Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Got my son in laws F150 running, it was his brothers and his brother passed away a couple of years ago and he was able to get it from his uncle. Hasn't ran in around six years, all new tune up stuff, carb, hoses. Still have to drop the tanks and clean them, Its running off a coffee can right now, I can't believe how smooth it is. Saturday should be the hyd clutch bleed and make sure the transmission is good.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Tried to adjust the clutch on my tractor. Started at niine this morning, finished at seven tonight. Wound up taking the clutch pedal off, boring the hole in it back to round, making a bronze bushing to fit it, and turning down the shaft that it sits on. I still have to weld up and re-drill the small hole that the linkage pins to. Maybe then there will be enough motion in the whole set up to actually release the clutch.

Oh yeah, while this was going on I got sidetracked. My neighbor brought up two tractor tires and rims, older than dirt, and leaking fluid from every where. I set him up with the pump and he pumped the remaining fluid out into a barrel. Then we beat on them for the next three hours and finally got them off the rims. He is going to clean up the rims and paint them, but one of them will need some welding before it can be used.

When the rims are all nice and shiny we will remount the tires with new tubes, and pump the fluid back in.

I would rather work on tractor tires with the rims still bolted to the tractor, but these were spares that he had gotten to replace the ones on the tractor.

After spending a few days cleaning, today a pretty much tore it apart. One was to cut a hole to install a vent hood for an old muffin fan to exhaust the heat cpu generates. I opened up the computer and added a switch and pilot for lead I ran out to fan.

Dropped temp about 15° inside cabinet
Going to put up another cabinet but decided to cover remaining walls with some more pegboard.

took remainder of the day..still some trim to do
Went out side to 'see' if fans LEDs showed..
Ha! Thats funny...
may I should snip the led wires-though it wont be on at night-

Day 2 in starting to unbury my '40 Ford. Why/how I allowed it to become a makeshift shelving 'system, I don't know. Also throwing out a surprising amount of true garbage I never did before. Quite liberating.

Bought some yard art at the Pomona swap meet last weekend so I found a little time to put it up

So its an international truck grille and head lites
thought it would be sort of cool to make the headlamps work with motion sensors

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

While waiting for glue to dry on some cheap aftermarket interior panels that needed repair I checked off 2 items on my "bench project" list. First was to do something with the 3 non-working chainsaws and second was a shop clock.

shopclockworks_zpsb247ad08.jpg

Zero dollars in the clock and still need to scrounge numbers from car emblems.

Little McCulloch chainsaw was a freeby that someone had bought parts for, took the saw apart and stopped, so it was a snap to get running. Big Huskvarna has a shopping list...chain, plug and air filter, but it runs great. 3rd chainsaw (Homelite) has a crankcase full of small metal parts instead of a piston so it goes away.

Very nice, I was actually looking on craigslist yesterday for a 30s-40s grille to do something similar with, except inside the garage.

Nice, I did a similar one as a thermometer a while back, just used vinyl numbers though. I have some clock movements sitting around for my next project, just looking for the right hub cab to use them on though.

The Pomona swap meet... It's been 25 years since I have been there. Thanks for the blast from the past!

Spent 2 hours in the garage trying to organize it so the overhaul can start. It is now a bigger mess than when I started.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Spent most of the day putting a 6" lift on my golf cart... hehehe... Was a little higher than I wanted but it was cheaper than a 4" lift... go figure... Easy enough to install, just tedious with so many nuts and bolts...

Very happy with the finally results. Now I just need some fender flares and mud flaps and I'm set...

Blue cart is my fathers, his is stock... just for comparison.

Finished cleaning and organizing my Grandfather's old wiring cart. He passed twelve years ago, and it had just been sitting in one of his buildings, collecting dust.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Back at the tractor I was working on yesterday. Got the clutch pedal squared away, then drained the hydraulic system, replaced a couple fittings, installed new filter and new oil.

After that I pulled some pieces off the mower and welded them. Tomorrow I will finish that up.

Finished up the final details and got the Friday Powder **** ready for unveiling tomorrow. This is all for a 1926 Plymouth Sedan -- he's still got the original flathead 4 but is building a 318 for enjoyment. It's now Sea Water Teal, Silk Satin Black and a hefty topcoat of Clear Vision. Ya'll get a Super Sneak Preview :D ...

I didn't have a clean spare 4-barrel handy to do a full blown mock-up but you get the idea.

Installed the heater in the new shop. So far, it blows out hot air and no smoke from the panel so I guess it's working.

Nice!!! I hope that being in Georgia, that you won't need it on a daily basis though. They can spin a power meter. By buddy put one in his garage, and he was out there almost every day for a month until he got his power bill. Later on this winter, if you would, come back an let others know what it runs you. I know that Georgia will be different than the **** weather we have in Ohio though. I run propane on a 120 gallon tank, never let the garage get below 50f and when I'm out there I kick it up to 70f. The tank of propane last me maybe 1 1/2 months. So I'd be curious how electric compares. BTW....my heater is a 45,000btu Hamilton.

Finished up a clients F250 Powerstroke and then winterized the domestic water system and washer/dryer in the coach. Hopefully tonight I can start changing fluids/filters and get her ready for her winter slumber.

Ooh! Ooh! I started installing mine last night. Is yours 5K or 7.5K? I got the 7.5K to push back the New York winter.

I gained some of my garage back. Although the wife still has some more to do as far as putting things away. but she made a significant dent in it though. :rocker:

Were you looking in my window yesterday :scared: That's what I did

No, were you looking in mine?? :eyecrazy:

I did nothing tonight in the garage. Put the lawn sweeper to use to gather up the leaves.

I plan on making some good progress on installing the vinyl siding for the front wall of my garage tomorrow. May even get the freshly painted octagon window in there too.

These are great lights with variable intensity. Low as I set them on low beams, then to full intensity when I turn on my high beams!

Hard mounted a tail bag and wired in flexible LED strips on my daily driver. I also installed a brake light modulator that is only $5 to help with visibility.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Custom built some cabinets in my race trailer. It came with upper cabinets above the bench but there was a lot of wasted space above. So I ordered four doors from the manufacturer to match the original cabinets and framed it all in. Got a little bit of trim work left and need to add a couple of lights to upper cabinets shining down on bench but pretty pleased with it so far.
