I spent an hour or two ruining the patina and collector's value of this PAL RH 50 WWII combat knife:

Now she's a user.

The blade was in incredibly good shape--except the tip. It looked like it had been dropped tip-first on concrete--multiple times. I didn't fully finish sharpening the tip 'cause I wanted to save some of the blade.

Now to find a sheath for her....

The Mercedes radio is a fairly decent unit sound wise, but I could only play CDs and cassettes, along with FM-AM-and weather. I found an android auto screen that pairs with my Android phone and Android Auto, voice commands, Sirius XM, hands free phone, back up camera, etc., the same functionality as the infotainment system oin our 24 Mazda 3. I had to fabricate a custom bracket, other than that, a piece of cake. The backup camera is especially appreciated since rearward vision with the top up is sketchy at best. I've got a power cable on order with a 90 degree usbC end to hide the cord sticking out of the left side of the unit. It directs sound through the factory stereo via an RCA cable so I can use the steering wheel volume controls.

Do you have a link for that? I've been hunting for one--or more--for a long time and never hit the bullseye.

Since the HF 42" Series 3, Roller Cabinet is now in its permanent location and all the drawers have a detent allowing them to stay closed when pushed in all the way, I removed all the plastic sliding locks from the drawers.

Thought I was going to have to cut or break the ends off of them, but all I had to do was lift the plastic tab slightly and they slid right out. I'll store them in a cardboard tube should I want to put them back in the future.

The 1st pic is to better show the tab. 2nd pic is how they sit in the slot, (the little tab faces down).

The 10pc chrome drawer handles kit came in the mail today. They are nicely done and fit perfect. They actually have the look of stainless rather then bright chrome.

These handles are easy to switch out. A little hard to explain, but basically there's a small 'c' type channel that runs the length of each drawer. The backs of the handles just catch the 'c' channel and are held in place by small set screws from inside the drawer. There are 3 for the long drawers one in the center and one of each end. The other medium and narrow drawers only have 2 set screws, one on each end.

Everything was going good until I went to slide the last two narrow handles out of the shipping carton and THEY WERE MISSING!! SH*T!! So, now I'll have to call HF and get them to send me replacements for the missing pair.

Thinking also of replacing the black lock for a chrome one. Don't care about the black US Gen and Series 3 tags. I'll either leave them black or take them off completely.

Also today, I picked up a black mini box at HF. Just $13.99 sale price. I'll see about getting some kind of self stick stainless tape or maybe just mask the mini's handles and paint them.

Yes, I will be cleaning the box of smudges/fingerprints. Anyway, here's a couple pics.

Have that same one in my shop. Got at auction last year. Explained what it was to my Grandaughter when we were drawing up plans for a bird house. Like most kids, she wasn't impressed with the, "when I was a boy we used these", ********.

Started building my new to me minibike and made a new engine plate for it. The previous owner didn't know what it was but I believe it's an Arco from the 70s that someone swapped the front forks / seat and added trail horse wheels. I don't actually know jack about minibikes though.




It's getting a Predator 212. It fits good but I didn't consider how wide it'd be lol.

You could make the boss hog of minibikes and put a 22 horse v-twin on there.lol

Realized a day ago a squirrel has gotten into the shop. Came in via the open door, I set a trap and blocked the dog door. Waiting to get it out. Saw and heard it again, even after leaving the door open for hours.
Started the 3d printers, checked voltage on a bunch of used AA batteries, removed from trail cameras. Ordered 6 new trail cameras as 3 have failed and at $30 bucks it isn't worth messing with.

I was always a little nervous riding V-twin/V4 motorcycles because one of the cylinders was pointing at my boys. I know I have a better chance of hitting the lottery, but it's just one of those things that sticks in your mind...lol

gonna bleed brakes today then go after leaks then hook up the linkages to the transmission and transfer cases. It would sure be nice to hose off this truck outside before proceeding with the small details now.

I called HF today to see if I could get the 2 narrow chrome handles that were missing from the Chrome Kit. As expected, they're not available individually. Worth a try anyway. My only option is to bring back the whole kit to the local HF store for a replacement or refund.

Since I already have these 8 handles mounted, I've decided its easier to just buy a 2nd kit, take out the 2 missing ones I need and then return it for the refund. Same difference, less work.

Stopped at the old house and brought a small load of garage stuff to the new place.

Got all my poly bins and cabinets off the wall, just took them all with their contents inside. Boxed up everything I had hanging on the walls. Grabbed about 30% of all loose stuff sitting on work benches. That's all I could fit in the small vehicle I was driving. It was a spur-of-the-moment decision to drive past the place. Had I planned on it, I would have driven my van. Oh well, I swiped a pretty substantial load even in a small vehicle.

I need to rent a trailer to get my rolling tool chests next.

grabbed some timber and milled it down to make a box for the game called 'Jenga', then found out when measuring the heights of the blocks ( by poking my tape measure down inside the box) that there was some cardboard packing at the bottom and consequently my box doesn't fit , besides that and the fact that my rabbeted joints didn't turn up as neat as I'd like the rest of the milling process worked well, lesson learnt this box will now become something else

I have a manual crank Boston in the shop and that same electric one in the house. The 30+ year old nylon drive gear shattered a few years back but I was able to find a 3d printed replacement online. Happy sharpening continues.

Ripped out the old bulkheads.



Spent a million hours scraping silicone.



Cut new bulkheads. Waiting for glue to dry, then I'll silicone the new ones in.




I did end up using the foam cutting bow to thin the bulkheads. I should have made a jig to make the cut straighter, but this is going on the backside.

I cleaned up one of the two Coleman lanterns I picked up last weekend.



The blue one on the left--it's a Coleman 243A, made in June of '39. I've restored quite a few of the other--242C--and the 243 is just different enough to be interesting.

It had been used as low-rent housing in the past:





They really packed 'em in there!

The globe cleaned up nicely:



for an eighty-year-old piece of glass.

Everything got a bath in the ultrasonic cleaner with hot lye solution:



except the painted fount and the bakelite valve knob--those get hand-washed. The rusty steel parts then got another buzz bath with sodium citrate solution, which does wonders for rust--and doesn't damage the ceramic porcelain on the vent.





That's as far as I'm going until the sun drops and it cools off some. Then I'll see if I can get the old girl fired up.

I worked on a stock rack for the last couple of days..
Got the frame built and a coat of primer brushed on it.
Have some used 3/4 plywood for the shelves up at the property I'll bring down next time we go.
It should hold 2000 lbs or so - mostly on the base for ballast. It has 5 heavy casters under it.
I have that much metal squirreled away here and it'll be nice to better organize it.

I cleaned up the wiring on this Harbor Freight winch enough for a picture. This was my first HF winch. They seem to have a lot of wiring. Did opt for the wireless remote.
Mounted off to the side with a ****** block. Was concerned if it was going to spool correct, which it does. Did read by using the ****** block it tends to twist, rope in my case. Little extra work putting it there but worked out well.

Replaced the kitchen stove vent. had to make the under cabinet electrical connections again and racked my shoulders and lower back from the twisting around. Thank god for the Tens 7000 tensor! Almost normal already...

Got my POS truck out of park. If you have an 08 F250 Super Duty, the bypass is under a little tab, on top of the steering column. Slide the white button to the left while pulling down on the shifter. Simple, for a Ford.

The last Ford pickup I owned, was a 76 F150 360, 3 in the tree, or maybe it was 4, can't remember. Loved that simple old beast.

Now I just have to figure out why it isn't working, and why I have no headlights, tailights, signal lights, interior lights etc. I'm thinking a relay. There is no way that many fuses could be blown. The door ajar light won't shut off either, and the reset doesn't work on the ecm. I had the battery off this thing for months. Maybe it is screwed up, not sure.

Check to see if you disturbed any ground connections during the starter swap.
