I've been refurbishing my grill, and I needed a grate lifter. I had an old piece of steel bar I've been saving from a $2 HF clamp that broke. I ended up sawing it into a three-pronged fork, then hitting it with my propane torch before hammering it into shape. Final touch was a cedar handle I made with scrap wood from replacing the wood prep surfaces on the grill.
I'd still like to buff out the tool marks from the vise. I'm going to hit the handle with some sort of finish too, next chance I get. This is my first time building something like that from scratch; it was a lot of fun seeing the idea I had become a 'real' tool. It's probably nothing special compared to what most of you guys are building, but it impressed my wife, which made m

its a piece of junk, you should take it to the scrap yard.I bought the drill press. 500#. 8 speeds. 3" wide flat belt drive. Installed in the behemoth,pics and begging for ID help tomorrow.

I had a good time making it - it made me want to set up a forge and do it all for real.

I tried to start and keep running two chain saws until my "pull cord...read right arm" gave out. This damn ethanol just destroys the plastic parts, (tubes and tanks) in a two cycle engine. I wish there was an additive to alleviate the problem. Any ideas out there guys?
Use a higher octane...up here they don't have ethanol in the higher octane stuff.
