Here's mine. 40 x 40 with a 16 x 24 room on the back. The room on the back is accessed from the inside by 10 x 8 swinging doors.

Can't tell what is under the cover. Super 7 is my initial (most statistically likely) guess. What is the correct answer?

Great garage BTW

Hey dougmac:

Man my Rv and boat would feel they lived in a castle here.

Sweet build there, what is inside?:)

The big bay has my travel trailer in it. This is the smaller bay.... :)

A different style

I had a very pleasant time going through this thread. There are so many wonderful garages, and I am envious of the space available to some of you!

The most interesting to me are the garages that have a distinct architectural style or represent very strongly a place or an era. Some are particularly charming, even those that need some repair.

I wanted to post a photo of my garage, because it has a different style, quite austere and plain, in contrast to the lovely traditional builds here. It is modern, in the sense of the 1920s international style. Unfortunately, I have no photo of the exterior, so this will have to do.

abstamaria, what is the story with the sod on the structure on the right side of the pic? Some very outstanding garages in this thread.

That’a a “green” roof, 56RPM. The concrete slab roof has a waterproof membrane, a water collector and drainange system, and a light-weight soil substitute. The green roof cuts indoor temperatures by about three degrees C, which is useful as the garage is in the tropics. It is also quite pretty, I think. That photo was taken more than a year ago; here is a more recent one:

If you’re interested in the installation, there is a short description in this thread:

ManxRacer - Far from a "plain" garage. I remember your build and it turned out great. How have those mini-splits been working out for you in this intense heat we have had the last several weeks?

****!
Compared to a lot of guys on here. It's only 16x20. Not actually a garage, it has a plywood floor. I choose to call it an oversized shed.

The mini-split has worked like a charm. I've really been impressed. We had a family party at the house the Sunday before the 4th. The temperature was over 100 so the wife asked me to move the cars out so that she could hold the party in the garage. The temperature held at 78 without problem with 26 people having a good time; the airhandler blower remained at low speed.

The unit is a Mitsubishi "Mr. Slim." It is one impressive little unit. My only regret is that I didn't get a two unit system to put an airhandler in the loft. It gets quite a bit warmer up there.

Wow, I'm a little embarrassed to show you my very small garage 16x24. But I am about to build 30x36 with 2 doors with a small office for my company. You really have very nice garage, guys.
