My finds for the week. Grill is in great shape except for the flavorizer bars, they are completely rotten.

Dewalt P2 bit looks brand new after a min with the wire brush

There's a guy on ebay that sells stainless Flavorizer bars, if you intend to keep that for yourself.

The closest I have ever came to finding a tool in the road was a button cell that was literally within the asphalt, it became one with the road. I couldn't pull it out of the road. It must have found it's way into the asphalt when the road was being built, and will likely for ever be stuck there.

Don't know if a thread like this has been done, but I was wondering what kinds of tools you have found in the road over the years. My first one I think was years ago when I lived in Atlanta. I was working at an NTW ( now NTB). There was an access road to Peachtree Industrial blvd in front of the shop. I glanced out one day and saw something really big in the road. I went out and dang if it wasn't a whole craftsman table saw. The legs were broken and the blade was bent but otherwise fine. No one ever came looking for it and I still have it to this day.

I have also found a Mac pry bar, several matco sockets, screwdrivers, and a 3/8 Craftsman ratchet. The ratchet was funny. I was driving with my wife one day, we came around a bend and it was in the middle of the road. I just say "whoa" and pulled over on the shoulder. My wife's like "What? What?". "That was a Craftsman ratchet in the road back there." "How in the world do you know it was a craftsman?",she said. "I can tell by the shape of it." That dumbfounded her.

I have also found a ton of good bungee cords and most recently a brand new roll of twine.

Keep your eyes peeled. There's always something falling out of or off of people's vehicles.
As a funny side note… We are in the process of upgrading our outside yard since we moved in.
Removed to pool and found numerous rusty wrenches and pliers, removed the banana trees and large fountain only to find several utility knives under the landscape fabric.
There is a hammer under the deck , but at 77 I’m putting that off as I will have to crawl way under the deck to retrieve it!! lOL..

Long stick with a magnet taped to the end. You're welcome.

Found this yesterday DieHard 8mm. I remember Diehard batteries, but didn’t know they had socket too.
One of my favorite brands. Sold at Advance Auto Parts. Haven’t bought any in awhile but still one of my favorite brands. The chrome likes to flake on them but they warranty with no problems at least they have for me.

Send me an IM if you are ever in the Atlanta area; you can have my one and only Diehard socket.

I think "found at dump" and "found on road" are pretty much the same....

I made a dump run with a buddy who's cleaning out his garage on Sunday. As we backed up to the metal pile, I stepped out of the cab and onto this:

Right beside it was this:

I searched the rest of the large scrap metal pile and that was all I brought home.

I found this in the middle of the street only about 100 feet from my house:

It had leaky batteries in it, and the battery door had come off, but fortunately I found it a few feet away.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work right:

So it's only good for teasing the dog.

Falling from a moving truck has been known to be deleterious to collimnation.

I saw a brake caliper hanging hook laying on the traffic circle median the other day and unfortunately didn’t have a place to pull over. I wanted to get it so badly. I’ve lost so many of them it’s probably mine haha.

Two 6" crescent wrenches when renovating/digging in the back yard of the house we bought 18 yrs ago.
Still have one of 'em, but I rarely use crescent wrenches so it doesn't do me much good.
Also, several screwdrivers and some smaller tools. Nothing worth mentioning.

Probably lost more than I found. Or lent out, and didn't get back.

@mikeinri , nice find, medical tools count too!

Here is a find from outside the local post office. MLW found this one. Second tool found here in the course of several years.

This is a 13.5" Klein Tools screwdriver, with a 3/8" tip. Little bit of road rash.

Previous find was a monster MKE tape measure, 25 or 30'. Left a note in the PO for a week, no one responded, so I kept it.

Think these both came from people making illegal U turns too fast .
