Yay! The C3 is finished. Here's an update on my fix for a Wilton C3. The dynamic jaw was slightly loose from the slide. The pin holding it in place was a little sloppy in it's hole.

I ended up using a lot of red Loctite on the threads. I lined up the jaws and let it dry for a few days. Then I drilled and tapped two holes for two machine screws on the bottom of the jaw. They go all the way up into the slide, so it can't rotate at all. I also hammered on the pin on the front that was sloppy, and reinstalled it so it's now tight. No, it's not all original, but I would argue it's probably stronger than it was when new, and everything lines up nicely. Finished it up with a mixture of Hammerite blue plus green, and two new pipe jaws from Nick (Autopts).

I see they are available. Are you looking to find it in your local area or specific price range?

That's $345 AUD, would have to be a better example for that price, have got my eye on one in Oz, which is better and $100 cheaper. Just having a think about it, not a need more of a 'would like' for the right one, would be good to have a big Brother to the imp also.
Basically I'm trying to work out how nuts I am, already have an identical Dawn copy, so just want to compare them - It's just getting out of control :D

Also that's a later one, (approx mid 50's to 61 ish) changed to a squarer handle after that, the earlier ones have the Auto Vise script, and 2 holes to bend valve stems (yeah don't ask me why)
This is about the same era as my Imp -late 40's to 50"s.

A 1928 to mid 40's with the patent date on it would also be good, but have yet to see a good example.

Some of my recent acquisitions. I have been wanting a 5 inch or larger Wilton bullet and this one fit the bill. It is a 1971 date stamp, pretty good condition but needs a little TLC. Not a steal, but I was happy with the $350 price tag. Next are a couple of Universal Vise and Tool Co. milling vises. I didn't know these were a thing until I saw them in the auction listing, ended up getting the pair for $250. They need some cleaning, but look to be in nice shape. Then a rather pedestrian Craftsman 5176. The bonus piece was going to be the Hartford Super spacer that I got for $125, unfortunately the auction house decided to drop it and break off the horizontal mount. But at least they refunded my money and let me take it home for free.

Found a pic of the other side, can't see a pipe bender thou, unless thy mean use the pipe jaws to do that ?

1734701078232.png

Wouldn't mind it thou, was using a Columbian clamp-on (Chinese made) as my inside vice till I couldn't take the fingers down a blackboard operation anymore, swapped to a 720 degree Clamp-on (CE- think Taiwan ?) a few weeks ago, Last night however while putting a small Rededa and Marples together the thing just kept slipping when I put pressure on it. keeping both to throw at someone that annoys me now, no good for anything else.

Would love to use my Record Imp, (really, really good vice) as my inside vice, but I stuffed up and got one in very good original condition/paint. need to find one I can use,
rare find indeed

An eBay Hyena that I occasionally deal with needed speaker repair work, but didn't want to pay me cash for my work.
So...... he finally found something to trade me

The Paramo #6 is in solid condition and only needs a good cleaning
Wilton is in the process of having the Electric Blue paint stripped off

The design / contour / outlines of Paramo’s just look “right” to me.
Bottom plate has felt glued to it, can slide it around my workbench to hold stuff.

Good ol Harbor Freight to the rescue... While my vintage drill press enjoys a period-correct Atlas x y table and vise jaws, I needed something bigger for the Jet drill press.
The T-slot nuts showed up today and of course I got bolts just a bit too long from Home Depot. Had to turn 1 1/2" length into 1 1/4" with my grinder. Was able to get three points of contact so hopefully all good.
The handle for the tap and die set worked well to keep from being burned by the bolts with a now questionable heat treatment.
First time using the grinder so much I made a glowing little metal snowman, wasn't able to snap a pick while still red-hot :(

What did a new Columbian Model 206 M2 sell for and what do they sell for now? A guy new me has a "restored" Columbian Model 206 M2. I haven't been to look at it yet, but I says "restored" and from the pictures it looks brand new.

This is not mine, but I saw it listed on FB Marketplace and thought it might be interesting to this group. I searched around the internet and couldn't find much, but I did find pictures of 3 or 4 similar vises. Information was pretty lacking. Size is listed as 1", 1 1/8" or 30mm. The name on the base, Franz Kitzerow, appears to a maker of machine tools, so this is somehow associated with him. The vise itself appears to be a Boley, the stamp seems to corroborate. Another one that I found pictures of online has the same base but is a Leinen vise in a slightly different style. I'm curious if anyone here has one of these or knows any more details. Sure is a cute little ******.Screenshot_20241224-215753~2.pngScreenshot_20241224-215804~2.pngScreenshot_20241224-221338.png

I purchased a 206 M2 not too long ago for $150 - see post (link). In that post, I also included this advertisement for the slightly newer model M3, showing that is sold for over $1800 new back in the day.

Building some Columbian pipe jaws for Nick if anyone needs some. For me they are easy for me to make and enjoy making them then serrated jaws, just to many cuts for serrations. Sure miss my CNC. Curious to see if these older pipe jaws fit the newer M2’s. Spec:s added.

I found an ad after I posted that listed a 206M2 for almost $1900 new ready to ship. The one I was looking at after downloading and looking at the pictures, I noticed the pipe clamp jaws were missing. He's asking $800. I have to admit, it does look good, but not $800 good.

I'm going to build a forge before long and need a good stout vice to mount on my 4x8x1/2-nich plate steel worktable.

Can anyone identify the maker of this unmarked vise? The jaws are 1 7/8 in wide with steel cast in place faces and the vise is 3 1/16 inch high. The nut is cast brass. Also, there must be a piece missing at the back of the body where there is an empty channel and a threaded hole. Any ideas? The swivel jaw mechanism is the only one I have seen like it. A steel pin passes through a groove around the central pillar under the swivel jaw. I am attaching pictures. Thanks.

I believe it’s a broken or incomplete Parker Jeweler’s vise. Looks like it’s been cleaned down to the bare bone casting.
