Needed a small dimple die for a trans cooler support that I'm making for the '73 Mustang build. The smallest one I had on hand was a 1/2", but that was too big. Whipped up this 5/16" one last night and did one quick test press on some scrap material before heading in for the night. That'll do! :)

Replaced the high pressure hose on my 1999 Ford Ranger, the metal line blew right out of the fitting on the pump when I made a hard turn into a parking spot. It seems that it happens on this era Fords, may be a design feature to protect the pump, Several people said that you can just push the tube back into the fitting but my line just slide right back out, apparently I lost the "O" ring and whatever mechanically holds the tube in. It sure was fun laying on the ground with PS fluid (Mercon ATF) dripping on me while replacing the hose with temps and humidity both in the 90's. The trusty Ranger continues it's quest towards 300K miles.
Ricky salutes you!

A house around the corner, that we drive by regularly, has a 3-bay with two of them being 2-deep. So, 5 car capacity.

Doesn't look like a "working" garage - just big. It is a 4400 sq ft house so I guess they need parking for a lot of people.

And, it appears to have a "granny flat" or some other living space as a second floor on the garage.

I do sometimes just gaze as we drive by.
My brother is an architect, and he used to be one of the approved designers for a community that required everything to be parked in a garage. So, most of the houses had a large building of some sort that matched everything else in the community, was approved by the HOA, that they could park RV's, boats, and anything else they wanted to have on hand.

Let's hope you don't die. Nice work.
I've done some organizing too. This is a small portion.

Zim, this is pushing my buttons! I particularly like the 'plier rack'

Is this stuff a combination of multiple companies products or a single 'system' ?

Links would be great.

I moved recently from an ideal 'shop' space where my random hardware was readily available and organized, to a wall in a two car garage.

Moment of silence, please......

Thank you.

Any way, your post is giving me renewed hope. I may yet regain control.

What did I do in my garage ‘’yesterday”? I swore aaaaaaaaaalot.

Tires and lug nuts came in from Amazon, or as Kay would put it, “Jeffreys Happy Jungle“ lol

All the work on the girls Dart went pretty much as planned, the stainless caps on the stock lug nuts caused virtually every single one of them to get stuck in the socket, half of them I had to use a rubber mallet to hammer the socket on in the first place.

Luckily I planned for them getting stuck, I have one of those locking extensions that allowed me to pull while kind of using the extension in a prying motion. Thanks to the new solid chrome lug nuts this won’t be a problem ever again.

Fixed a little rattle that was driving the girl crazy, it was the cheap Dodge heat shield hitting the exhaust. That stuff‘s about as stiff as generic tin foil folded a few times.

Got the oil drained and the filter removed without spilling a drop, that never happens. So overall the car chores were all going well, again, this never happens. lol

Oh but the oil gods weren’t done with me. Like they say, the lord giveth and the lord taketh away.:boxer:

So when I went to get the new oil out of the cabinet I saw a puddle…..Ya, 5 quarts of oil drained down from the top of 5 shelves. Evvvvverything in that cabinet was now sitting in a puddle of oil, and the oil also drained out of the bottom of the cabinet all over the floor.🤦‍♂️

Coincidentally I would normally have my oil drain pan under that cabinet, unfortunately I didn’t put it away the last time I used it. That’ll teach me.(probably won’t) :sneaky:

Spent the rest of the day emptying the cabinet, cleaning oil off everything that was in the cabinet, cleaning the cabinet, moving the cabinet so I could clean the floor (luckily I’d put it on wheels, that things heavy)

Took me maybe an hour and a half to do the work on the car, took a good 5 hours to clean up the mess. This time of year, late in the afternoon, the sun beams straight into the garage, so I was hot as hell and covered in oil, yay.:Freak:

The good news, the extension worked as planned, the new lugnuts were the right size, I had another jug of oil on hand, the girl is happy, and I never even had to turn on the compressor, I had previously gotten an electric impact(worked surprisingly well) essentially for free, it was on sale and I had Advance Auto Parts perks. As for the cleanup, I got a bunch of free zep cleaner a while ago, works great for cleaning up oil.

Garage organization. Hung up the zip ties holder I was painting on last week while waiting for my A/C parts to ship.

IMG_9624.jpeg

Big and little, in black and white. Organized, easy to grab what in need, and out of the way off of my bench.

Finished the basement bench stool seat I was sewing on a couple months ago.

When I was getting the tractor out for my wife finish 'shredding' the pasture she happened to notice a lug nut on a rear wheel looked loose. Turned out three were loose and this tire/rim has not been touched for an unknown number of years. Had to be over 20+ years.

I use an air hammer. Hold the socket in one hand, stick the bit through the back of the socket. A quick hit from the trigger, and you can fire the offending lugnut directly in to the trash can.

Ugh. Bottle failed? Loose cap?

Cleaned 'fridge condensor coils in the kitchen. Cottonwood season has really kicked off, so a lot more of that to do.

Mowed a lawn. Then put on the ditch boots and mowed a creek.

F'in' Phalaris.

Got out the blower and blew my mess off of tables, pads and rocks.

Finished with a half-hour 'til opening.

We'll see what adventures the afternoon brings.

Not me, but my wife and son were able to assemble the new nesting box that I purchased earlier this week.

The box had a big hole in it and some of the stamped metal was bent, so I helped them straighten some of that out. And I caught that they were trying to install a panel upside down on their first step... But once I left the shop, they never called me back out to help.

Had a gallon jug of GrezOff fail. it ruined a repaint job on a Coleman stove, and stained the screen room carpet... Poured the remainder in a spray bottle...

That is nice. You maybe could drill a hole in the end of each tube and be able to shake them out one at a time like a toothpick holder.

I cant remember what the chemical was, maybe acetone I think. Anyway, what ever chemical it was, the fumes were heavier than air.

When It leaked all the rubber casters in my whole shop disintegrated overnight. :scared:

Now mind you it only spilled in one area, but the fumes spread out over the whole shop. One set of casters were at least 20ft away from the spill.

It made me realize why some areas required out buildings to have vents on the walls near the floor.

Damned good thing you had no ignition sources near the floor!

Wife and I swaaped vehicles in the garage, I moved her truck out and she moved her car in. Then I put the front up on jackstands. She is gonna change the sparkplug wires tommorow. The fun of the LT1 and the front mounted distributor(optispark)!

Yup. That job ***** on a Corvette. Never tried it on an Impala. Which one is hers?

@DGersic - Doing some Novell work? Man, I still miss Netware and GroupWise. So friggin' reliable. I used to develop apps using Novell Btrieve as the DB system. Got introduced to Btrieve in my first IT job doing retail apps in C. Good times.

@kidsmoke - You may want to look at the Ernst racks as well. Similar to Lisle but just a tad different. I used to use the PlyWorx pliers racks before switching to Ernst. PlyWorx is the wire racking. Honestly, they sucked - so glad I replaced them with Ernst as everything stays upright. Lisle or Ernst are head & shoulders better than the wire rack style. Ernst also has a few variations of the HF trays that @zimman pictured. I've used several of them in my workbench and toolbox drawers. All that stuff is readily available on Amazon or many others.

I've started to try these out a bit in some drawers. Not much history yet but thinking they may work well. Price was right and arrangement is really flexible.

Your "cheesy" solution is probably better than the majority of us here.... (y)
I just cut a slit in the bag they come in--at the head end so I can pull one out at a time. Try pulling them by the tail and they all come out at once.
Well, we know what @Beerhippie's priorities are.
Stained carpet? Meh! 🤐
Coleman stove paint! Aaaarrggghhh!!! :willy_nil
Hey--a man's gotta have priorities. Ever paint a Coleman stove? It's work.

Besides, who puts carpeting in a garage? That's as bad as carpeting in a bathroom.

"Screen room", not a garage. But, that begs the question: "Who stores oil in a screen room?" :ROFLMAO:

Not exactly "in" the garage, as it was ******* with grandson 3d printing. So, I went to the farm to start up my FLD120 that hasn't moved in 2 years. Batteries were on a maintainer all winter with cable to light load circuits disconnected. Very surprised to find not enough juice to crank. Found the power cored had failed (!) so put big charger on an went home for lunch. Went over belts, fluids, tires and lights then it cranked maybe 5 or 6 seconds before hearing its startup loping cold idle. Drove around off the farm for a while then came back thinking I would go down the trail to where I have a few trailers parked just to mark the track for buddy who has one 48' there. We have had light rain with a couple of brief downpours for most of last 2 weeks and when I hit a low point the steers sunk to the axle leaving 8 wheels spinning helplessly on the wet grass. Walked a quarter mile back to the yard and brought the D5 and some 1/2" chain back making the trail MUCH more defined. Have to admit I appreciate ANY excuse to do something useful with the Cat. All that effort wasted when license office told me they can not renew plate unless I have new safety in hand, so can't get that done before I have to load my 12' press brake and bring it back to storage yard with borrowed beaver tail.
