I've been eyeing up stubby wrench sets for some time, and finally bought a set. Was out and about shopping with the wife (driving the wife around so SHE could shop) this weekend, and I spied a Northern and stopped in. The sets weren't on sale in the store, but they price matched everything that was onsale on their website. For about $40 I got 12 SAE and 11 metric stubby wrenches. Also picked up some Ernst holders for them and an SK set I bought here

Finally finished out my GearWrench socket collection by buying the SAE and Metric 1/2dr master sets thru a friend. Already have the 1/4" dr and 3/8" dr sets. Now I need a bigger box!! lol

My newest arrival is a Utica TS30 torque-limiting screwdriver. Periodically have to tighten sets of small, fine thread screws to 18 in lbs, this makes it 100% consistent.

I have a Utica torque wrench, it was given to me years ago. I presume it's a quality tool brand? I had never heard of the brand until I got mine...

Ordered them out of boredom and didn't really pay attention. Surprised to see "Made in Chech Republic" stamp. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1330125403.307912.jpg

Yup, they are made tin the czech republic. They are pretty nice chisel screw drivers. Mine has seen some heavy uses and are still going strong. Like them so much I pick up a regular stainless steel set with their diamond cut for regular uses.

I just joined and after finding this forum and going through all of the post I ordered two SK ratchet sets from Tooltopia. (by the way fast service, ordered on a Monday and it was in Michigan by Thursday) I ordered the SK 44 Piece 1/4" Drive 6 Point SAE/Metric Standard and Deep Complete Socket Set. I also ordered The SK 48 pc. 6-Point Fractional/Metric Socket Set with Universal Joint. Just doing my part to tell Ideal thanks for keeping SK here. Sorry about the poor cell phone camera picture.

Nice... gotta love anything SK

I got a few things from the Cornwell Man, and ordered something.

IMAG1269.jpg

IMAG1268.jpg

Beef Jerky
Ringer Gloves
5" 1/2-to-3/8 Extension
Frost Pocket Knife
S&G Tool Aid Valve Stem Tool ($2.66)
Lisle Pick Set

The Lisle set was sadly made in China. Kinda bummed about that...

I also have this ordered. I have a problem when it comes to ratchet drivers... He didn't have one on the truck because everyone uses electric drivers these days.

you guys will like the Northern stubbies. They are very nice for the money. IMHO, since you can't really put enough torque on a stubby to spread it, the northerns are more then perfect. Nice fit, finish, & strength all at an amazing price.

What do you think of the K-D full polish wrenches? I haven't heard much about them and saw a set at a pawn shop but didn't get them in my hands. Who makes them? etc.

Those short SK DBEs are sweet! I like all those Superbars, and the KD wrenches as well.

The KD wrenches were made in the USA by Danahar. They replaced the old KD line with the new Gearwrench line.

Those KD full polished wrenches are true sleepers. They have excellent chrome, feature off corner engagement, and have great balance and feel.
Most of the ones on ebay came from government sources. There are three common sets, a 10-18mm, a 5/16 to 1 inch, and a 7-32mm set.
They're US made probably in Armstrong factories owned by Danaher Before the evil dark days of the Apex tool group. There are also two versions. The early ones looked like they took a KD satin wrench and tried to chrome it. They're not as nice. The newer versions have better beam shape, better chrome, and are smoother overall. They are not as long as the old Craftsman Pro series.
Sadly, KD killed off it hand tool line to provide for Gearwrench's expansion.
There's no warranty for the wrenches but, I doubt you would ever break one through normal use. cripedistributing.com has lots of singles available. If you're curious about them, pick one up to try out. They're as good as anything off of a tool truck at a fraction of the price.

I was disappointed about the lack of common extra sizes on their website...mainly the 3/8", but they did in fact stock them in their store. I filled out the SAE set with 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", and 7/8". Bought an 8mm to fill out the metric set for now...

I needed a multi-function tool to trim some installed hardwood flooring after widening a door. Since this will be a very low use tool for me, I decided to pick up one of these ToolShop kits that was on sale at Meneards for $14.99. It worked perfectly for the little project and was well worth the minimal investment.

I have always had my tools in different tool boxes and drawers which made it awkward at times to find th right tool when I needed it.

Recently my wife and I were out shopping and we called into an auto store to get some car wash and outside on display was a 42" tool cabinet reduced from $1200 to $600.

She said "do you want one of those" and promply brought it for me.

The last week we were in the same store and I spotted these folding wire strippers and scissors and after I showed some intertest in them she went back the next day while I was at work and brought them for me.

With everything being Metric here now it is getting harder to find an Imperial tape measure so I was quite happy to find this alloy case dual measurement one.

Didnt need the gearwrench 3/8 stubby, but just confirmed that the ratchet gear fits the matco 3/8, so it will be a backup when the matco breaks. Both are 60 teeth. Also got a snap on 1/2 breaker bar adaptor.

Picked up a bunch of NTM stuff. Mostly all older SK, Blackhawk, Proto, and Plomb. Got a good New Britain 3/8 ratchet in there too. Also got a Snap-On S6118A brake spring flip socket, but I didn't think it deserved a pic.

Angle gauge so I can accurately set my table saw. Makes it a snap. Just zero it to the table, then put it on the blade (bottom is magnetic), and crank to desired angle. It's accurate to within 0.1 degrees, which is good enough for woodworking.

Also had to pick up some pulleys and a belt from Ace on the way home today for the saw.

I wouldn't call it a new tool arrival but more of a reconditioning an old tool... does it still count? lol

I have this Mac 1/4" ratchet (not my picture, had to borrow it because i didn't take a picture beforehand)

images

The handle on it was getting pretty worn and tatty, started to look like this..

IMG00194-20120228-1626-1.jpg

Found an old Mac screw driver i forgot i had and don't really use anymore, long story short, thought id lost it, got new one, found that one a week later. Anyway so i though't id pull the handle off it and switch it onto my ratchet, seeing as i don't use it any more.

A little drilling to size and some gentle persuasion and it ended up looking like this.... very pleased with it and it looks pretty much new again.

The Hot Deals Bosch Combo loot from Amazon.
( Thanks Stuey )

The second Drill Driver ( far right ) is an Asian Domestic market issue ... a bit bigger than the US model.

Damn, are those wobbles plus? Glad I didn't catch up with him today. What did the set run? I got the 3/8 and 1/2 in the $99 deals last year. Just the regular set.

Guess I know what i'm doing tomorrow afternoon

Went to HF and picked up a 4-piece 3/8" impact extension set.

Next door is a new Essex Bargain Hunt. Last time there I got in IR 4152 for $68.

Today I swung in there to see what, if anything, they had.

I got these with an additional 10% off.
