can't wait to get home and see if my box has arrived.

OOS on the 36" prybar??? I didn't get a call but I'm not home so.

Hey Jori, if my order hasn't shipped, let someone else get my prybar to ship theirs out earlier. I'm in no hurry and I forgot a couple things on my order anyways (if I can add them :)...

Several sizes of the prybar came back in today. I was there to pick up my order, and in all their hustle to get everyones order out and filled, they mistakenly shipped mine.
I picked up a few things and looked around for a couple hours, found a few more I need to go back for (awaiting something I have coming from elsewhere), and placed an order. Went off to dinner, to work and to drop off some stuff at my fathers, and fell asleep on the couch, to wake up later and come home tonight, to find it on the porch.
When I was paying today, I tried to pay them for shipping and they would have none of it. Had a good visit, and am looking at probably around $800 worth of stuff I have on my get list (not including some of the vises I always drool over). I doubt I will do it all at once though as it gives me an excuse to keep going back.

Hey, how is the CDI torque wrench? I have one coming in my order, too.

Which brass hammer is that? I had a couple on my list, but had to move them to the "next time" list.

Bull,

The cdi is very nice, I would say its around mid 80's NOS. It isn't as nice as the new $200 dollar snap ons but for $50 bucks I don't think you can beat it! :bounce:

Thats a 1 lb Grace brass hammer that I ordered, its awesome! Grace Hammer

This is my first order that was placed in the spirit of Epsteins day but placed early due to the fact that I didn't think I'd be around a computer on the 4th to place an order. I did make another order on July 4 and I'd expect that will be arriving in a week or 2. Anyways, for this order I picked up some mini channel lock stuff (4 1/2" ignition pliers, 4 1/4 diag cutters, 4 3/4 end cutters, 4 3/4" needle nose, 5" diag cutters, 4 1/2 needle nose)' 4" crescent and 6" ridgid adjustables and Eastwing Engineers hammer. This was my first order ever from Epsteins and definitely will be doing a lot more shopping there in the future!

Hey canuckian, did you have your order shipped to you in Canada, or did you pick it up in the U.S.?

Wondering if you had to pay any customs/duties/brokerage fees?

If you don't mind, what did you pay for shipping in the end? I'm sure the hammer jacked the cost up!

Had it shipped to Canada. Had to pay the standard 15% duty and shipping was a medium flat rate box, whatever that costs.

Wow that's great, no extra brokerage etc. on an order like that - GREAT order, might get one of those hammers!

as far as I know, the only way you get charged brokerage with USPS is if you pay duties and even at that I think it's just a flat $5 fee. now, if youre chrged duty with UPS, that's a whole other story. I think their minimum brokerage fee is $3x.** and it goes based on size, weight, value, etc. and it goes up from there. My wife ordered a $50 item from the US a few months back and the sender used UPS. the customs/brokerage was upwards of the value of the item!! a quick phone call to the sender fixed it but holy ****! the other courier companies aren't as bad as far as I know but USPS is still the cheapest in most cases and most predictable IMHO.

Got mine the other day (ordered on the 3rd on account of not planning on being near a computer on the 4th). Stocked up on US-made C-clamps since the price seemed right (not too many garage sales to stock up at in my neck of the woods). Got a bushel of file handles, can't beat $1.40/each for the convenience of having every file equipped with a handle. Stocked up on extra sizes of Vaughan ball peins (though the 32oz came as a Gravik, which I seem to recall means it is still made by Vaughan). Also got a Norseman 29 piece fractional set and a set of Moody probes.

Thanks to Jori for the pliers, shirt and box art! (The art is a bow to my alma mater...)

I bought a bunch of the 8" c clamps a couple months back and they're very nice, plus cheaper than the chi-com variety at the ol' big box.

Hey, how is the CDI torque wrench? I have one coming in my order, too.

I know the question wasn't directed at me, but I have that torque wrench. I've been really happy with it, especially considering the price.

I can give you a tip on using it. The torque setting mechanism is different than all the other torque wrenches I've used. You have to pull the handle down to set the torque. Make sure it's pulled down all the way, or you won't get an accurate setting.

When you're done setting the torque, you push the handle back up, it locks in place and the wrench is ready to use.

Not cool. It'll hopefully work out without too much of a hassle. But, what did get delivered.

Ohhhh yeah! :rocker:

As to box art, I asked for something patriotic:

The contents of the box:

I saw the pickmattock head in the closeouts section and thought "hey, I might need that someday..." Of course it doesn't do much good without a handle. Epstein's has that too. Then I found some N.O.S. tiny Channellock pliers/cutters. MINE! And I rounded out the order with a SK brake tool... just in case my next car (or any other I happen to work on) uses the type of caliper that you rotate the piston back in on.

And of course the freebie slip joints (YAY!) and Wright t-shirt (WOOHOO!) :D

Got a few ideas for the next order... Wilde cotter pin tool, Wilde brake adjuster tools, the Consolidated Devices torque wrench, some more USA vise grips, and the list keeps going...

Milton dual head tire inflator

Let me know what you think of that inflator. I've been eyeballing those for a while, might have to get me one. (or maybe the one with the slightly different head - the head on the end is straight, vs both on yours being angled relative to the hose)

The box looked like it was re taped a time or two. This is the stuff that made it....

1 x Diagonal Pliers 4 1/4" [#41GS-NOS] @ $16.50 = $16.50

1 x 6" Long Nose Plier w/ Cutter [#326-NOS] @ $15.70 = $15.70

1 x 7" Diagonal Cutting Box Joint [#437-NOS] @ $15.70 = $15.70

1 x 9 3/4" Crimping & Cutting [#909] @ $16.40 = $16.40

1 x Cold Chisel Set [#CC5] @ $11.50 = $11.50

2 x Metal Dust Pan [#901P] @ $4.45 = $8.90

1 x 3/8" x 1/4" shank arbor [#7727SA-2] @ $3.25 = $3.25

2 x Lighter Renewal Tips (5) [#2001X] @ $0.70 = $1.40

1 x Welding Torch Tip Cleaner [#WTTC] @ $1.90 = $1.90

This is the stuff that was missing from the box, all the long straight stuff that can slide out the hole in the corner.

1 x 3/8" Dr SK Ratchet [#45170] @ $35.80 = $35.80

1 x Wilton Hargrave 4 pc Lineup Punch Set [#4PLPS] @ $24.00 = $24.00

1 x Straight & Comb Snip Wiss [#M-3R] @ $14.90 = $14.90

I called U.P.S. and called Epstein to give them a heads up and they said they would take care of it....it'll all work out. It doesn't happen often but it's not the first time my packages have been trashed.
edit: I forgot, I also got a free Williams Tool T shirt. One that actually fits!

I only orderd a ratchating box end wrench, manly because I was in a hurry and wanted to order something and that was all I really needed. Along with the wrench I got the free pliers. They surely did'nt make any money on me. Makes me feel guilty. I better be buying some more.

Very nice introduction to a very fine store.

P7130002.jpg

Like most of you, I’m compiling my next “Want List” after seeing all the cool stuff you'all ordered. I’m going to have to add another 36” Wilde pry bar, since as soon as my son sees this monster, He’ll be wanting one!

Sorry about the bad lighting! We're allowed to hotlink pictures, right???

Wilde 36" Pry Bar
6 pc Metric Offset Ratchet Wrench Set
Spark Plug Gauge
6 1/2" Thin Nose Slip Joint Pliers
Hook and Pick Set
24" magnetic pickup
USA 5 pc Phillips Screwdriver Set
Tire Gauge Passenger 5-50 lbs
Wilde Snap Ring Plier w/ Interchangeable tips

I forgot to mention GJ so no t-shirt, and I actually paid for those pliers, which are cool regardless. The gem here is those offset box wrenches. I had a c-man set long ago that was stolen and I never replaced them. It's short a 9mm/10mm so I have to buy a Wright to fill it in (what a shame).
And those ugmo screwdrivers feel fantastic.
