever use them, but I can't seem to bring myself to get rid of them. So they sit in a supply cabinet taking up space.
I bought a steel cabinet with divided drawers a year or two ago. It's still full of slotted brass wood screws. I doubt I'll ever use them, but also don't want to throw them out!

Took down a couple of shelves I put up 35 years ago. Nothing like slotted screws in petrified wood to make you a believer. Measured for a new shop window.

I have maybe a dozen slotted machine and sheetmetal screws, that are of unusual sizes in my random **** tubs. They come in handy for **** work that'll be burnt, buried, or going far, far away to die. I'm slowly using them up. Everything else I have is Phillips, hex, Torx, or Robertson. My only uses for flat screwdrivers anymore is stabbing, prying, mixture screws, pool pumps, or electrical. I think my boat has slotted screws, so there'll be that on occasion.

Seems like newer brass screws are a lot softer than the old ones. I think I'd find room in my shop for those screws for furniture repairs. YMMV depending on how you use your shop.

Took the Knipex pliers wrench out of my toolbox and used it to loosen the plastic nut that holds a toilet fill valve. Replaced the fill valve with a new one and tightened the fill valve nut back up again. Returned the pliers wrench to the toolbox.

First successful use of the Knipex pliers wrench in over a year of ownership. I bought it due to all the enablers here, but frankly I am not all that impressed.

Finished insulating the new "Boathouse" garage. It's been slow going for this old man. Set the ladder. Get the insulation batt. Climb the ladder. Staple over my head. Run out of staples. Get down to get more. Climb the ladder again. Get down. . . But it's done.

Some pics of a plasma table I built last weekend. Still need to make the collector for it, maybe this weekend. 24x36 all 2 inch angle and 2 inch slats.

Finally decided to just throw caution to the wind and mounted the cabinets. Excuse the mess, this is a work in progress.

Then I sat down with a box of mystery ammunition. I say mystery because it is all reloads, but I have no idea who did it, and I don't want to risk firing it. I hate using the hammer to pull the projectiles, so I have decided to grab a single stage press, can't pick my order up until Monday so I suppose this is my stopping point.

I double dog dare you to toss them out! Since you mentioned it, I have a few myself and will toss mine next time I go down to the garage

Catching up on some end-of-season bicycle maintenance. New freewheel, one brake cable, one shift cable on my old beater. One brake cable on Ms. Skyman's, and I still need to get into its bottom bracket. The crank's just a little loose, so those bearings are needing grease and adjustment, or replacement if they're at end-of-life. TBD on that.

I mean, its a done deal at this point! I guess I could always walk out there tomorrow and find them on the floor. Never gave changing the orientation of a cabinet any thought until I got these for free, and they are too tall to hang vertically on this wall. No more adjustable shelving inside, but I filled them with my power tools so I can live without them. Unless you mean the reloads, in which case I say emphatically NO!
