Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I got the interior of the ranger cleaned, radio bezel painted and installed. Replaced the broken radio installation kit with a new one. installed a hitch receiver on the bronco and wired in a trailer plug. I found a issue with the tail light socket so I'll be replacing it.

Just waiting for the seats to get cleaned and I'll put them back in the ranger.

Replaced the front carrier assembly in a friends 2006 Ford Explorer. Took way longer than expected but results were great and got to hang out in the shop with no yardwork to be done! Great Day!!

Today I installed factory mud flaps and upfitting my newly installed Adrian steele shelving with liners. What i found works good for the liner is indoor/outdoor carpet. It looks great, absorbs any moisture during wet wheather with the door open and most of all keepsn stuff from rattling around. Anybody have any other ideas for my new Ford Transit?

what did you use to keep the desicant from leaving the pipe?

I picked up some fine mesh aluminum window screen and JB welded it into place at key areas. Basically behind the inlet, in front of the outlet and in front of the drain leg.

I spent most of the day in the garage.

Zero productivity.

The worst thing I have ever done has been putting my office and a computer in the garage. :dunno:

I got out there yesterday and realized that i had a LOT of shooting stuff out. Deprimed and started tumbling about 1500 brass casings today. Maybe I can get some of it put away tomorrow?

Not technically in my garage, but we did start up the car for the first time. It's painted now and just waiting for final body assembly and interior.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I've been annoyed with the hose on my small Craftsman shop vac. When I'm not using it, its always in the way. Maybe I saw something on the GJF, maybe I saw something somewhere else, maybe I dreamed this up on my own.

I got a length of 3" PVC drain field pipe (lighter/cheaper than normal Sched 60 PVC), bolted it the support beam on the shelving and slid the 7' of shop vac hose into the pipe. Total cost less than $10. See the pic.

The second pic is of something I did a few years ago. Both the CM shop vac and the CM battery charger didn't have a place to secure the cords and wires to. They were dangling around all the time which was very annoying and could damage the plugs and clips.

I found some boat deck cleats, took the covers/cases apart, put the cleats on, and now I have great places to faster the cords to. Hard to see the black cords and black cleats on the black charger case; but there is a separate pair of cleats for the 120v cord and a separate pair for the 12 volt cords with the alligator clips.

Why don't the manufacturers do these simple things?

Nice looking shop you have there. When we(meaning me and the wife) can afford it we want to move out of the city and I definitely want at least a 50×50 polebarn

Continued working on Dam Roger taking the steering gear off the mounting bracket and re-furbished the bracket. Tried to get the pitman arm off and had to go buy a 33 mm socket at Northern tools. After getting the nut off tried to pull the arm off and realized I should have pulled it off before removing the gear from the frame.:dunno:

I finally cleaned the place out and now can organize it the way I want to, or at least will try!

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I replaced the power steering pump on the boat today. I've been plagued by a leak, tried to go the inexpensive route and replaced the pump with a rebuilt unit utilizing the old reservoir. Did this twice and still had issues so I bucked up and bought a marine replacement($$$). Turns out that the day before the holiday the mail order replacement turns out to be just a little different. So I got to spend the morning modifying the mount bracket so the new pump would fit, and I could get the fill cap off of it. In all it was a good day as I got to do some fab and welding.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I picked up this old Craftsman Scroll Saw off C.L. with the intention of re-purposing it into a hand tapper. I've already stripped most everything off of it. Since I don't do much wood working it's not a loss to change the intended purpose. I'll post pics of it in the Repurposing Thread when I'm done.

Doesn't work my friend, atleast for me.

Thanks for the heads up.
Sorry guys - it was a video of me sanding.....not very exciting anyways!

Not sure how to upload a video from Picasa to you tube.....used to be easy, but they've changed things.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Was on vacation last week and not around to work in the garage, but finally got in there to make some more progress on the recumbent project. Now has lengthened handle bars and a front brake. Also has an adjustable tilt seat back. Seat back soon to be padded, just haven't gotten there yet.

Need to figure out how to make my own custom length rear brake and shift cables because stock ones won't work. The front brake is actually using a rear brake cable from the orange bike which I cut down.

Got some culture at an Art Deco Automobile exhibit this morning with this wife, cut the yard, installed my garage fan, AND finally organized my long tools.

if you go to the picture hardware department or the rope and chain area you can purchase the wire in lengths of 9'. they have different gauge's of it. This is of course if you don't need it to have a sheath the entire length. I used it for my mower when the new throttle cable was $35 buck's! You can purchase the crimo on ends there also.

Got out and pulled the power steering pump of Dam Roger and the lines. I still have to get the pitman arm of the steering gear and wait on the rest of the parts to be delivered so I can start putting it back together.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Started the restoration of my 3 drawer craftsman project center roller cabinet. I have had this for quite a few years it got a lot of rust on the surface was gonna sell it then decided to restore it. I have before pics I will have after pics just one problem cant get them to upload on here. It was gray to start off when I get done it will be a key lime color with black drawers I decided to make it a little different than all the rest. Just like Taco Bell gonna live outside the box on this restoration. Hope I can get the pics to load.
