With all this CD ripping talk, I have a question. Why do my playback devices not read/play certain tracks? I know nothing about any of this really. I rip CDs on my laptop with microsoft media player (I do prefer the older one), then put those onto a thumb drive or onto my phone. Whether using an aftmarket or factory unit in my cars (I use thumb drive in the cars) or different players on my phone (VLC & double Twist) there are a lot of tracks that wont play/arent recognized. What am I doing wrong?

Much depends on the format of the recording and the format of your player. For example, if your music is all ripped into .ALAC your specific player may not recognize it. If you convert to .mp3 you should have no issue as that is a more “universal” codec.

Two ways I solved the phone to computer problem. First was to connect my phone to the computer using usb cable connection which worked okay but kinda time consuming. Second, and current, method is to connect via bluetooth and selecting individual files to transmit. Very quick and easy (once you figure it out the first time).
Or you could email the photo from your phone to yourself, open the email on your computer then save to your local drive. This works well if you are just dealing with a few photos.

That's what isn't currently working. I probably need to clean up some space on both ends.

I worked on a friend’s dump truck. He needed new springs and the perches are not lining up. I called a local suspension shop and they said they pry leaf springs over up to 1.5” to get them to line up!!

I don’t see that as an ok solution, but my friend was here during the call and told me to “send it”, so that’s what we will do. They are “only” about .5-.6” off, but that’s more than I like.

Sometimes you have to loosen up the other side and make sure the axle is centered.

Are you mounting the springs in the hangers first or on the perches first?
Sometimes if you hang them loose in the hangers/shackle then use a ratcheting strap to pull them together on the axle perches it's easier
I put them in the hangers first. I can pry it over to get it to line up, but that’s not how it should be. If it was my truck, they would get cut off and put back where they belong.

It has been a long while since I ripped a CD. I, too, have experienced problems with some tracks not playing. If I remember right, I discovered errors in the data that describes the title, artist, etc, that when corrected allowed the track to play.

Has anything been changed like the perches or the housing?
If not I say maybe look at the hangers are they bent up causing the springs to angle out?
Or the rails are twisted.

This is a problem I only encountered in the last few generations of MP3 players. I have over 4,000 tracks in my collection and my newer players only seem to recognize a few hundred.

need to fix that. Maybe a better MP3 player?

I believe the axle is a replacement because it is a dually axle on an f250. It is still a sterling, so it should bolt right in. The hangers and shackes are new and the frame looks straight.

Not my garage, but at a friends repair shop.
2011 Impala 3.9V6.

Back valve cover gasket had a leak.
What an ordeal to get the valve cover off.

Coolant crossover pipe assembly covers one of the 8mm bolts for valve cover.

Remove serpentine belt

Alternator has to come out - for one of the three bolts a half moon wrench is needed to get it off

Remove three pulleys to get to 15mm bolts for the crossover pipe

Power steering pump has to be moved too

Some other bits

Not done yet, tomorrow I will install 2 new coolant crossover gaskets and button it up. Fresh plugs, will be getting new coolant as well.

Friends and family, tell them to avoid these cars unless they can do their own work. Quality is meh.

At 95000 I have replaced rack and pinion, passenger side engine mount, passenger side wheel hub assembly (ABS wiring broke right at the sensor - could not solder what was left), HVAC actuators (2 on passenger side). It was my parents second vehicle, not abused.

As soon as it is all back together up for sale it goes. Much prefer working on Honda/Toyota/Mazda passenger vehicles myself.

I've had some problematic tracks. Usually traced back to cd issues, scratches, etc. Using EAC seemed to help identify problems. As an android guy, I convert everything to lossless flac. Haven't done that in a while.

So anyway, back to the washing machine. I replaced a little valve under this hose. I think that was the main issue. It allowed water out a vent. We'll see I guess.

I haven't done a lot for a while. I got a case of gout and could hardly walk. I finally was able to get out there tonight and started doing some organizing and labeling. I am looking for all of my wagon parts that are in boxes around my garage. I can't spend too much time on my feet so I roll my chair into the area where I'm organizing and sit down with a box in my lap. It hurts but I'm getting something done. In just an hour I have already organized and consolidated enough to gain a shelf and a half. I hope to be fully back at it by this weekend.

I removed all the old bushings in my Turbo 350 rebuild. These are just a few of the bushings I took a picture of. As you can see, they say GM on them so I’m assuming they are original and at least these were never changed out since rolling off the assembly line in 72.

That is what I initially thought but I get the same issue over numerous different players; factory car stereo, aftermarket car stereo, Sandisc player, two different phone apps. Not always the same tracks either. Some music I have gotten from others but a lot of it is from CDs that I own. Irritating.

Started to layout the tools from the tool roll that is kept in the daily driver. Had pulled it to bring to the shop when I worked on Ranger Ric. It was a mess and need to re-organize and assess what I'm missing....

I'm glad you posted this. Rode with my daughter in her Expedition the other day and hear this terrible rattling noise so, of course being nosey, I suggested we looked at what's making the racket. Oh, that's my tool box. (both my daughters are not afraid to do a little wrenching when necessary)
So, your tool roll may be a better option than the tool bag I suggested.
My wife pointed out that in a bag you must 'dig through' everything to find the right tool whereas with a tool 'box' you can see what's where. ;)

I like the tool roll because I can hide it under the floor in the back of my Mini. It keeps the area in back free for Estate Sale finds :ROFLMAO:
I have to admit that when accessing, I still end up opening most of the compartments to find what I’m looking because of its infrequent use, I never remember which compartment contains the tool I’m looking for!

We had one like that in our house growing up. Never saw it used, don't really remember the top open TBH. There was some other old player too in a less ornate but wider and shorter square box. When we cleaned out the house they got given to someone. I don't think we had any media. So is that a Victrola?

We had one of these gems too (a lot like this one), that still worked. I would play mom's records that i liked when i was a kid, like the 1812 Overture.
