Or loosen the blue cap slightly when storing, to allow the bottle to breathe past the threads of the cap.
Until you grab it by the cap to pick it up and then you have BIG leak!

Like the old prank of unscrewing the lid of the salt shaker... I wonder why I don't get invited to family Thanksgiving anymore?

Might be a good set to look at to supplement the astro nano. I just it all the time working on my BMWs

if you are looking for super tight access IMHO the Gear Wrench is a better set (i have both)

Only reason i say that is the Mayhew needs some nutwax to keep it in the wrench as there is no ball detent. The Gear wrench setup has the ball detents. Game changer when your buried deep in there

I mean this is GJ so you gotta have both right??

I was super disappointed with the Mayhew using it on a ratchet wrench and it just falls out.

Got these beauties from @shibertus today!

IMG_0809.jpeg
IMG_0810.jpeg

Yes, that’s right - 1/4” through 1” deep AND shallow. Super stoked to have these matching my metric set. I make no claims as to their performance (aside from never having let me down thus far) but these have to be the one of the best looking sockets out there. Can’t wait to get them to work and really put them through the paces.

Btw I received these 48hrs after sending @shibertus the money. Granted we live in the same city but he hustled to get these out. Products were as advertised, and professionally packaged. A+++ would buy again!

the traditional modification to wash bottles in labs is to poke a small hole in the lid. put a finger over it when you want to dispense it. With some lids, you can make a really small hole (like 0.25 mm or so) that doesn't need to be covered. I've got one with cutting oil in by the drill press, and before I did that it would drip out. Now it's only the stuff after the hook that drips out.

I got this Rockwell Mill, and Lista cabs back in Dec, I think I posted a pic here. Anyway, over the last 6 months I gave it a cosmetic resto, paint, badges, VFD, new lights, various accessories. Same with the Listas plus added butcher block tops. I finally got them setup together and milled my first practice piece today, a small window in 1/4" steel. The comical 1st try on the left and then a 2nd try that got better as I tried out a couple different cutters (which cut about the same). As a total mill newbie, got a lot to learn. This is really a crazy money pit if I'm honest, but hey, not my first. I just really like how having a mill expands the possibilities of what I can make or fix. There's a couple "before" pics at the front.

Been wanting a Rally box for a while… Stumbled across this one but the seller wouldn’t ship. Huge shout out to fellow member @930dreamer for picking it up and shipping to me! Similar condition ones are going for $100+ online. I managed to get for $55 shipped
Are you kidding? I have one in the garage. Same box, but w/o "Rally" stickers and a diff. color scheme. My drawers are red. I didn't pay even $55 for it new!

A few weeks ago I picked up the Witte “Pro” bit holder (middle), and it’s my favorite of its type. So I ordered another. While at it, I was wondering what the difference was in the Witte “Maxx”, as they are both $9 dollars and change at KCT, and appeared the same online other than the graphic design on the grip. Turns out the Maxx has a larger diameter grip and more pronounced tri-lobe shape. It will come in handy when I need the extra torque but the Pro is more comfortable to my hand for every day use.

Then this little Koken ratchet head with dual 3/8 receivers and a 3/8 knurled breaker.

This combo was probably not a smart purchase but at least it’s over with and I’ll stop wasting time looking at them. I have no idea what I’ll use either for. A 3/8 breaker bar? What’s that even for lol, I just felt like it went well with the rachet head.

I’ll say the ratchet head is my first Koken purchase that I was slightly bummed about. They never pack the stuff very well so it came out of its baggy and was sliding around loose in the box with the breaker. A bunch of little knicks. There is now some burrs on the selector I need it carefully file smooth.. they don’t look like much but they catch and annoy. The broaching on the one square drive is raw and sloppy and even a few degrees off, and very loose fitting for a Koken. Functionally it’s all perfect, just lost some points in the feel. I hope I find 100 uses for it but I am skeptical

I hate ALL of mine--almost all el-cheapos that came in big packs bought almost solely for fittings. Thus, looks like it's due for an upgrade with that one. $15 isn't painfully expensive, either. Especially given that it tends to be my most-used air tool.

Little word of advice--chucking a quick connect into the end of your hose when you can't find the blow gun is a BAD idea. Needed to clean out a vacuum filter recently, and I was half deaf for a week....

My advice -- even if you're using a blow nozzle, wear some hearing protection! If it's loud, I try not to hear it. It all adds up.

I’m real exited about this Heuer compact vise. The quick release button is a cool touch. It’s on the lighter/medium build, which is great for me. I can’t wait to make some custom jaws for it. I feel like I will want another one of these before long if my experience with this one goes well.

I picked up this Facom 115A.100 which is the perfect tool for breaking seized coilover lock nuts loose! I also picked up some set fillers; a red Craftsman screwdriver lot to get the #3 Phillips, a 22mm crowfoot, and some etorx plus.

IMG_7834.jpeg

Perfectly sized for most 60mm and 2-1/2” ID race spring perches!
IMG_7832.jpeg

Be sure to show that to the FACOM tools thread!

For me, it might be the opposite situation... I think the Mayhews will fit (and be retained) in the Astro 3/8" ecosystem nano wrenches and are all the same size drive (17mm). It's essentially another insert set for that system. The Gearwrench (and the others with ball detents) use 8mm 12mm or 15mm regular wrenches depending on the size...

But yes, trying to use the Astro nano sockets or the mayhews without a wrench with a retainer like the Astro wrenches is a fail.

Picked up a set of the Koken grip edge. I’m die hard snap on and this is only the 5th set of sockets that I own non snap on for reference. And I gotta admit I don’t hate them!

I’m going to start recommending these to my apprentices at work

My Koken collection is also growing quickly! I now have the nut grip in 1/2" and 3/8", their Z-series sockets in 3/8" and 1/4", and just ordered their "surface drive" sockets in 1/2" and 3/8". Oh, and the Koken ratchet collection is getting a bit out of hand as well...

When I find things I really like, I tend to collect a bunch of them. Ask me about 911 Turbos sometime ;-)

My only experience with Koken Ratchets is with their newer Z-series stuff and it has been uniformly excellent in quality and finish... That ratchet head looks like their older 24 tooth ratchet series?

I'll also stick up for the 3/8" breaker bar, or as Koken calls them, "flex handles". I find them extremely useful in non-gigantic sizes. With a socket on the end, it is often better than a box end wrench and with a crows foot, better than an open end. Great for holding back-side nuts/bolts when you are impacting off the other side.

ill see if I end up using that breaker! I have a stahlwille 1/4” on the way as well that I stumbled on a random deal too good to pass up.

and yup this ratchet head is based on the older low tooth non Z stuff. I have all Z series ratchets except 1, maybe I was spoiled by that. But I have so many of their sockets and the non-Z are just as quality as the Z they are just less showy and less compact. I really figured this thing would be a beauty but I guess it’s just for work 😂

Agree, their non-Z sockets are just as nice as the Z, just not quite as compact. I also have a non-Z 1/4" flex handle (2768P), it is a little gem!

Good for you! I’ve poked around those 911 turbos before they are really cool cars! Love it!

Whomever posted one of these a few pages ago got me. I've been looking for one that actually works and this one does, at least on my painted drywall walls. On the thick tile in the bathroom it gives some false positives. But I don't expect to be drilling any tile, and I can always just use it on the drywall above, so I'm happy!

Wow, I either need to stop speed-reading in this thread, or get better at it. All I caught at first was...

Super tight... nutwax... balls and buried deep...

Made the rounds this morning.

Home Depot for Milwaukee M12 drill kit

Harbor Freight for low speed 1/2" corded drill and some misc stuff.
Working on the keg urinal convinced me I needed a larger, low speed drill but I couldn't really justify a more expensive one. Only $44 for this one.

Menards for a second pair of Knipex 12" Cobra pliers

Bought a T-55 Torx bit from Napa. Best price ($8.69 CDN) and impact wrench ready. All others are more expensive and only hand tool rated. Ordered it on line, picked it up the next day, ordered two, at that price, just to be safe.

The job at hand is removing a bolt holding the rear bumper on to the trailer hitch, on a 2008 Dakota. Bumper is rusty and is going to be replaced.....sometime in the future when it cools down a bit.

I use those on the awful 10mm Allen/hex front diff fill plugs on 1st gen Tacomas. They bite more.

Then I replace the plugs with 14mm hex heads.

Is that nut wax on the B-pillar trim? Too much nut grip in the passenger seat? :ROFLMAO:

BTW, never heard the term "nut wax" before, but I'm definitely going to use it.

^ USPS rates just went up. I just shipped a priority padded envelope this morning for $11.00, so I don't know how you would ship that box for $55.00 - that sounds too low.
It's a good box. I drove over it with my truck about a month after I bought it. Kicked it a couple times and put it back in order. Works fine.

🤣🤣🤣 it’s actually a thing bro! Works great!

Unfortunately they closed their doors. Was made by a company named waximillion. I’ve used it for years!

He can say "I have more socket sets than most people do sockets"

lol you guys are hilarious and hardly the case! I’ve seen some of the stuff you guys have incredible!

Finally upgraded my table saw from an old Craftsman 8", underpowered, small, unsquare no matter what, model to a Skil 10" 15amp model. So much nicer! Can't wait to run it through its paces - got it from Amazon, great reviews, just at $300 shipped. For a weekend warrior like me it should be plenty!
