I didn't even counter or make any kind of remark on the glide path to countering, because I know him and I've gotten over on him on some rare finds by brands (he only knows and values Snap-on, MAC, SK, and Craftsman) and even some types of tools he knows nothing about. He's the kind of vendor I try to maintain a vague disingenuous relationship with. I never correct him, first of all. I just shake my head up and down or react indifferently to everything he says, which is a lot and often, even though he is very often wrong. It helps to play dumb sometimes.

Here is 2nd post in my S-K journey
20250926_202107.jpg
3/4" Wrenches most used and least cleaned I've seen so Two S-K and S-K tools. Will prefect cleaning on some low quality Taiwan no name wrenches.
Two examples of S-K 11/16" combo wrenches
S-K Tools 9/16" combo
Lectrolite 1/2" combo
3/8" Combo in Lectrolite and S-K Tools
Finally a 1/4" Lectrolite Combo
Hadn't seen any 6 point wrenches before outside the Craftsman sets I bought sometime after 2004 on clearance. Excluding ignition wrenches. But the 3/8" and 1/4" are 6 pt.

Looks like SK derived their model numbers a the equivalent of the top number of the size in 32s. I've got tons of them and never noticed that!

We found some S-K tools at various sales in Nevada today. These 3/4” drive tools were coated with some kind of difficult to remove waxy substance. I’m slowly making progress with the cleaning. IMG_4279.jpeg
Some progress with the cleaning process. IMG_4294.jpegIMG_4293.jpegIMG_4295.jpeg
Here is a 3/8” drive ratchet and a 1/2” drive unmarked prewar speeder from another sale.IMG_4284.jpeg

I’ve finished cleaning up the 3/4” drive tools found on Friday. They aren’t perfect but they are good enough for me. IMG_4299.jpegIMG_4300.jpeg
Found these at a sale yesterday.

A recent eBay arrival. IMG_4298.jpegIMG_4297.jpeg
Most of these 3/8” drive flex handles have the logo on one side and the part number on the opposite side but I received one recently where both logo and part number are on the same side. IMG_3947.jpeg
Has anyone else run across this? It’s difficult to tell when these were made.

Don -Took a look at my S-K sockets as I knew I had a 10mm but it was a S-K Wayne variant.

Looking for a bit of help on what might gone in this box.20250930_220442.jpg

I'll probably store my sockets in this maybe my wrenches but curious if I could get an idea of when this is from and what might in it. Thinking pre Wayne but not sure.

Any help is appreciated

Edit Forgot the dimensions 17 1/2" Long by 4" wide and the height is about 1 1/4" .

The presence of the metal tag with rivets is suppose to make a very small window.

Check posts 2 & 3 here

Probably between “58 and “61. The details in the catalogs are somewhat hard to make out. The earlier sets have a socket tray. IMG_8578.jpegIMG_8579.jpeg

Referring to posts 85213-85216 about the socket trays: If you didn't know, there are two depths of the socket trays, depending on whether the sockets are flat-based or cup-based. It can be annoying to find ones that fit, since short ones will fall out of the tall trays, and tall sockets won't fit in the short trays. I have both styles in metric. Anyone have a spare 12 point 308 socket?

Whew. Scared me for a bit there.

I've had to deal with my share of time travelers. They're always, of course, entitled trustifarians who have no idea of the meaning of consequences. Fortunately, as they're from the future, they won't be missed for quite a while.

That may explain some of the "unidentified body found" stories... :ROFLMAO:

We will get there, eventually. Maybe not in our lifetime, but eventually.
Based on current metrics (5,235 posts in 3,910 days, which is a rate of ~1.34 posts per day) and linear progression, this thread would reach post #85,213 (79,978 posts from now), in 69,222 days, on or about April 18, 2215. In 190 years, @Outlawmws 's cryogenic representation will be touting the replacement of all synchotron nanostructure accelerator bulbs in flashlights with triphasic dark matter, and @Beerhippie 's microbrewery will be tapping into his digitally preserved rapid access memories to repair the line between the desalinator and the synthetic fonio fermentation tank.

I finally cleaned up a recent find: 1930's No. 4237 1/2"-drive socket set. It has the #40253 breaker bar, a cross-bar and ten "SK-Chrome" sockets which are all marked with their respective fractional sizes, but no model numbers. The clasp is a little “short”, but otherwise the set is in good condition. I think @3baygarage posted a similar one a few years back.

Bought this week with a job lot of WW2 era Snap-on 9/32" drive specialty carburetor sockets.

3/8" drive 5/8" swivel socket. WW2 era cad plate 40620, no SK branding, but that is the correct SK part number. No signs of it ever having been used.

Question for the group...people report that they cleaned up the vintage items. They either were in really great shape but look polished. Curious if buffing and polishing these items ruins their desirability?
