Out riding around and stopped at a yard sale just to kill time, found a wrench I had never seen, not that I have seen a lot. Square nut socket wrench, One inch across the flats of the socket, OE opening is about 13/16 ths. could have spread some, what was it used for?View media item 32758

WELL . . . that's an interesting wrench indeed. For what it's worth - my guess is it's a special wrench for a factory machine. Someone smarter than me please chime in. BUT - that pipe wrench looks like a Bonney Stillson circa 1920's Is there a B in a shield? If so what are the small codes right next to it?

Sorry for rushing, I was trying to use the Worth 10" Pipe Wrench for reference, don't know anything about it either. The hanging strap in the picture is from my camera.

It's a 1660 Penens Corp. I think they got sucked up into Proto at some point, but I will have to Google it later. It was almost frozen with old grease inside so I gave it a thorough cleaning. No noticeable wear in it and its smooth as silk now. I don't usually like round handled ratchets. And I don't know if this makes any sense, but it has a good feel to it. A keeper for sure. It would have been nice to see what else came out of that garage.

Nice stuff from J-VILLE. I used to hit the GS hard on base and got a lot of cool stuff. People moving overseas and couldn't take all their stuff with them. I was happy to relieve them of it.
Don't really go to the ones on base since the ones in my neighborhood I see usually just have baby clothes but you saying this makes me curious maybe I should start stopping at the on base ones from now on

LOTS of baby clothes to be sure but other stuff as well. When I was stationed there we would get up at zero-dark-thirty, hit the Waffle Shop, then hit the road. Paradise Point and the SNCO housing near Lejune High produced the best results.

Pennens was apparently a military subcontractor that also had the tools they sold the military made by other companies, (Including those in the Proto family of co.s...) It is unclear if they actually manufactured any of them but IIR there was some evidence of them having a factory somewhere for something...
Pennens stuff is well worth having though, none I have seen has been junk. I have a few Pennen's pieces myself.

I'm not sure it would even show in a photo; it is nearly gone off the handle and the head has no markings at all. I postedbecause it was ONLY on the handle...
That is odd. I'm just wondering if it's the older fancier script logo (40's and earlier)or the 50's and later one, before they went to just plain NB, and then out of business...

Nice find Jus! Those "locking" pliers are actually compound pliers, and if you do a comparison to "regular" pliers, say by squeezing some wood or even a lead weight, you would be AMAZED at the difference it pressure they can do!
I have a Pair of Protos, and I think another pair, that was a recent acquisition.
Edit: not the locking pliers, (Close up of those please?) the Protos, were what I was talking about (I got crossed on the captions)

Those are caulking chisels. Made to spread caulk etc for plumbers, painters, or mastic, and the like.

Yesterdays pawn shop stop. They have been putting rusty tools in this box for about a year. Offered $10.00 for all of it and they helped me load it. Junk top, unknown 3 door bottom in decent shape, no key. Some snap-on, Plomb, Williams, Crescent, Craftsman, Ace, and some junk. More hammers than I know what to do with and it will take me forever to sort all the sockets.

As inspired by this forum, I recently cleaned out my shed, and got started organizing.
Part of the cleaning out meant getting rid of a big table that was one of my first ever woodworking projects. I couldn't bear to get rid of the top, so we repurposed it to replace the OSB top on a work bench I built a couple of years ago. Doing that meant that I ended up with an empty space.... and we can't have empty spaces now, can we?
Hit the thrift shops and found this.
It's a Mita copier cabinet. $25.
Heavy duty in a sense, the weak points are the plastic wheels. But I won't be overloading it.
It'll get a thorough cleaning soon, as I continue the organization and redux of the shed.
AND because you can't just go in the thrift store and buy one thing, I also found the following for $10.
I figure I can sell the sight and assorted 1960s hunting goodies for enough to pay for the box on eBay.
My dad already stole the turkey call, though.

Off the table (pic1) $20. I got :
- an unmarked 8oz Ball Pein hammer
- a J.H. Williams & Co. 6" "Superjustable" c-wrench
- needle air nozzle
- 16" 1" paddle bit
- 6" Johnson Fine half-round file w/ handle (USA)
- 12" K&F Fine triangle file (USA)

I stop there about every other week in the summer. Don't buy much but they alway treat me good. I was suprised also, I just wanted to look through the sockets and he said make me an offer on all of it.
