I was late to the party but the sellers where family of a life-long mechanic who had passed away. It was an insane free for all, everyone was just throwing tools into buckets and boxes and it seemed like a fist fight would happen at any second. Most of the buyers were incredibly rude.

I walked to the entrance of a tool shed and a lady was ripping a pneumatic grease gun off the wall, literally ripping the screws out of the holder to get at it. I glanced in the giant planter she had thrown a bunch of tools in, mostly vintage Craftsman and SK wrenches and sockets. She explained that her husband in the oil field loses tools all the time. I shuddered at the thought of these tools being disposable. I asked her if I could sneak by to see what was in the shed, she gave me a look like I had just asked her to take off her top and just kept throwing tools into her planter. I had to politely squeeze by her as she tried to block me.

The whole place was pretty gutted but I made out okay with a few things no one else managed to find. A few people asked if I was buying what I had in my little box and then they were really angry when I said yes, people were crazy at this sale, but premium tools at garage sale prices will do that to people.

Nice little metal timing light and dwell meter.

Wonder if this guy originally owned the box?

All that for $35 ? Hell I would have been running to my car after paying that little for all that and swearing all the way because that die set was slowing me down

Nice Williams wrench set. Not easy to find that large set that complete. The 5/8 will be an easy find and looks like nine4gmc is hooking you up.

Yup that gets a big you ****

Got a small Hein Werner bottle jack, no handle. It seems to work, but I think it needs a rebuild, looks a bit pitted/corroded.

Oh yeah, had to pay $1.50 for it, but I managed.

1 ½ ton Hydraulic jack E1.7P part No 60226

I don't see a wedding ring? Here is what I don't understand. If she is truly your wife, why did you have to borrow the image from break.com? :dunno:

I was wondering the same thing Zkling but back on topic I picked up a Starrett combination square from the Pawn shop today for 10 bucks and its model number C11MH-300 and it has a 300mm blade on it. The best part to me at least is zero rust on the square which is unusual for machinist tools around my parts unfortunately.

You're right, I digress, I just hate when I feel I am being lied to. :dunno:

Awesome score on the combo square. Hope you can find the other heads for it down the road.

1.) Why? that is one thing that irks me about this forum. When you call someone out; everyone either backs away or it gets shut down by mods. :dunno:

Yep, you're welcome for the pic, google is a powerful tool

Regardless. It's a nice avatar.

Haven't been on for a while. Life gets busy.

Here's some of the stuff I've managed to pick up in my travels. Stopped by this guys sale that he holds every couple of months and cuts me deals. Mostly the standard fare on the table. Worked out to about $5. Happy to get the Jarvi ring mandrel just to use it like a hand held trumpet anvil for small stuff. The roll up kits a promo from McCune Cyrus Co-San Jose. The phone# is 3-4783, so it shouldn't be hard to date it. Hammer is made by Sare. Pliers are Indestro, Blackhawk battery pliers, and Vice-grips.
Also found a source of of small motors. Asked him if he had any sewing machines and it turns out he sets them aside for a guy that makes model tractors out of the main chassis. But he dumps the cases and the motors from them. For $5 a set he will sell me the pedals and motors. I even got the hooded light off of a beautiful Singer. It was a shame to gut it but its $25 for a whole machine. And I don't sew.
These set me back $10 ea. at a different sale. The Roto-zip looks like it was used once, in the box w/ the manual. The gas can is sweet. It's made by Blitz for Stilh and as you can see, splits in half to reveal a tool box on the bottom.

Sack, Nice scores! Those ring sizers are not cheap even used. I like the vertical peen sheet metal hammer. You don't see many of those. and I have one of those gas can tool boxes. Mine is not marked Stilh, but great for dedicated use!

Got this older Beach bottom cabinet for $25. Thinking about re-painting it with my usual colors (blue Tremclad) and making some top to use it as a mobile bench:

Thanks!

It's funny, the gas can. The first two strangers that saw it wanted it badly. One at the sale when I bought it and another guy that caught a glance of it in the back of my truck in passing. It holds a little over a gallon, its heavy gauge metal, and it hides perfectly out of the way behind the wheel well on my truck. I think the tool compartment might even hold enough basic tools for roadside work. Its my emergency backup plan.

That and the big toolbox behind the seat. Just in case.:)

Is that Beach box missing some drawers? Wonder if you can find / order replacements? Or make them.
