Didn't get any pics but worked on metalbumping/removing dings and dents from some vintage western flyer fenders and "tanks". Should be able to have them painted without filler now...

Topping the bench with 3/4 oak . I have some old 40 era bolt bins that are going under .
Vise ,small Englsh wheel and some other stuff .
Put cable in there so I can listen to a ball game or race .

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

In and out early this morning, loaded some tools and parts and went down to replace the water pump in my tractor.

Came home at lunch and cooled off, went over this afternoon and smeared some more bubble gum (MIG welder style) on the rear strut tower of my GF's '98 ****** station wagon. Burnt a couple holes in my knees and a few more tender places. Couldn't reach in from outside, and couldn't really fold myself up comfortably inside.

Didn't quite finish, as a deliveryman came walking in asking for help with a flat. I took the tire off and drove into town in time to catch the auto repair still open, he sometimes quits early on Friday. The town has spread a lot of oversize (2 1/2 inch minus) and SHARP crushed stone on the roads, starting last fall after the flood. My friend at the shop says he is repairing/replacing a dozen tires a week, all damaged by this stuff. Town claims it's NOT THEIR FAULT!!!

Hung a couple of florescent lights, came up with a plan for the ceiling, and started taking down the stupid shelves the previous owner surrounded the garage with. Also did a little layout for where I am going to put stuff.

This was two weeks ago but showed up at dads because he was calling and going on about how he got a guy to s**t his pants. The guy was there to rob him, dad showed up while the guy was coming out with some hand tools. dad pulls his fullauto and spays the trees above him. the guy drops and s**ts. hilarious! called cops, they came, guy arrested. but the cops looked at his gun, and said he would of done the same. thats what dad did two weeks ago.

Go Dad! MHO, if it were me, I would have shot into the ground, too many houses around me within a mile. Maybe shooting above their head would cause someone to dive, vs shooting at the ground may cause them to run. :headscrat

Replaced the throttle cable on the lawn mower.
Replaced a plug on a shop fan.
Added a handle to a different shop fan.
Tried to clean up the work bench to actually have some room to work.

Reshape the wheel opening and flare them a bit.
Easiest way of course is to use flares off another car.
The wife objected to me cutting up her Mitsy so XJ Jag will do.
Way better steel anyway.
The flare is dropped 1 1/2" from original to go with the more lowered look.

I was looking at a blasting cabinet last week that needed new seals, nozzle, airlines and glass etc. I ended up replacing air jet and nozzle on the one thats sitting in the other half of my shop, $50 ish total. And a blasting I went. The stand I just wire wheeled, primed and painted.

Finished my pegboard, new workbench and decided to make this rolling cart to fit some of my tools. Not bad for a guy who hate working with wood.

Worked on vacuuming out the water from the cylinders and intake manifold of my wife's KL-ZE. She found a small river going across an intersection during our tornado warning Friday night.

Every once in a while I get to work on my own bike in my own garage! It is rare, but it does happen.

6K tune-up took me just under an hour. It included adjusting the valves, changing the oil and filter, and doing a throttle body sync.

I just had to redo the negative battery connection on my truck. I had to reseat the cable in the connector. What a PIA, everything seemed like a solid connection but obviously it wasn't. The truck seems to starting fine now.

The daugther stepped on the wife's glasses and broke the hinge off the earpeice. Nothing a #12 sheetmetal screw, a bench grinder, drill press, and propane torch can't fix.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Sometime back, someone here posted a photo of an old mag wheel used as a reel for their hoses/extension cords.

A long time ago I bought 3 U.S. Daisy type mags from Craigslist. One of the deep ones is badly damaged though it would be useable for this purpose (but I won't:lol:). Seller would only sell all three together but I think I only paid $40for all.
Here's a BEFORE of the best of them. Dull and the center is corroded. Generally neglected looking:

Here's a couple AFTER photos. The damage is at about 4 o'clock:

The lip was sanded with 1500 wet paper then I used metal polish. I'd painted the center with silver paint but didn't like it so I repainted with gray primer. Not sure I actually "like" it but I wanted a contrast with the center cap.

Speaking of which it was plastic chrome and turning green! The old "U.S." logo was faded metal tape so I pulled it off, gave the whole thing a quick sanding and used the same gray primer, then Rustoleum metallic silver on it. I'm surprised it came out pretty good. Tomorrow this one will get installed and my air hoses stored on it.

Yesterday I took apart & fixed up 2 Razor scooters for my kids. We found them in the trash one night on one of our walks & brought them home. They were functional but had some rust on them. I took them apart, used a wireless wheel on the rust & then polished them up. They turned out great. I just want to buy new wheels &handle bars for them. It's amazing what some people throw out.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Continuing my (crappy) mag restoration project from yesterday, I did an admittedly quickie job today on the 2nd daisy mag that I'll use for air hose.

1st I painted it a lighter primer gray thinking I'd like it better - I didn't.
DaisyMag2-After2.jpg

So, I did a quick reshoot in the darker gray I used yesterday.
DaisyMag2-After3.jpg

I don't have a 2nd plastic center cap, and necessity is a mutha', right? I had some leftover roofer's aluminum stock. I traced a circle on it, used tin snips, then my bench grinder to get it round +/-. Above its unpainted. Here it is after I primed and sprayed it with the same metallic paint I used on the plastic cap. Its not as nice I agree but I'm telling myself its like the flat caps that road race cars used to use.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

With up to 6 women:Help: in the house(my daughter every other weekend and other odd times) and 3 of them teenagers:willy_nil, this is an appropriate name for our place. I can't wait to start putting in the second bathroom. Now I've got to figure out how to put it at the end of the driveway. The flags are colored for each of the girls favorite color.
