Here is the G.Boley lathe that came from Idi Amin's Estate Company sale. The lady had no idea what it was so we agreed on a price of 20.00

It looks like its in good shape but has minimal tooling. Ill mess with the cord later tonight and try to get it running.

That's a nice little lathe. Up here you can stumble on a jewelers lathe but its always junked out w/o any collets or so out priced you would think it was solid gold. $20 gets a you **** out of me because I wanted years ago.

Come to think of it I have a super tiny watch makers lathe from France that needs parts for it somewhere. Is there a thread for true mini lathes?

hI spent a lot more than I'm used to today, went to a raceway that sells beer and has a swap meet....
Spent 70 for a bucket of =v= , 3/4 drive snap on ratchet thing, and a set of newer craftsman metric wrenches. Then I had a few more beers and bought a wright 3/4 drive ratchet with a few sockets for 15.
So beer and tools I spent 150 today
A few of the 3/4 were Plomb, some proto and of course wright.

The 3/4 SO ratchet thingy pays for all the tools, now you're only out beer money!

That lamp is perfect for the milling machine - almost will look like the designers intended it to be there. Can't wait to see it done!

Thanks man, I posted it on a machinist site and a guy in British Columbia has the same exact lamp on his lathe that he also found at a garage sale!

Also went to an estate sale and got the following items:

pic 1-2:
Green metal box marked "Repair Kit, Tubeless Tire", made by Adams PSP, Inc. Has the military FSN number on it, probably 1960s or 1970s. Contents included the instructions (on the inside lid), two tubes of repair string(???), an applicator bottle for finding the leak in the tire, and two small Auto-Kit wrenches (I don't think the wrenches were originally part of the kit). $2 for the box and contents.

pic 3-4:
1-gallon gas can of an unknown type, made by Protectoseal in Chicago IL. Very well made, spring loaded cap you open by squeezing the handle. Paid $12 only because I thought it was pretty cool design, I love retro-look stuff.

My weekend wasn't too fruitful.

Saturday I spent way too much time chasing down yard sales that didn't bother to open, or had signs that sent you in the wrong direction. There were a couple of us in a convoy driving around in circles.
There was one YS that advertised power tools, and actually had some good ones. Mostly newer, but quality. No HD cheap junk. Unfortunately, there was nothing that I needed, or caught my eye.

Sunday wasn't worth going out, nothing advertised, and heavy rain and a dismal morning kept the flea markets empty of vendors.

I spent a whole $5 on saturday.

$2 for an oil can, and $3 for a sliver of RR track. (pic 1)

The oil can was timely. My old one was rust and crud encrusted, which was keeping the pinholes from leaking (not really). The leaks were getting worse and it needed to be replaced. Now that I have a new one to keep my cutting oil in, I cleaned up the old one. Someday I may plug the pinholes with lead to make it useable again. The other photo shows my old can (tall) next to the new one (short). Both are made by Eagle, but the old one has the logo embossed, and the new one is stamped.

The piece of RR track was thick with flaky rust. It got dipped in ER and polished, and will live on the mantle in the mancave.

I picture a cord or leather wrapped, possibly some nice wood handles made for the "shaft" creating a hammer/pummeling tool!

Well I didn't get skunked completely for the weekend. it is was a close thing. yesterday was "family obligation day" and then it rained like hell where we were, so even after the obligations were over, it was a complete bust.

Today we went to a block sale, (Nothing for me, a bauble that SWMBO got for my oldest daughter, otherwise, nothing. then on the way to the last planned stop, which was an estate sale but the two non tool items thy wanted those items more than I did based on what they were asking... (only the two were planned) a target of opportunity got me these for $2:

So a VERY slow weekend for me.

Try cleaning it up with wd-40 and a rag first, once you evaporust it, it will be all new looking. jmo.

The estate sale company had their own auction site through 'AuctionFlex', this was the first time I tried to do an online auction. I know people had pointed out before that a lot of auctions go sky high and I saw that here with HF tools going for more than store price.

Wow, you guys are good. I spent a couple days digging around the internet looking for information, and didn't even get close. I think after reading the patent and looking at the drawings I believe this is the correct manufactory . The patent date on the ratchet which is the only marks on it, match up exactly with it. I am going to send some pictures to AA and see if they want to add it to their archives. Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it.

Here's my meager pickings. Knock off Dremel that's seen very little use + the box of spares. For $5.00 I've got rotary files, disks, mandrels, etc. to use with the real Dremel for a long time to come. I might make a make a holder to mount the grinder to a lathe. The lamp is actual solid brass, not plate, and works. Another $3.
The lady at the sale I got the lamp at tossed in the Evans Key Caddy free. Hit another and found an old eggbeater drill. Can't have too many for $.50. The level is a Marshall Wells "Zenith" for a buck. I usually pass up carpenters levels but it's design and manufacture were too strange to leave behind.
Vaco wire strippers (nifty) and the Cman pliers set me back another $4.00.
The Morse code key came from one of the boxes of stuff from last weekend. I'm counting it as a communications tool, so its kosher to post it here.

Nice finds and saves! That Craftsman box has another hidden feature for you; open the drawer with the red Craftsman tag, and look at the embossed area on the inside of the drawer.


Oh and be VERY careful with the stand the scroll saw in on with or without the wheels, as narrow as the are it does not take much to tip them over. I gave a friend one of those, and his son tipped it over and it busted the casting on half...

I'm jealous over that scroll saw base. I've been looking for a similar one around here to go under my Craftsman, but no luck. Shipping charges on eBay kill any chance of getting one online. The whole "Shabby Chic" (I hate that term) movement has turned them all into hall tables and driven the prices on old steel through the roof.

Outlaw: That is a concern of mine. I wheeled it around for the picture, and I could tell that it wanted to tip over. Wouldn't take much. I may end up removing the wheels and bolting it to the floor. The on/off switch is in a weird place. Behind the motor.

Earlier I posted a picture of the saw at the garage sale with the other two. The other two saws, which were on the ground, were missing parts. I passed on them. Just don't have enough room for them.

As you can see, those tools are in my living room / work room. We live on the second floor of an old apartment building. Had to dismantle and carry that beast up stairs.

Superclamp is a Hargrave/Cincinnati tools clamp. I have only seen 2/3 inch superclamps, that one is a giant! Nice find!

I'm not sure what I would use them for either!

I did have a thought in mind though. My work bench is pretty thick and I can clamp things to it when I work on them. And to press in and out the hinge pin on my locomotive bell that I need to restore! So I do have a method to my madness.
