I could have preordered the end of June and I did not.

I can be very disciplined when I decide to be. I will be setting new limits on my monthly Amazon spending, starting in August.

You are just trying to break me, which means you may be a Bezos plant. 🤣
I'm a bot, that's different than a plant. I fully understand. It's so easy to just click. I usually leave any non-maintenance purchases in the cart for a month.

im on day 2 of cleaning and reorganizing.
ive had 2 of my "working" boxes crammed back in the corner of the garage for 15 years, sitting unused as ive been a field mechanic for 21 years with this company. that all changes the 1st of august, i'll be moving to one of our locations thast 5 mils from my house and will start working in the shop until i decide to retire.
i just have to get my KR550b/555 boxes moved to the shop and get my tools and equipment unloaded from the truck and see what other boxes i'll need to store all my stuff.
im taking advantage of having to move the bigger boxes and shuffle some stuff around and clean.

Took my mini tiller apart to finally see why the engine fell off last year (post when it happened > HERE ). I mean, I know the little tube the holds the engine up broke, but I wanted to see if I could repair it. I took it apart and took the tube with me to the store, and I got some pieces of pipe to try to fabricate a solution.

I have a job that will require using it for about 2 hours, so hopefully one of the riggings... I mean "solutions" will hold up that long.

Got home late and didn't have time to mess, and the garage was all hot, so maybe tomorrow I'll give it a shot.

Also took my small bug zapper apart to see why it sounds like it's zapping bugs but there are no bugs. Turns out a 47M Ohm resistor on the high-voltage circuit split open and was arcing. Of course, that's a crazy-high resistor value that I don't have in stock, and the cheapest I can get one is about $13 + shipping (it's a quantity pack, but still, a single or a million of them, I only need one, and the cost is the same regardless). Problem is, a new small bug zapper is $9.95 at Menards, so... I hate to be wasteful, but math is math. Off to the landfill for the old one.

We used to have maybe a dozen good electronics stores within 50 miles. By the turn of the century we had one. Now there's none. Folks don't repair or make anymore, they buy.

When I exit stage left, there'll be boxes of hardware for some lucky packrat to play with, cause I've had to stock my own store.

Same here my kids nick named my supplies "Dad's hardware store."

Some of my son's earliest garage experiences were helping me sort through a couple of 5 gallon buckets of electical crimp commectores, small machine screws, and socket head bolts from a guy that had 55 gallon barrels of the stuff. Nothing sorted so he had a couple of doors on other barrels with piles to dig for what he needed...

Not me. I want it sorted and clean.

35 years later I still get "dad, do you have any..."

some of the epoxy and glue they use today is something else, it's mostly driven by planned obsolescence

Today was dealing with the carnage from the previous few days....

1.} adjusted the exhaust on the 2001 Blazer and aligned the new system with the header flanges...there may or may not have been some bolts that weren't tight. Truck is louder through the muffler than I remember but runs great. Now achieves highway speeds easily and will pull up to beyond 3000 rpm. Took it to the store that I bought the battery from the kid was amazed when I pulled a battery out of the back when he needed to charge the questionable one overnight, If the battery is warrantied as I expect the replacement will be in Friday. So until then my battery for my 1967 Camaro will be shared. Same battery will turn a high compression 350 and lower HP 4.3Liter. seems legit since the 4.3 is a 350 with two less cylinders.
2.} My 2021 Colorado still has a power rain warranty and the dealership will keep it until Monday as it needs a new throttle body but they want the master diesel tech to confirm.
3.} My friend from Colorado rented a car to get his wife back home and will return next week with the parts to fix his {hers really} car. So sometime next week we'll be free range Audi techs.
4.} My kitchen sink line is blocked deep down so that is not draining and the dishwasher won't drain either. Will have to get a plumber in to clear it again...seen them struggle for a couple hours. Tried several methods but none have worked yet.

Maybe tomorrow the list will shrink not grow or stay the same.

@rharman I have a limited amount of time to correct this as it is a project with a grandchild who is here for a week. So once we discovered the issue, we immediately returned the 212 to a manual start mode. I will correct it long term, found a kit but it costs more than a replacement 212. Bit of head scratching....to be continued BUT we're trying to get it done in the time frame allotted.

So, what is/was the fix?

Hours and hours of work are starting to come together. Scrap, clean, patch, replace, prime, spot prime, paint twice! This is the biggest mess of my project so far. The front 3,000 sq ft of ceiling is in much better shape so I anticipate it being an easier process to prep and paint. I may even buy a spray rig for it. This 3,000 portion of the restoration has been a labor of love that is paying off.

Any better pics of the mural in the bar area? Looks cool from here.
Building a new 26 x 36 garage and today had attic insulation blown in and walls spray foamed
You guys both need build threads, if not for our entertainment, it will serve a a catalog for your projects.

Well, other factors. . . header clearance, starter clearance and accessibility but weight is one of them.

You do what you want, I was just curious. . but here's some reading for you. Just food for thought.

Totally hear you on weight. I totally can’t wait to get this unit on the scales. If under 6000lbs me be happy. But then I will see where I can lighten up things. End of the day, she’s a trail rig that will be wheeling with a V8 Tundra for the most part.

Exhaust went outside the frame and over the Rocker supports.

Added in expanded metal shelving to my fab table as I am currently on a kick of regaining more floorspace in the shop Which I got in the far back corner. I can see some little moving dollies from Princess Auto showing up for the milk crate or 5 gallon pail.

Gonna reweld the little parts washer stand today as a leg broke off of it. Need to start on my parts washer redux project soon For when **** breaks on the bronco‘s trail rides.

also time to clearance the transmission cross member for the twin stick linkages and get on my power steering lines.

Emptied 1 of 6 cabinets to reorganize everything. The cabinets are corporate-style, with sliding vertical panels that I bought when my employer was updating the office. Paid $15-20 each, and they work great, in case you come across any similar opportunities.
I have bought from this site several times. Just bought 2 - 5 drawer filing cabinets for my daughter's new place. Cost me $2.54 for both.

Emptied the truck from the weekend. I took the kayak down to Lake Conroe near Houston for the 4th. Paddled about 4 miles. Lake Conroe is a very busy and rough lake from boat wakes. The kayak handled it great. I think I finally figured out where I need to sit for good front/back balance.

After emptying the truck, my son and I swapped the ladder rack back to the bed cover. Lastly, he and I ran to the gas station to fill up the truck and to fill up the fuel cans for the mowers.

One of the caps for a fuel can broke, so I ordered new ones and will replace the busted cap when they come in.

Finally got around to putting the new wheel cylinder's, e brake cables, hardware, and shoes on the rear of the 85 mustang. I ordered the parts back in April, but work was so busy the last several months I had no time or energy. Used my cheap harbor freight brake bleeder. Which worked okay for what it is.

Over the last few days.
Moved more stuff into the shed from the garage. Still lots of room.

Grabbed tools to install a new toilet in the downstairs bathroom. Put all the tools back. I'm happy to get it replaced. The old toilet looked like ****...:poop:

Pushed the go button on a 17 hour print. Over half way there now.

Not in my garage, but in my buddy's driveway. Big storm the other day, tornado warning, the whole bit. My friend and family are 3500 miles away on vacation and this happened. With permission, pIMG_6058.jpgIMG_6075.jpgiece by piece my wife and I trimmed back the tree, taking time to assess load, supports, and so forth. We did not have the car keys so we dared not cut the large overhanging branch. Had to use the floor jack to raise up the tree a bit to cut off the lower branch and insert supports. In the end, only a cracked windshield. BTW, did all the cutting with the Makita cordless recip saw with a pruning blade.

I've been getting back to my backlog of yardwork now the gout is under control. Big focus on the overgrown Ivy, dang ivy has taken over both sides of one inside yard fence around the back forty and was as big as my 16 X 7-1/2 shed now... It will take at least a month to cut it back and get it into the green bin week by week.. lots of other ivy elsewhere - All that may take a year to fully remove one barrel at a time - I should get my shredder operating again then I can send more of it away each week...

Today was a light day...sink drain still blocked and plumber call. So we doing dishes like we are camping. One 5 gallon bucket with soap and the other with water.

Tried to work out why the Suburban is crank no start. Forgot my multi meter and couldn't find my spark tester. I don't believe I am getting spark from the coil...could be several things such as a bad coil, bad ECM or bad ignition cylinder/VATS system

Did clean up the interior of the truck my wife will drive and reinstall a trim panel. Dropped her truck off at the body shop.

Added Freon to the truck I'll driving.

Heard from the Battery store....have to charge longer as only 24 hrs resulted in be half charged.

I tried Sta-Bil and marine-grade Sta-Bil. Neither seemed to make a damned bit of difference. That's as far as I went with trying fuel stabilizers, having concluded that they seemed to be useless.
All my bikes are running on 100 octane, and i add liqui moly. Make sure that carbs are always full, fuel might evaporate over time from the carb bowls. Liqui moly have some additives against rust and something to keep rubber 0 rings in good shape so that fact alone is enough to mix it.

Set the son up with a small bench vise to clamp a piece of wood in. He's turning a piece of scrap stick into something he saw on Mandalorian. I gave him some 60 grit sand paper and a small hand plane to use. I'm sure I'll be out there later today monitoring him as he cuts something on the bandsaw. I don't let him use power tools unless I'm helping.

Back under the f2pos today. 1 more ground to check, a few relays, then I might have to give in and take it to a shop.

I cannot express how much I hate taking a vehicle in for repairs, but I have to get this monkey off my back. Sometimes you have to throw in the towel.

We're staring mid July in the face, and I've got a winters worth of wood to start hauling. Crazy crazy.

We'll see.

Saturday #1 Grandson and I replaced the fawcet in our ensuite. It had been in place about 30 ears, so corrosion pretty bad. GS wanted to do as much of the work as possible but the fitting nuts needing 3/4 crowfoot he couldn't handle as really tight spot. He also couldn't break loose and back off the big plastic wing nuts that held everything in place, so out to the garage to find a piece of 1 1/4 schd 40 6063 pipe to make a 4 slot socket - the he used to finally break nuts free.

Sunday PM #1 Son-in-law brought over Big Kid's B6 wagon with stripped drain plug (found when vaccum oil extractor failed) and new Amazon pan (obviously a TSI regular problem). Anyone who works on later VWAG stuff knows they use a wickedly strong sealant/adhesive instead of many gaskets, and a sheet metal part will be destroyed when removing. Once I got it off (hard to do without prying against the aluminum gasket surface of the block) I grabbed a can of CRC Gasket Kleen and holy **** did that ever work! After leaving it 10 minutes or so to work its magic I was able to scrape most of the stuff off with a plastic scraper and a quick polish with scotchbrite finished it nicely. Sadly some well meaning idiot somewhere in the past (probably the one who overtightened the drain plug) seeing so leakage just started tightening everything in sight and managed to strip the M6 screw just above the drain plug. No room for a thread insert, so off today to find an M7 plug tap and screw.

Best part of day was letting our 8YO do 90% of changeover (car had been parked since spring) with a bit of help from his 6YO bro. Our 14YO has been able to do this stuff since their age, so fantastic to see 2 more garage kids coming along.
