HF 3 Ton Daytona Floor Jack

I pulled trigger on this sale since I don’t have floor Jack at all. Since it’s tool that I will use on occasion I choose HF. I know you get what you pay for but price was worth me rolling dice. I hate asking this since I already purchase it, wondering if any other members has this Jack if your happy?

This is the best all around jack that HF makes in my opinion. You see it everywhere around mechanic shops and tire service businesses. It’s so frikkin awesome, I might pull the trigger and buy a second. For home use, it’ll last you decades and decades if you just change out the jack oil every 6 years or so.

I'm no hf fan but I've always had good luck with their other jacks including ld crappy used orange ones from garage sales.

An old Snap-on ya 462 ? Was the best I ever used though.

I just checked mine is also 3-ton but it's the "Super-duty" version not low profile. I'm sure yours will be just fine.

HF jacks are good actually, my 2 ton low profile is 15 years old now and I've been overloading it on gravel and doing all sorts of bad things to it. Only maintenance I've ever done to it is wipe off the dirt when it gets gross.

Snap-on lost the lawsuit.

If you read the judge's ruling on the case you will find that (a) there are very few differences between the Snap-on version of this jack and the Harbor Freight equivalent and (b) both jacks are manufactured in the same facility in China (PRC) and (C) other than a minor difference in the way one of the panels is shaped, you wouldn't be able to tell the two apart in the dark.

Of course, you can bet money the Snap-on fanboys will toss out red-herring arguments about "quality of steel", notwithstanding no metallurgical testing has been done on either model.

The unit I saw at O'Reilly's Auto Parts appears to be identical as well, although it's significantly less money than the Harbor Freight model.
I suppose a side-by-side comparison might turn up some differences, but that remains to be seen.

No. The one they sued over is the 3 ton heavy duty model with the 3 year warranty. This long reach is basically a standard Daytona jack but with added length and a 90 day warranty.

Yeah mine is the Superduty with the flared out sides that looks like the Snap-on jack I wasn't sure when I first responded. I'm sure the jack OP bought will be fine though.

Fwiw I got their monster orange floor jack for probably 18 years, the low profile floor jack probably 10 and then the small aluminum jack five or six years

They all work just like a floor jack every time I need them

No need to feel guilty about buying a value product IMO professional truck shops, using harbor freight jacks

Yes I have the Daytona F.J. and have been using it for all my oil changes for about 5years, no issues, I always turn the handle all the way open, when im not using it!

Maybe these new ones are better quality than the old orange line, but I moved on and spent much more $ on HW and AC floorjacks.

Saying that, the new Daytona line has gotten very good reviews here and it seems like almost everyone likes them.

i have that same jack. you will love it. used mine yesterday. it replaced an old art deco blackhawk that finally had a terminal failure.

it is more agile, sits lower, lifts as high and takes up less room. so impressed i bought a smaller aluminum one to compliment it. the 2 take up less room than the old blackhawk.

The Daytona series of Jacks started with just the Super Duty (the larger one with the 3 year warranty that was subject to a lawsuit by Snap-on) were debuted by Harbor freight in 2016.

The expanded line of Daytona floor jacks (similar looking to the Super Duty but with smaller frames and wheels and the same 90 day warranty as their previous Pittsburgh lineup), that included the OP's long reach low profile, debuted by Harbor Freight in 2018.

If yours is a Daytona, perhaps it just seems like you've had it 15 years already. I got my Super Duty in 2016 and if I didn't just recently look it up I'd have sworn I've had it a lot longer than that.

I had to go out and look, it's actually a Central Hydraulics but I figured all the non-Super Duty jacks are pretty much the same.


Doesn't like lifting full size trucks a whole lot but it does do it.

Makes a creaking noise when I raise cars. Is this normal? No big deal.

Recently bought the lightweight aluminum floor jack from Advance Auto with a coupon. HF sells the same model as Pittsburgh.
At 35 lbs. it's very portable and ideal for road trips.

I can't remember if mine is the long reach or not but I think I only paid $160 last year. I wish I had of picked up two of them. I never thought having two jacks would be so useful but it is. My old jack is a Michelin bought from Sam's Club, it must be 25 years old now. It's been a good jack but it's getting a little ratty.

I believe this one is made at the same factory as the Snappy. Like others have mentioned, you'll see this jack in the bays of many auto shops. I'm going to pick up one these for home use pretty soon.

Creaking noise? Have you lubricated all of the pivot points. Raises a lot easier. Two things I've noticed over the years that people neglect to lube is hydraulic jacks and ratchets. Of course I'm sure many GJ'ers here do both.

my HF jack (a pittsburgh, not a daytona) has a grease zerk for the pivot that is a size i've never seen a tip for, quite a bit smaller than a standard one. It's not a flush fitting or a button, or pin lock, it's a normal fitting, just small. I've been meaning to replace it since I got the jack....

Buying a cheap jack is getting what you paid for. The expensive ones are usyslly over priced.
All the ones I've bought new are cheap ones and I've never gadva problem. Other then one likes to bleed down if you leave a load on it.. which only forces you to use stands.

Only you know what you drive/work on. The low profile IMHO, wouldn't be worth it if all you deal with are factory or lifted trucks. Same with the superduty to professional. Look at the specs, lift height differences, that fit your needs.

Love them both.
IMHO, there best bang for the buck.

Got the green low profile a couple weeks ago, on sale for $99.

Drive by your local tire shops and independent mechanics and I bet you see at least 1 or 2 of these jacks in use. They are great jacks, and even better for homeowners. I have one of these and one of the 1-1/2 ton aluminum jacks in the garage and I love them.

I bought the same one in black for my dad awhile black.

It replaced his 40 year old Japanese Sears jack. It's been great so far. May not last 40 years, but he won't either.
