Today's CraigsList Score : WARNING SNAP-ON **** - STARTING ADDING TOOLS....

Saw this Snappy Classic 96 advertised locally for $3K. Went down and looked at it and found out from the guy that it was brand new. Asked him how much he HAD to get from the box and he said $2500 was his bottom dollar but that if I bought it, he would deliver it to my house. I dunno, not bad for $2500 delivered right? Shoot, I feel like a high-brow, nose thumber, holier than thou Snap On owner now!!!

I even ended up selling my old Canadian-made International box for $600 so technically one could say I got this for $1900...I've never owned anything Snap On aside from an old pitted breaker bar and maybe a spark plug socket. So stoked right now....now I need to fill it full of tools...unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) they're all Craftsman...

Time to trade in the IR compressor for a Quincy so they match right.

Buying "new" tool boxes off Craig's list can be sketchy. You need to make sure their is no liens on the box. Some guys buy a new box and then lose their job then sell the box and stiff the tool truck and or credit company. I would have given snapon a call and gave them the serial number and make sure at least there was no liens on it from them. Sweet box though, really like the color hopefully it was a clean sell for you.

I've had the same 42" Hammerhead box that my wife got me from Costco about 11 years ago and it was overflowing. It's also well made and Made in the USA before I believe they went out of business. I ended up getting 2 lower end International boxes when they were on sale for $330 shipped from Sears. They were flimsy and the locking mechanism was poor. I have to say, I would never pay $5600 retail for this box. But $2500 - $600 for my International boxes I sold suits me just fine. I'll take some pics of the tools I have in there...all Craftsman...but they get the job done and more importantly, they're Made in the USA!

Over past several months, only deal close I've seen here on GJ is triple-bay Mac (yellow) for $2700 that included a cart. Not sure if anyone snagged it from CL but it was in WA or OR.

They don't go after the box if its been re-sold, they go after the original owner. They'd basically have to take the new owner to court to repo the box which is laughable.

Theres one in every bunch.... It's like trying to compare an 87 suzuki samurai to a 2005 jeep wrangler. Both have 4 wheel drive and removeable tops.

Enjoy the box! I'm a fan of the classic series. My first real box was a Classic 78 and it's been awesome. I have that thing packed to the gills and it begs for more.

Started adding my tools....my organization skills ****. Still have a lot of stuff to add but I'm loving the space provided by this box!

two suggestions, with the socket racks, can you flip them so the broached end is up? giving you view of 6pt and 12pt variations.

for the wrenches, you can make very simple wrench organizers out of solid core wire, i used some sort of medium gauge thick nylon coated stuff. works very well, keeps the wrenches upright conserving huge amounts of space, and keeps them from sliding around. one can be pulled at a time, and all the rest stay right in place. i used a tapered alignment tool for lining bolt holes up as my "mold" to coil the wire into a slow taper for the large to small wrenches. i can take a picture of my drawers if interested.

you could literally get all the wrenches pictured into one of those drawers, and be nice and neat about it, or keep the two drawers, and have lots of room to expand the collection...

I have that same 1/2 drive Cman impact set I believe.
I bought them because they were inexpensive and I was just starting out. So far I have yet to replace any ofthem. They are better then whatever it is that come of the Mac truck I know that

If you have watched Flee bay the past year you would know that Snap-on boxes are selling in the $2500 and $3000 are a lot larger and nicer. NJ had had a bunch of them in that State. I don't get it. I think you paid far to much. The truck brands boxes are a dime a dozen and when they sell are going for much less.

As long as you are happy that is what counts. When you figure it will hold 20 thousand dollars worth of tools it is a small price to pay. I have 6 little drawers in my Homak boxes and they have about $3400 worth of Snap-on tools and that is half price. Tools sure add up fast.

That's a really nice box, it looks bigger than a standard 2 bay to me. I know stacks are cheaper, but some of us are short and the extra height does nothing. I prefer to build out than build up for my boxes and really enjoy the extra work/storage space.

WOW Way out of MY price range, but I am not going to hate on you for what you spent. That is a thing of beauty. I am sure you will enjoy MANY years of service out of it.

The Quincy compressor sounds good, but don't forget the Miller welder(s) to match the blue snap on box.

Triple bank KRLs local to a specific area for $2500 aren't as common as you make them sound.

The "nicer" comment is also a little subjective. Biggest difference between the KRA and KRLs are the drawer slides.
