Second coat of Prothane polyurethane. I like this finish the best of all I have tried. I tried Prothane 3x deal previously, didn't care for it one bit. This version is nice. I may do one more coat, I'll inspect it after this coat cures and make a final decision.

Unloaded the freshly coated PowerPoles. I went with "wet gloss black" I need to do the bilge pump float switch and get them back on. Maybe tomorrow.

Lined two Elevated Raised Bed Planter Boxes today with Landscape Cloth. Previously I had been stapling in the liner but today I used the glue gun with Hot Melt glue. I think this is the first time in 20+ years I have used the glue gun. Hot melt glue is a lot easier to use than my hand operated stapler.
I bought the Stapler from Sears in 1977 or’78.

Found a completely rusted out and locked up Crescent wrench at the antique store for $5. Just wanted to see if it could come back around. Took a few days of soaking in rust killer and some work on the buffing wheels, but it’s back in action, aka in a random toolbox drawer where it will probably never be seen again.

Made a simple brake bleeding catch bottle20250307_205235.jpg20250307_205228.jpg20250307_205151.jpg

Do you think not having it vented to atmosphere will impede the flow of brake fluid from the caliper?

I dont think that motorcycle master cyl can pump that much air inside the bottle to stop the flow... but i might be wrong. In can i need a vent its easy to grill a hole and install a tire valve with removed core or something like that.
Beat me to it, I simply put 2 holes in the cap to a brake fluid bottle, one for the hose, the other for a vent.

I was in the garage earlier, organizing automotive electrical so it is mostly in one place.
All of the testing/wire strippers/multimeters and such reside in a portable tool box.

Grab and go.

Nearly all two-door sedans that have a back seat have longer doors than would be used for the front doors of a comparable four-door car. Access to the back seat of this 2-door Blazer is a challenge for anyone who's not as nimble and skinny as a teenager. The doors are the same as were used on the S-10 pickups, and the passenger's seat doesn't move or fold forward nearly far enough to provide reasonable ingress/egress. Driver's seat is worse. It's pretty pathetic, actually. But it does have three pedals for operation, which was a requirement for me. Me no likey slushboxes.

I have not one but 2 Two door blazers...regular with 5 spd and a ZR2 with an auto.

Length of clear tubing, sealed to the cap via hot glue gun.
Gatorade bottle.
Run the clear line all the way down, fill the bottle with some brake fluid about 1/4 way up.

Never had a need for an extra vent line. Maybe something new to try.

I just made the hole small enough so the clear hose fit nice and tight, been using it for decades. Didn’t run the hose to the bottom, because I’m just using the bottle for a catch can.

I love those old Crescents. They just work well and handle nicely. Good restoration.

A buddy's FIL always drank a large glass of water before bed - that was his alarm!
Working long hours at AOL and staying in a nearby motel I used the water alarm quite often. The amount of water I drank determined how long I slept. If I had to be up in two hours, a two liter jug of water was perfect.

I'm hoping he got up to go to bathroom and didn't wake up to a wet bed.
Dumped a bucket of misc hardware on the bench and sorted it.
I used to keep a bucket of unsorted hardware for when a student came in from a night of too much fun. I made them sit and sort. They learned either not to hit hard before lab class or not show up.

My grandmother used to sell these in her store in San Francisco.

Put tools away, had a beer or 3 to celebrate a full 42 hour work week…..😯

ordered new Dickies Bib overalls, they were on sale for 52$ CDN. Headed out of town today but they should be on the front steps when we roll back into the driveway. Hope they are baggy enough but not too baggy that I can’t throw a hoodie over for my offroad trips.

Sitting here on my second Dr Pepper, ate some cheese and pretzels for lunch and a Debbie cake. Poking away on GJ and trying to remedy my parents old computer.

I'm not IT guy but this thing has issues and was packed full of pictures and Hymns. Start Menu is none working and doing a System Restore right now. . . . last 15 minutes or so.

Yes, it's probably junk and has been replaced but it's been sitting on the bench and I've wanted to see if I could get it back online and maybe use it as a PC in teh bedroom connecting to the TV. I can't even tell if it has a wireless card in it. I'm guesing it should.

No, just trying to get it to work period.

It pops a warning that the Start Menu is broken and will try to fix on the next log in and wants you to log out.

It can get past the warning but the start menu doesn't give you access to anything. Keep getting a McAfee expiration window and wants to renew. I can't even access the Apps to delete it.

This thing is jammed full of pictures and Hymnal files they used for church. I was trying to delete that stuff trying to see if it would at least speed up a bit.... At one point, emptying the Recycle Bin, it flashed over a gig being deleted.

Yeah, I don't know... probably wasting my time but on the bright side, I'm not at work.

Replaced two tubes. This is the better of the two bad ones.

Then my son's soccer game got canceled because of storms, so now I'm cleaning the shop.

My son got in trouble and lost electronics for the rest of the day, so he's out here "helping". His ADD means he's good for about 5 minutes before he squirrels and has to be redirected.

Spent the morning painting the first finish coat on my crown molding. Then continued the disassembly of an early 1940's Carrier AC machine. it was three phase and needed to go. I hated to scrap it but the compressor blew a few years ago right before this retail store closed so it was no longer an efficient option for me. Such wonderful American craftsmanship in that thing but time moves on and it just takes up too much space to be a conversation piece in my "future Car Salon."

Full shop day today, skipped the gym knowing going into the bilge can be full of extra surprises. Old auto/ float switch out, new one in. It takes some abuse in the bilge, its mounted right on top of the "pad" where the boat rides on plane/ at speed. I added rubber washers under the mounting screws to maybe reduce/ absorb some of the abuse it takes. The boat runs low 80's so its no surprise it and everything else gets jarred around. Recovered quite an assortment of random fasteners while I was in there. I'm going to redesign and build the bilge cover plate. Ordered some 1/4 aluminum plate and aluminum group 31 battery trays. It's over due for some attention, I promised myself I'd redo it next time I went in there..here I am.

Last sand/ polyurethane coat for the work bench.

Pictures, no order.

Added one of it sitting in the water for the boat/ fishing enthusiasts.
