Ok, not quite a GS find…. But I thought I’d share it here any way. Got a new QC mgr at work and they wanted to clean house. They wete buying new and most of these were still in calibration and not due to check till 27. I missed the first load by dumb luck, but scored the second load on Thursday. Only stipulation / cost was it had to leave the shop ASAP. There should be more after the weekend, height gauges and such….So far everything has checked out fine, been using my gage blocks all around the dial. Right place at the right time…

We headed to town to try and straighten out our ballot situation and vote. There were five election workers and us two in the polling place so we got squared away in a hurry. We wanted to check out a free estate sale I spotted on my wife’s facebook account. Unfortunately, anything of value to us was already gone. I grabbed a piece of redwood lumber and a couple of steak knives. From there we found a series of TOOs and picked up a few items here and there.IMG_8621.jpeg
The TOO with the light bulbs also produced the 1945 hatchet sheath. IMG_8627.jpegIMG_8628.jpeg
Another stop had a #2 Snap-on screwdriver in good condition. It went right into my user box.IMG_8624.jpeg
IMG_8625.jpegI found a short Thorsen extension at another sale.IMG_8626.jpeg
The 6” perfect handle screwdriver was unmarked. I buffed off most of the rust.IMG_8631.jpegIMG_8632.jpeg

Thanks for the **** guys…🙏 I still feel horrible about the first box. It had to be three times this one. One of my biggest peeves is waste. I hate to see it. I completely support their decision based on time alone. I have all the hours I need to go thru this stuff, but at a decent labor rate in the shop, it makes no sense. Business decision. Stay tuned for more, my shop is filling up… 😉

The flea market gods came shining down in a funny way yesterday.

I went a little later, and only made it to the tiny outdoor flea market. There were six whole vendors. Luckily a storage guy was there with a truckload.

I took my time looking and pulled these out. I was actually satisfied because the old Blackhawk 1/4” sockets in a tool bag of mostly modern junk were a nice surprise and made my day.

Other finds include a 1/2” Powrkraft extension, 3/8” Dayton swivel, 17mm Gearwrench, and Ridgid inside tubing cutter for cheap.

There wasn’t much else to look at. After a trip to the car, I went back to look at another vendor’s household wares and had an internal battle over a piece of cookware which I ended up buying.

Suddenly, as I’m talking to that vendor someone pointed out a guy who popped up next to him with a trailer. By now it’s 10 something in the morning and these guys were making comments about him setting up so late. The guy was putting out lots of old power tools and misc.. I moseyed on over and asked if he had any hand tools. He reached in the trailer and plopped a full mail tote on his tarp. That really made my day.

I parked myself there in the melting sun and examined every piece as I had the bin to myself. For 30 bucks we were both happy.

My tiny haul, after getting shut out at a ranch flea market. Saw the same 10" wide vise as last time I went, and still passed it by.

Backstory
As we went out to walk the dogs yesterday, I saw a Lawson box at the curb at the neighbor's, and forgot to pick it up yesterday.

So I was reminded today, and stopped by today on my way to grab dinner. It is filled with some electrical construction components, which will get rehomed, and this box will get added to my component storage stack.

Slow rainy morning, only 1 sale found! Small haul for a 5 spot.

Estwing pry bar
Craftsman professional #4 Phillips
1/2” Armstrong combo
Craftsman 1/4” 43175 ratchet
Utica B5458 pliers, nippers, I have no idea but pretty interesting. Anybody know anything about them. Well constructed

IMG_7395.jpegIMG_7396.jpeg
Utica made a couple compound leverage tools similar to that. No3 end nipper @Outlawmws showed, and No24 seal press (No 1375 seal press had differently shaped side plates). Though similar to those, the jaws look different. Possibly B5458 is special/contract, because I don’t see it in catalogs.

This was a fun one for a change. A hoarder in his 90s passed away. The 1950's toy boat is pretty cool. All in for $60. They are opening up some Storage sheds tomorrow, and I'll be there.
Suckage for that totally fun pull, from the 5.56 cartridges, the Lionel watch, boat and nice Wilton vise.

So I was able to do a rough sort on The Bucket from a couple nights ago. The majority of the sockets listed as "Craftsman " are just that with some None Better, and some odds and ends mixed in but 99% Cman. I'll refine the sorting at a later time. I was able to while sorting pull out the obvious Kobalt due to the red blue bands, I also kept the Companion stuff separate as I have a handful of that, Snap On was obvious in it's own tray.

Slowish day, probably due to the 3 day W/E:
A free sale and picked up a stack of short square buckets, 4 jumpers, Umbrella in great shape (for the T-van), Long bracket (material), rafter hook (Tire?), 2 big Tire chocks, can of Bic lighters (all but one worked, I figured a lifetime supply of flints otherwise), 2 Glider kit set w/book, a phone charger, 20 odd loupe magnifiers (Baggie), and a stubby driver

Second stop nada, third stop some free, some not - Free:

Table top ironing board, (for my youngest daughter, she's hot and heavy into cos-play costumes now) and some votive candles:

Free-TT-Ironing-board-votives.jpg

And 10 for the Mitutoyo calipers, and Blackhawk tubing wrenches:

Mititoyo-Blackhawk.jpg

and another $15 for the aluminum hitch mount cargo rack - needs 2 bolts and a hitch pin:

Hitch-rack.jpg
My daughter just got back from Momocon in Atlanta. 3 days from 10am - 3:00am of full tilt cosplay. Gen Z knows how to have fun.

New to me Craigslist find. I've never seen the dual table. I don't need another drill press. I wanted the tables, base, and post. I'll strip down the rest and keep some useful parts. The motor is absolutely toast.

Wow, that's a great find. Too bad about the top end.

I do have one of the Craftsman Professional wrenches in size 1/2 that I found at the pawn shop and I really like it. I’ve used it on my dad’s truck a few times. Might look for some common sizes in Craftsman Professional as it would complement my Craftsman collection well.

I should start acquiring Craftsman Professional tools, I don't have any, but have only heard good things about them.

WTH is "cosplay"?

Asking for a friend.
COStume rePLAY (I think a generic term) Dress up as characters in anything games, movies, Comics, super heroes, name it and many times the actors, both voice and spacial, come and have panels to talk about doing it. If you have seen peoples on stages at a theater dressed up as the characters during a Rocky Horror Picture Show as the characters, its similar but on steroids.

ex. Faname, Aname Expo, Momocon, Comic Con.

These conventions are a mini industry themselves and people get invested.

We had a bunch when I was in school and they worked great. Very precise fit. I believe most of the professional series wrenches were made by SK. Could have been other manufacturers at some point but they look and feel a lot like SK. I also was looking at some tools I had in a box I forgot about and found a few Craftsman Professional screwdrivers that I have in my collection as well.

Back at it again today…. Been following a FBM listing for a Proto chest for a few weeks. Alright, I’m an idiot for not moving sooner, but the force was strong on this one. Price kept tumbling and how it managed to not sell is beyond me. I sent an offer this am while eating B-Fest and the seller accepted $40. Got a killer set of Greenfield Tap& Die as well. Still with the oil paper!! The bottom drawer, once removed held a 9-72 Bolens tractor manual. I figured the chest was late 60’s early 70’s. This is how I brought it all home, untouched….😲
