Thank you for sharing this great video. On so many levels this is so amazing. Above all, it restores ones faith in humanity.
Been out in the Grizz’s Folly car again, it is an addiction for sure. So quick to have turned me from everything else I have to drive.
On the way home I decided to stop by the at my favourite hand car wash.
Pressure cleaned, hand washed, “spray polish” pressure washed again and hand dried and wheels detailed.
Nothing much, but despite getting home after 4.00pm with failing light, you can see a noticeable difference from the dull car I have driven the last week.
Paint is obviously unchanged, still damaged, faded, lacquer peeled, peeled but cleaning it up has certainly opened up the longer, sleek lines of the car, that can be missed by distractions and negative press and opinions.
I am really thinking that this car can benefit from no more than 50mm or 2 inches of lowering. Just need to figure out how cheaply we can do it in England with locally available spring ms and shock absorbers

Couple of things today.
One is a question for those who actually own(ed) one of these cars.
The seller told me it has three, that is 3 keys
.
1. Ignition
2. Door
3. Trunk
And that they were not interchangeable.
So without checking, I went to my trusted locksmith to have a spare set of door and trunk keys cut, there are two “chipped” ignition keys.
Locksmith looked for barely a moment and said, no need, they are the same key.
I looked and yes, they looked the same.
Got home later and tested them, “door key” opened the trunk but “trunk key” wasn’t opening the door.
So today I drove the olds down there and we tested the keys together…….
Lo and behold….. miracle time.
Both keys interchanged, BUT, both also refused in both applications.
Maybe some WD40 into the barrels???
QUESTION: Do these cars come with three or two functional keys for ignition and then doors and trunk??
In other news.
Before starting the car up, I tested the battery. Keeping in mind we are below freezing here.
12 volts.
Started it on that power.
Engine running, I tested over terminals 14.4 volts
So by implication, Alternator is working.
So maybe a parasitic drain somewhere, or maybe just a historical mly bad battery brand letting us down.
My £4.95 stick on, rear view mirror also landed. Installed and so much better.
I also fitted the mobile phone holder that I removed from my lodger, Pedros written off car when I prepared it for scrap collection.
And lastly, after some food shopping, on the way home, I got the car washed.
Those guys certainly earned their £10.00 in this freezing weather.
And the car looks so much better.

As I recall for my Olds, it had an ignition key and a door key that also operated the trunk and also the glove box lock. If you haven't tried the third key in the glove box lock, see if it is for that.

Can you get the battery tested? That should tell you if you have compromised cells.

I am not rejecting the advice, because I ask for it.
The hood light is missing its lightbulb.
I am still convinced the Lion battery is failing.
I fitted a new one (with 3 year warranty) to Sallys car in April.
By November it was failing.
Obviously I am looking at all the fault options to eliminate them.
BUT….. minus 4’C or almost 30’F means its slightly unpleasant.
I have actually not even fitted the replacement battery.

You probably have a "valet parking key" this starts and locks the car but does not open the glove box and boot so the parking guy cannot get into your boot or glove box while you visit the restaurant. Volvo had this also in the past.

But…
I took a photo of the keys I have.
The more I looked the more it seems the seller hand over was slightly flawed.
I am going to remove the non-GM door/trunk key and hope that works out for me.
Would hate to get stuck where I can’t get in…..

. You can put a meter in current mode inline with the battery see what the draw is with nothing on. Then pull a fuse at a time to try to find the source of the draw.

I use a 12 volt bulb, like a tail light in series with the positive battery terminal and if there is a drain, the bulb lights up. Then do as suggested, remove a fuse at a time until the light goes out,and that is the circuit causing the drain. An old school test light can be used in place of a loose bulb, just use what you have.

I also found in the last week that the door hinges and locks were all tight and uncooperative in some cases.
So today I investigated and I guess solved to some extent these problems.
I also got in under the hood a bit.
Outside temperature was 4’C with a breeze.
A quick video for anyone interested in watching videos.

From my 80s Olds days the separate ignition and door/trunk keys was so one could put your valuable stuff in the trunk and keep that key while you gave the ignition key to the guy/gal who parks your car at a grand hotel or restaurant.

A day of snow fall like this and the crazy kids in the neighborhood start ridng their snowmobiles in the neighborhood which of course is illegal and potentially dangerous.

Coming to this conclusion.

Just need to figure the lug nuts out that will hold these onto my hubs.

So I just need my (well, the wheels) nuts to be M12 with an appropriate chamfer to accommodate the Dodge alloys.
A bit more research shows this……

Great job as per usual!
Here's one that will test your skill set. I read on a forum a long time ago of a guy who painted a car with foam rollers and thinned Rust-Oleum paint. I believe he was in Canada and used the Canadian equivalent of that paint and it was done on a Dodge Charger. It looked pretty darn good in the pictures. Find a base color and paint it like that and then add even more to your skill set by putting some nice pinstripes down the side in that metallic looking lime green that compliments the base color. As usual, take this with a grain of salt. I'm in the your car/your colors & modifications camp.
