Ran the printer for the first time in a while. The resin pump was struggling. Got it cleaned up and it's working again.

Continued fitting the desk together. It's upside down.

Because the plywood is 23/32" not 3/4". I ended up 1/16" shy on the back panel.
I have another sheet of ply. I cut a new one. I will need to duplicate the joinery. I'm thankful that I didn't get all fancy with the joinery. Biscuits and pocket screws.

Started carb disassembly on a beetle carb. This was not very tidy. First trip was a bath then disassembly and more cleaning , and it did not smell very good. Noticed part of the linkage is bent, so I'll straighten that before assembly. Gasket/rebuild set on order. More cleaning and hole poking to come.

We, too, are forecast to get an inaugural dump of at least five inches of snow starting, oh, six hours ago. Still pretty sunny this evening, but the forecast was so dire we have all been scurrying around all week getting ready for Snowpocalypse25. Needless to say, I am more prepared than I have ever been, needlessly. No snow, no snow, ho hum, I guess I’ll go find something to do in the shop while waiting for the snow.

Top of the pile of short term projects stacked on the benches is this Schmidt snowplow mount for the Unimog. It got a hellacious bend and twist on someone else’s Mog (when a Mog gets stuck, something WILL bend pulling it out). For $80 I can afford to try to fix it instead of buying and shipping in a good mount for $600+.
Anyway, I have already posted about straightening it to the limits of my small hydraulic press, but fixing the twist was a brain-wracker until I finally rediscovered my Dumpster-sourced 36” pipe wrench someone had unsuccessfully modified then tossed.
Once I figured out how to sorta safely clamp it to the table (yet still apply epic torque) and finding a suitable chain comealong with just the right size shackle to connect the two, the experiment could begin.

After flattening but before untwisting:

During:

-still figuring out whether cold overbending will be sufficient, or heat will be required, too. I can’t tell if it is fabricated or forged or both.
If I call in a couple favors I could borrow a PMI nuker to find out what exactly the alloy is and see if heat is warranted. For now, I’m just sneaking up on overtwisting to see if it will hold straight.
Need photos of the Unimog. I have wanted one since I was a pre-teen in Germany, never owned one though so I live through others.

I got nothing done last night. I meant to stop by the hardware store on the way home, but was so irritated after getting new tires put on as I had a bearing going out that I thought was a brake issue. I will stop after breakfast today, get the parts needed for the bed mount on the lathe. I could have sworn that I had some 4" 1/2-13 screws, but no.

- MAF came in - installed - discovered another dead battery after overnight disconnect from the charger - replaced with my last "good" one that still holds a charge... changing battery cleared the codes - test drove - stopped and started 5 times, no CEL! I'll run it on the freeway some this evening and take it it for smog testing tomorrow AM if it holds...
Gah! D0155 O2 sensor code came back a mile into the freeway! I'm thinking its a defective O2 sensor so maybe try swapping bank 1 & 2 sensors?

Sounds like some of her things may go in that pile.
The things aren't even related to the garage sale...

She was cleaning up around the deep freeze and broke the wire that goes to the garage door sensor. I had to go re-attach that.

Then she went out to the chicken pen and discovered a chicken is egg-bound, so I had to help catch the chicken and setup an epsom-salt bath for it to sit in.

👀 make her a sandwich and cut it asymmetrically with gross negligence. By this I mean; Make one “half” bigger than the other “half.”
😃 if the sandwich is unacceptable, you may be dealing with somebody who has a little tiny bit of OCD. 🤏 be that the case, always do with the doctor ordered… whatever she tell ya.
OCD? No. ADD? Yes. I'd make her a sandwich, but she'd only eat half of it before she moved on to some other project before finishing the first one. 'Focus' is not her strong suit.

I'm working on my favorite thing - plumbing improvements. I'm running 1-1/4" PEX to the house water pump instead of PVC as it's a bit more resilient, handles vibration, and is just better all around. I've had several failures related to PVC on that pump and different events.. Added monitoring of pump temperature, water flow, a pump protector. It's a science lab in there.

All our water comes from storing rain water.

But 1-1/4" is a bit of an odd size. I comes in a coil, bending it *****, heating it *****, and all the fittings aren't cheap... You can't get fittings at a hardware store.

I really like 1/2 and 3/4" pex. I'll do that all day long...

Here's my attempt today to shape a 1-1/4" piece that feeds the water pump:

Up for suggestions if I'm doing it wrong...

new TIPM, fuses, Silverstar incandescent bulbs (P.O. put LEDS wherever he could, only way I will go is high quality LED headlights, light bar and tailgate bar), new tail light housings. Now to see what this tool comes about with.

Kid's challenger was throwing a P0128 code. Tstat seems common in these pentastar engines. 11 years & 110k+ seems like we got our money's worth out of the 1st one. Easy peasy change. Happy to get an OE part.

Then i dug into his dash - his apple car play stopped working on the head unit i installed like 5 years ago. The dash was out this spring for an evaporator, was hoping to find a loose wire. Nope. Best i can figure is a usb cable **** out. Was using the factory usb in the console box, but it chains like 3 together from console to radio. Now it has a clean single lead from the head unit to the console box. All the OE stuff is gone now. Works great.

Test drives proved fruitful on both fronts. Big car has some pickup for a v6. Rides nice, but has the steering input of a 73 chevelle, lol. Test drive did highlight a wet seatbelt. On my inquiry, kid says oh yeah, does that when it rains (rained last night). So now i have a new project.

Then i started the annual leaves....

Yesterday I was able to pick up the hardware I needed for the lathe table
54907888477_432ff38c10_b.jpg
And moved the bed down into the basement.

And, by the way, moving 115 pounds of cast iron lathe bed across a grassy slope while walking with a cane is not an easy thing to do. Getting it down a flight of stairs into the basement without damaging it it also not an easy thing to do.

Worked on a hallway bench to replace a cheap store bought one. It's white oak and maple. Not sure what I'm going to do for seat portion yet. Miss calculated a fastener location, trying to sort it out. I'll know tomorrow if my solution works. Pulled the boat out, cleaned the floor of my overfull 18x30. Glued two cutting boards up, scrap from the table and bench project. Pics, no order

I'm sure its been repeated many times before, I spent the (last couple of) day(s) un-🦆-ing some pathetic work done by previous owners on my current project, my '77 Cherokee Chief (in homage to the StanceWorks crew, I call mine "Rusty Spammington").
  • Gutted the entire interior. Added one of the new custom seats so it can be moved around.
  • Removed the old tombstone tank and entire fuel system. Surprised this thing never caught fire. It was B-A-D.
  • Removed the majority of the old and unnecessary wiring to make way for Dakota Digital dashboard (nothing but speedo worked).
  • Removed the ammeter loop, a well-known electrical fire hazard on these old Jeeps
  • Removed a ridiculous amount of "stereo equipment" which was stuffed up under the dashboard and has no business being there.
Now it's time to start ordering all the parts to rebuild it the right way

Had a young buck come up to the house probably proud he had just tossed his antlers.

He stood there looking in on me and munching on stuff in the yard for about ten minutes.

They are in the rut, and this time of year they will only do three things... all start with an F.

Feed and Fight are the first two...

I thought so too, but I could clearly see ****** stumps... I thought I had a better picture showing it, it's been an odd year weather wise, who knows?

I was looking it up, its very early for shedding unless the deer has a drop in testosterone. Maybe he injured himself?

And take look around, maybe you can fine them.
