Let see, The 1/4" sets are (Stevens-Walden, SK, and a very nice Circle H Craftsman). The outboard is a 1932 or so Johnson Seahorse. The Proto is a 5450. I haven't cleaned the blade on the saw yet so don't know if its marked. Last, the truck is a 1966 C20 Custom Camper, and I found it along the road while out picking last month. It hasn't been on the road since 1992, doing a little mechanical work then it will be my daily driver. Thanks all for the replies. This thread is proof that there is still great stuff still out in the wild.

Then I stumbled across this Starrett T465XSP-2 micrometer head, 2" range, .0001 resolution, speed handle, come to find out it's around $700. to buy a new one:shocking:
Jim

Wowza, what was your price? I bet it came off a piece of laboratory equipment. I've seen them on optical and high end metrology equipment. :dunno:

If it's OK to ask, how much did you score the truck for? Nice haul on the ratchets, esp. w/ their boxes. And in good condition, too.

Small score from the Pawn Shop today. 13/16 Rotabroach?, tiny Williams 1/4 Ratchet, elusive 11/32 and another 7/16 to add to my collection and a 7/8 filler wrench. $10, love me long time...

I have found some tools this season. Taps and dies, reamers, a lot of air tools, and some polishers including my best bargain, a Fein for $1.00. Also two LED-lighted borescopes and a color TV inspection probe. There have not been as many good antiques as in past years - a lot of chisels, including a few Stanley Everlasting, and an unusual Stanley screwdriver.

Also, not a tool, but a big Pennzoil sign that I gave to a friend who collects them.

Posted this in the vintage toolbox forum too, but thought I'd share a good deal here too.

Snagged this one off CL yesterday, it's a Union Steel Chest carpenter's toolbox. Long enough to take a good sized saw, plus the notches are in the end to fit a carpenter's square. Barely any scratches on it, a little rust on the handles, but very light. One end has a handle to carry it upright. Reminds me of a Kennedy box, but the finish is different, like a grey hammertone. Inside is excellent, barely used, even the bottom of the toolbox barely has any scratches.

$10 cash. Can't beat it.

Got these on a whim a few weeks back but im not sure if it was a good deal or not. The guy said they were model A or model T wrenches but he wasnt sure and i havent done any research on them. They all say ford and seems to be in pretty good condition except one has what looks like a grinder knick taken out of the handle. I just thought they were cool. paid $25 for the lot.

My small grab from the weekend. I wanted another ball hitch mount. Got a SAVERS USA with the ball, an old Park tool box (a bit rough) a Craftman V 3/8 speeder, a short Walden USA 1/2 breaker, a Scholler (USA) adjustable, a couple of Stanley USA wood chisels, a Stanley USA square, a small unmarked plane and a few other pieces. $25, not awesome but I am happy since I wanted the ball hitch mount.

Not bad for $25 I'd say. I got a Park toolbox in that same condition and transformed it into my GJ toolbox for collectible stuff.

Looks Nice! It might be a project I take up in the future. I have a few banged up toolboxes. Any suggestions or helpful hints.

I see a RHFT ratchet, makes that a pretty good haul in my opinion!

Collectible, Collectable - depends on where your fram. (OK maybe I spelled it wrong)

This box is my shrine to collectAble tools. Inside is some drawer liner to pad both the bottom and the tray, then any tool that is old and cool (in my opinion) that won't be used to repair cars -and has been cleaned - goes inside. Here is a picture of the bottom to give you an idea. Obviously I need a theme but I like what I like. The logo was hand painted with a Testors model paint kit and a six pack of some on sale beer. Thanks for all the compliments.

I'm thinking those would make some impressive drawer pulls for some of the workbenches I've seen here lately. $5 a wrench isn't bad at all, in fact thats right on time for what you bought.

Looks very nice, great job on the logo. But what is wrong with using those pliers x4 and pipe wrench and bottle opener and screwdriver and... :lol_hitti The monkey wrench I can kinda understand.

Nothing wrong with using them, they all work. But they are either rare (needle nose pliers new old stock) or in unusually good condition (the linesman pliers are Craftsman Vanadium - some of the earliest to bear the Craftsman name) or just plain cool like the Diamond hose clamp pliers and the old flying wing logo on the ACE screwdriver. All stuff I won't likely use, just like to have them. Also, I didn't pay more than $3 for any one piece - all are garage sale pieces and some of them I know the name of the previous owner, so it has a kind of local history theme going for it. OK I did use the church key . . .

Ah. I understand. Nice tools. However I have a feeling that box is going to fill up pretty quick. ;)

1st for me today. Stopped at a sale on the way to work. Saw a sign for "Yard sale today 9/11" at a light, on a Wednesday? :headscrat Crazy high prices IMHO. Lots of stuff I wanted, but couldn't justify the price. Escaped with the following for $7. All are after cleaned up. I've been looking for a smaller pair of vise grips to go with the nice larger ones I got from a member here. Couldn't bring myself to get the china ones from lowes, mission now accomplished.

I can envision attaching those as drawer pulls by using raw copper wire in U-shape over the end of wrench and in cabinet through 2 holes. Cross over wire inside cabinet and draw them tight.

This would enable use of rare wrenches without destroying them. I sure would NOT recommend any method of attaching them that damages them. Also do NOT shine them up as that patina is part of their value.

With double box end like those, you can use a bolt and a washer, and cinch then down pretty, well, BUT those Ford wrenches do not sit flat on the ends, so you might want to make up some wedge shaped "shims" from some wood. I just checked and door/window wood shims almost make it...

Count me as jealous, still trying to find my Wilton bullet. I'd try the vise thread, some of those guys will know everything there is to know about it.

Found four 5-drawer flat files on Craigslist for $25 each. These are 47” wide x 36” deep. When all 20 drawers are stacked, it will be about 66" tall. I'll need to modify a few to give me some extra depth since they are only 2" deep, but couldn't pass them up for this price. They are standing on end in the photo. Here's a link to my current flat file.

I remember you posted your project a while back. Good job. My wife even gave it a two thumbs up, and shes a hateful woman (full of hate).
I don't have the talent to freehand something like that. I remembered, too, that you asked the site owners permission to use their logo. I think they could make decals or even metal tags and sell them on here. I'd buy a couple.

Who is your dentist? A mafia goon?

That's a you **** right there. It cost me around $500 to have two of them extracted in the late 90's and I never went back for the other two. Good money I could have spent on things I don't need.

(They let me keep mine, too).

Ooooo YOU **** on that. For $100 that is a heck of a lot of high quality storage. Much better than most purpose made tool boxes. Should be ~25K in^2 of storage space, right?
