Work closed 2 hours early for the ice storm. Grabbed a beer, went to the garage, sat on my stool for 5 minutes, decided it was too cold to bother opening the garage doors, went back upstairs.

I need to fab a mount for a Nema 0 contactor/box on this 3 phase Cincinnati grinder/buffer. The box will need to be above the grinder facing the operator. I didn't get very far today, blasted the grinder guard and primed it.

I have got a few ideas on that box that will work for ya but you probably need to fab it to your specs.

I cleaned my Miller 251 welder inside and out. I blew the dust out of the innards and the spool gun, and gave the blue part of the cabinet a coat of wax. Yes, I admit it, I waxed my welder...

Fire at will :)

I just did the same thing to both my Miller MM251 and my Miller Dynasty a few days ago while waiting for a customer to bring her Jeep, which she never did. I didn't wax mine but I did blow it off inside and out as well as used some final inspection from Meguirs and wiped it down.

Last night my son was home and not hanging out with friends so we decided to drop his differential covers from his Jeep as his break in period for the gears had elapsed. I threw the dial indicator on them, wiped out the carrier and reinstalled the ARB diff. covers and filled with some Royal Purple. He is good to go now.

Installed a new amp and speakers in the coupe. Now doing a new vintage air system for the coupe. Got the old one out and the new one all figured out with new brackets dabbed and trial fit. Quite a few hours under the dash to sort this all out as it wasn't a like for like change.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Started moving some **** out of the end bay into another outbuilding (mostly bits of wood/timber/lumber (call it what you will) tomorrow a run to the dump with all the boxes and sacks of christmas wrapping paper etc that have accumulated in there as it sort of gets used as a bit of a dumping ground. I need to clear most of the **** out as I'm shortly going to commence on getting it wired up for electricity. the bad news is we had the price through today for a full rewire on the house which badly needs doing and as the price was a bit on the "ouch" side the garage re-roof might have to get put off until next year. Depends on how good a year the wife has and how much commision she earns this year.

Theres still a lot I can do in there to improve it for little money so all is not lost.

Beytill nice headache rack, much fancyer than mine.
Racecarl, I waxed my Miller Syncrowave 250 and my century 145, and am proud of it.

Finished up my Charles Parker 106 and got it mounted, pics in the vise thread.
Reglued the mounting screws on some table legs on a kitchen table my daughter and soninlaw just bought. Played with the grandson while the glue set.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I pick up this Colchester Student lathe across town and brought it back the shop.

Colchester Studen Lathe 1 by Bib Overalls, on Flickr

We backed the trailer into the shop and tilted the bed. The lathe slid out on to the floor and with four guys pushing and pulling we had it spotted in a couple of minutes.

Colchester lathes are well built and have a good reputation. This one dates to the early 50s I think. Hoping to find a tag somewhere as I tidy it up. Clausing sold the Colchester line here in the US and also made some clones that they sold under their own name. Mine came via London town.

Colchester Student Lathe 2 by Bib Overalls, on Flickr

Came with the section of "interrupted? bed that is usually lost, a Polish made for jaw chuck, a faceplate, an adapter of some sort, a work steady, and a quick change tool post that needs some sorting out.

Colchester Student Lathe 3 by Bib Overalls, on Flickr

The three jaw chuck looks new. Just some surface rust. Overall, the lathe needs a lot of rubbing but so far, I have not found anything that needs to be fixed. Hope to have it under power shortly.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I've been contemplating buying a HF 44" box and today I did. Used the $359 coupon from the coupon thread. Next to my Snap On boxes I've had a worthless desk for many years that did nothing but hold my mini fridge and the blast cabinet and the slow speed grinder etc... Here's the before...

I removed the desk and relocated the fridge and the blast cabinet elsewhere in the shop so I could have the tool boxes together along with my roll carts. Pretty happy with how this turned out.

Finally found my sharpening stones since the move and spent time cleaning up the blade on my chef's knife.

Also continued building storage for the garage and making it more usable.

Changed oil in the Superduty, cleaned the air filter on her too. Changed the plugs and valve cover gasket on the corolla. Aired up tires on everything since they were a little low. Still need to clean and polish the headlights on that old corolla but ran out of daylight which meant the warm day left with it.

Tomorrow I add the shelves.

I also helped a friend mod his HF tire changer to work on his HF lift like mine.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I installed the "reverse" warning light on the Cushman. Mounted a switch that triggers a light when it's in reverse. The panel was a little ugly, so I covered it in faux wood (contact paper) that I had.

So, the green light means power on....the red means it's in reverse.

Now I have to find a way to fix/replace the cracked plastic cover..

Cleaned out a lot of junk and organized. I can now easily fit the Mustang and Trans Am in there. I still have to clean more to get my Metropolitan convertible shell to fit in there. I need it out of the weather.

A multiple weekend adventure installing a new fan shroud housing on the Twin Turbo and swapping out the belts as a matter of course, since I was there. Amazin how little room there is to work on these cars.

Next up, install some real horns, so people can actually hear ya.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I cut open the garage wall (about 4 inches by 18 feet) and ran 8-2 NM-B and 12-2 wire through the studs horizontally. The 8-2 is for my new compressor and the 12-2 is for 3 new outlets along the wall.

Tomorrow I hope to move the compressor into place and start the install of my first part of my soffit.

I have been extremely busy in the garage lately and with everything out of place it's a disaster!

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Fixed my tractor supply bench grinder mount so it is now level and flush. Pain in the *** but done. Also rigged some wiring on my grinder so the light will work without the grinder being turned on.

Started to look at the broken spring on my ATV trailer. I don't have an acetelene torch so hacking away the bolts could be fun. I'll start a separate thread :-(

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Yesterday pulled 6 gauge and switched the garage breaker to 60 amp. Also put a 220 outlet in the garag.

Today cleaned up and put up 2 more sheets of frp on the ceiling. Ran outs screws so I vac'd up all the fiberglass dust and called it a day.
