Spent the weekend running cable for all my security cameras in new house and new detached garage. Ran stereo speaker wire in garage and great room too. Tecky guy quoted my GC nearly 12k for that and the phone and network stuff. The fun I had crawling the rafters was priceless and I got it done just before the insulation guys this week.

Spent a few hours yesterday and tonight building a new rear bumper for my son's 1995 dodge pickup. Get some paint on it tomorrow , and install it.

Gave my 10 year old daughter a treasure chest jewelry box I made for her birthday. It is made from Macrocarpa with brass fittings. All corners finger jointed and glued. We filled it with gold wrapped chocolate bars and coins to look like treasure. She loved it and even shared some chocolates with us all.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I've been attempting to spend a little time on the Bronco almost every day.. 5 minutes, 3 hours.. Whatever I can get.. I figure if I can do something every day, it'll get done eventually.. :)

I've reached a spot where I needed to pick up some epoxy primer, so I can't do too terribly much. I want to blast/sand some of the rust I've found, but don't want to leave the bare metal just sitting, so I picked up some epoxy primer from Southern Polyurethanes, Inc today..

Being at a "stopping" point, I pulled the heater apart to see what shape it is in. I was debating pulling the heater to clean up the look, but have decided it needs the heater. My core leaks so I'm thinking about replacing the core and upgrading the fan/squirrel cage and rebuilding the stock heater..

I also spent a little time going over the body looking for rust the PO covered with Krylon.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Just moved a load of stuff around, took the now surplus to requirments due to lack of space old pine wardrobe apart so I can reuse the wood (some good shelves there if nothing else) moved a load of tools, heaved my toolbox out of the way and decided where I want my new to me work bench. I then bust a gut shoving it into position and with the help of my trolley jack and some bits of wood and hardibacker levelled the thing up as it doesn't have adjustable feet and my floor is all over the place (100 year old brick floor)

I decided where my big olympia vise is going and started wire wheeling the top prior to bolting stuff on it. (gotta mount my bench top drill press as well) I also discovered my floor jack slides nicely underneath it. Still got most of the top to finish then it'll get a wipe over with an oily rag and I can then move some shelving to make a hole for my toolbox near the bench.

I love the end result but hate the process of moving all this **** around.

Completely disassembled both front calipers on my motorcycle (waiting for parts), bled the rear brakes, rebuilt the front master cylinder, and removed both wheels. I ran to a motorcycle shop and had the tires demounted, and now I have to prep the rims for sealing the spokes. I'm going tubeless!

Today I got out my Drill Doctor:

And my box of "drill bits that need help":

i-VfDf2DC-M.jpg

And I started sharpening bits.
I ended up with a full drill index of sharpened bits, ready to go back to work:

The Drill Dr. is one of the best investments I have made (maybe not as good as AAPL, but still a good one!)

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Worked on the golf carts today and got some parts...

New cart (used, 2011) got a work box put on the back and a nice new tinted windshield.

Old cart (2001) got the work box taken off it and put on the new one. Got some fold down seats to put on the back, a clays basket for the front, and a floor mount dual gun holder. Pulled the batteries since it was already mostly apart and cleaned out all the corrosion, going to paint the battery box tomorrow then get everything back on Friday. Unfortunately it's supposed to rain this weekend so I won't get to take it for sporting clays till probably next weekend... :(

Backed my car in the garage after washing it, dried it, vacuumed it, cleaned/conditioned the leather, dressed the tires and QD'd the paint. The car is so much easier to wash now that I Opticoated it. I also separated by old garage door opener that I replaced a couple weeks ago to clear that out of the garage...

I finished the Transmission change out on my 1969 Camaro. New Muncie Type 4-Speed, Scattershield, Centerforce Clutch, 3-1/2" Aluminum Driveline.

Problem with clearence around larger (1350 Spicer) U-Joint. Used ratchet straps to tweek the exhaust system.

Steevo, long ago I had heard that these didn't sharpen drill correctly, in that it doesn't under cut the ramp to let the drill cut. How do the drill cut after they are finished? I hope these old tails of it not working are not true. I would like to buy one...

I'd be interested in knowing also as I probably have a thousand bits I would like to tune up. I haven't bought a Drill Doctor yet, all for tha fact that when we were at Lowes the other day, I forgot to get one. I had the wife with me, so it was Lawn and Garden, and by the time we got that done, it was like....fuggit!!!!!!!!

We have a deluxe model at work. I picked up one at an Estate like the one posted here (the box looked terrible, but it was new. never used).

Never had an issue with it or my bits after using it. I'm satisfied. There is an attachment available tor sharpening left hand bits as well.

I assumed that was the purpose of the outwards dimple at 06:00 that lifts the chuck on each rotation. A subtle cut of the ramp, so long as the bit is installed in the chuck correctly? Then again, I don't own one yet. But that half-off in HotDeals is tempting.

Filled up both the recycling bin and garbage bin of **** for garbage day today. Next week is the yard and shed before the snow comes. Screw Kijiji buyers that never come.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Last night I got home from work and noticed a drip of oil under my son's LJ. We threw it on the lift and saw that he had a transmission cooler line starting to leak. Disassembled it and replaced the small section of rubber line between the cooler and the rigid line. Then the fun job of cleaning all of the ATF off of his suspension components.

Afterwards I pulled my Jeep into the shop and divided my tools into two smaller tool bags rather than one large tool bag that I couldn't begin to move around or even lift out of the Jeep if I had to. I removed all of my sockets from the blow molded cases they came in, although it was nice having them in those cases, and installed them on socket rails and put all sockets in one tool bag. I then combined my wrenches into roll pouches and put all other tools into another soft sided tool bag.

I didn't gain a ton of room but a little from removing the sockets from the molded boxes but more importantly I can move the two tool bags around a lot easier now compared to the one prior. I also improved the room for our cooler and folding chairs for when we go off-roading.

Then checked the Jeep over for the weekend. Our Jeep club is having a large area clean-up around one of our local off-roading trails for National Public Lands Use Day. We will then run the trail as a club after the cleanup.

Looking forward to a great weekend with friends doing some service work and helping to keep our trails open.

I hear ya brother! I spent an hour in mine last night whilst the wife was watching Strictly Come Dancing (Dancing with the Stars) which I can't abide. Took a couple of cold ones with me and cleared off a load of shelves, sorted the **** out and put stuff back on em. Still got loads to do though.

I finished up mowing the yard(s), then came into the garage and straightened some things up. The wife brought down a sixer of Reds Strawberry Ale for herself when she's down here, set the empty carton down and Sam the Hell Dog got a hold of it and shredded it all to pieces.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I put a new top on a very cool old typewriter stand.

The wood is a single piece of Douglass Fir, 20" X 20", and was reclaimed from the old Boeing plant #2.

Plant 2 was in operation during WWII, building B-17's.

http://www.duluthtimber.com/pr_Boeing_Plant_2.pdf

I love the cast iron caster covers, the foot pedal used to raise and lower the wheels, and the old bolt holes in the wood.

Not sure what I'll end up using it for, but I'm sure it will find a home in my shop.
