Un-Powered the power drawer in my new US General box. Not Milwaukee charger friendly. It's now the bit socket drawer, hex and torx keys etc.

Bunch of magnetic socket rails arrived today.
Cut to fit several socket sets i have, and some shorter bit sets. Magnets seem strong enough so they won't fall over, even deeps.

Few more rails arriving tomorrow.
I like those rails. Where did you find those? I am looking for some decent ones in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2”

Finished my fan/air cleaner project. I’ve had it for like 4 years waiting patiently under my workbench. Only cost was about $14, 10 of which was the 5 position switch. Oh, and $6k for a new hvac system.

Fan is super strong. Low speed isn’t really very low. If I built another, I would just use 2 light switches. One for on/off and the other for high/low. Medium high and medium low aren’t much different And wouldn’t be missed.

That thing’s a work of art, may the gods of kickback look kindly upon you.lol

I have another one that's newer, other than it will pull in lightly on occasion in hard wood it runs well. I only use it to cross cut. I'm running a 10" Freud blade on that one after watching a seasoned pro articulate why he runs that blade. More research shows this one shoud be run with o to negative hook that's thin kerf. Those damn Forest I and II's are pricey. There is a 9" Freud I'm going to try first before I spend the money on a Forest.

It’s chilly outside so we’ve been hibernating in the shop doing preventative maintenance things. Like checking wheel bearings on trailers. Three gravity wagons and two hay trailers done so far. 24 wheel bearings checked and greased with 24 being in good shape. Can’t argue with that. Only 258 to go :lol_hitti

Made another main jet change on the Top Banana's carb. Using a AEM WBO2 to get it dialed in. The PO had a 145 main jet in it, which was so rich it was ******* the WBO2. With a 135, it was at high 9's/low 10's at WOT, and it picked up a bunch of power. Just went to a 125; we'll see where that lands the WOT AFR.

This wasn't today but about two weeks ago (wanted to make sure I didn't have any return issues). I put together two Vyper Chairs. Then I sat in them for a little, took them apart and put them back in the boxes. I just couldn't justify the price after I put them together. The Elevated Steel Max, would have been worth it (maybe) if the casters worked a bit better (might have overtightened them a bit, but not great out of the box on both chairs) and if I could rotate without having to move the whole chair (maybe the other style adjust would have been better but wasn't available in the special edition). The Robust Steel Max on the other hand I would not get again. Didn't get low enough and with the foot ring it was too wide. Both sure were comfterble but just not worth it to me.

To Vypers credit they did take them back without issue. They were not bad at all, just not as great as I had hoped they would be. Please don't mind the messy garage that is this my current project. Hard to pull everything out in the snow so I'll have to clean strategically.

Not being able to pivot the seat independent of the base is exactly why I purchased my Vyper chair with the standard ACME thread version vs. the quick adjust version. I needed to have the ability to pivot between the welder and the table and didn't want the version that didn't allow that as I figured the base wouldn't pivot as easily as the stool on the ACME thread. That being said, I love my Vyper chair. It resides at my welding/fabrication table and gets used quite a lot. It replaced my 20+ year old Snap-on stool with the four small casters. The casters on the Vyper chair are very high quality and roll easily on my shop floor, even when deep into a welding project with dust and debris on the floor.

Izzat a Miller remote TIG foot pedal? Regardless of any other possessions that either of us have, I am so jealous!

Not that I haven't spent (more than...) my share on frivolous shop gear, I just can't bring myself for that coin (***** being a cheap squanderer, lol).

Nice shop!

Thank you. Yes, that is the Miller wireless TIG pedal. I have had this for about 15 years now and love not having a corded TIG pedal. It's nice having one less wire/cable at the fabrication table, but under a vehicle or inside a vehicle is where having that one less cable really pays off. At first I thought it was a luxury, but after having it for 15 years now, in my mind it is a necessity. I've "modified" mine just a bit though. :bounce:

Does that mean you have 282 tires in your fleet? That's a lot of rubber!
I still haven't actually counted all the tires around here but I will get you an answer one of these days !! EDIT: doing a rough count I am over 150 wheels on trailers so 282 might not be that far off :lol_hitti

And you're cheating, to boot. You've got a hydraulic jack and concrete. Bet you've got heat, too. We had that jumpity-pumpity farm jack and packed gravel. The machine shed was open at both ends, so the horses could pull the wagons through.
We like to run the wagons through the shop in the winter to check things over. Not only is the shop heated but the floor is warm. Really spoiled we are !!

Seems like you would get pretty good at wheel bearings with that much practice!
I've been doing wheel bearings for as long as I can remember. Growing up it was as Kay described though. On dirt and in the cold. Tomorrow the kiddos will be home and I'm going to have them do the trailer currently in the shop.

I wish I would have got the ACME thread on the chair it would have solved one of my main issues, the limited didn't come in that option. If I did I for sure would have kept the elevated model. My issue with the casters was with the swivel not so much rolling. For whatever reason right out of the box some didn't want to rotate all that well. Made even worse when I put them on. I could get them to swivel ok if I didn't tighten much, but then they would have a ton of slop. I just couldn't find a happy medium with a few of them. Might have went away after some use.

If I end up doing it again I would not get a limited version. I would go ACME thread and also get one with the non-powder coated SS foot ring.

I was all ready to actually order the quick adjuster version, but seeing as how this was such an expensive purchase, I wanted to call and talk with someone. I was fortunate to have Chris answer the phone and he was awesome. He asked me a few questions about how I intended to use the stool and what I was wanting out of it. I think that was key, because as soon as I explained I was going to be pivoting a lot he immediately recommended I get the ACME thread version as he didn't think I would be pleased with the rigidity or not having the ability to swivel or pivot on the seat stem.

As for the casters, we have used the SCC (Specialty Caster Corp.) at work for many, many years and never have had an issue. That surprised me as they are what I would consider the upper echelon of casters.

Fired up the 318 and headed out into the snowy winter landscape Mother Nature left us here starting at 10pm last night. Been snowing all day, so after getting off work, I got the plowing done. I love having a tractor-mounted snowblower for these days. Driveway, sidewalks, alleyway that no one has plowed yet, and the ends of the nearby alleys going into the streets. Neighbors don't say anything but I know it helps. The city appreciates the job, they always wave or thumbs-up while they worry about the big stuff, keeping my little area tidy right across the street from them probably looks nicer.

magnetic socket rails arrived today

Until I saw how they held the sockets I thought someone might have actually caught up to what I've been using for over 40 years:

Rows or conveyor magnets - 1" X 2" X 5/16 IIR. Line those up en to ens and drop your sockets on top - they ain't going anywhere, even for a track box in a truck. I don't have to worry if I have a "Spot" for a particular size, and they last forever. The castoffs I collected at a Conveyor company I once worked as a designer at, plus some more bought at a Yard sale 20 odd years back, and I'm still using them

You could probably also use those "magnetic tool rails" HF and others used to sell -not sure they still do? :dunno: But someone must.

Properly used they're perfectly safe. I've had one for 50 years. No problems.

Same here.

Pushed a broom, cleaned up most of the mess I made, and tried moving vehicles around. The bikes no one rides will have to go. I have them hanging on the wall, but they are taking up valuable space. Hate to get rid of them, but I can say with certainty that no one has touched them in a year at least. Part of me wants to try and sell them on Craigslist, and the other half wants to just donate them to avoid the hassle.

Place them thoughtfully in their bedrooms, with a note saying "Not in the garage"?
