I bought two sets of jack stands from my snappy guy...and one set in the box one out one 3ton and one 6 ton...well I looked at the box and I can swear it was a made in China box...but the center post says USA..Snap on site says made in usa..but the box I know is some made in china pos...are the stand bases made in China then the center post made in USA, and shipped to China to be put in the box, shipped back to the US to be sold as USA branded product? A little help on this one...I am pissed at this point...I spend hours, and good money to make sure everything I own ( less minor bs) is all made in USA by English speaking americans...for the most part.

I'd say there Hein Werner based, which has plants here and abroad. If the part is marked USA, I'd say your fairly safe. After the Stanley debacle, most manufacturers are Leary of the legalities that come from misrepresenting COO.

Where does it say made in China to make you doubt it's made in the USA?

All the packing looks like a china packing job...it is just strange...it almost looks like the bases are made in china...they do not say made in USA or China..screwy

It's simple, the base is made in china and notched stand is cast in the US. It says right on the China box "3 ton jack stand's base". Basically, Snap-On buys import stands and "assembles" them in the US.

If I were you I would send it back and buy the premium Hein Werner stands. I KNOW those are punched, bent welded and assembled of US steel in the US.

They have a Lead Paint warning sticker on them...and the box is China for sure...crappy carboard and shiny..that much for sure.

Remove the Snap On sticker and see if there is a "China" stamp underneath. You probably got a half Chinese half USA jack stand. The website say 3 tons per pair which mean each jack stand is rated only for 1.5 ton. Don't lick the paint and wash your hand.

The poor English on the box screams a product from a foreign country. Reminds me of the Bianchi bicycle debacle... Made in Taiwan frame, assembled in Italy, receives an Italian flag/colored sticker as if it was a manufactured and produced product in the COO it is trying to represent. Feel behind the sticker for a raised surface, potentially for a hidden COO stamp.

I would like to think that the fine folks in Wisconsin have better grammatical control on their package labeling;

"DESCRIPTION: 3 TON JACK STAND'S BASE"

Reads like a typical poorly translated label - but hey, they're only $138.:)

I could not find a jack stand base that was made in china that had the small holes at the bottom. But i did come across this info I thought I might share is this a little messed up? It appears that Hein Warner plays the game of saying made in USA, sticker and all. Look at the company that own them. Here are the links.

THE BASE IS IMPORTED. I don't understand why this is confusing so many people.
???:lol_hitti

because they refuse to believe snap-on would try and pull something. hell, they ***** out their name to be put on cheap flashlights, utility knives multi-tools and other misc. ******** being sold in all sorts of big box stores and other retailers. a little bait and switch is not out of the question. websites are also notoriously wrong or at least not up to date. not picking on snap-on per say, just pointing out the obvious.

just got of the phone with Liz in cust service she said she did not know but would call the vendor, came back and said yes the base is made overseas.to me that is fraud.the web pic posted doesnt even say assembled from global components, get this while on hold the message says we are a company dedicated to honesty,etc.etc....well that tells me exactly how honest they are

i would like to know the specifics of the stanley case.i cant afford to sue snap on but i bet stanley can.if they got caught and fined maybe they would be interested in helping to ''police'''their competitors.i love my snapon tools,i hate the people making these decisions at the corporate level.

that is funny. i would guess those that spent 138 bucks plus tax for those are disapponted.:lol_hitti

moral of the story. buyer beware with snap-on or any other brand of tools and equipment. coo can change at anytime on anything but i am guessing you could get the same stands for 1/4 of the price without the nice snap-on "sticker".:pimpflash

Snap-On can't put a USA stamp on their ratchets until the pawls and other internal components are made in USA. Snap-On sources the pawls for their dual-80 rats from Bahco in Spain.

maybe this can help the ''why is it a big deal if usa is on the ratchets guys'' understand why it IS A BIG DEAL, also when they chime in and say it is still made in the us even though it is not marked, they never say oh but not the internals, thanks dsltrck for the info on pawls,i will double check it with snap on

There are many things that are made in the US that don't state it or have a special sticker casue they are sold aboard. Both Case tractors and Bobcat Excavators are like this. Made in the USA(seen it with my own two eyes as I worked for both) yet they removed made in the USA stickers. Saves money and lots of countries don't care that it is USA made, or don't want to know.

I get a happy feeling when I hear of someone challenging a company to remain open and honest about their products....good catch OP.
