Was at the scrapyard today dropping off a load of electric motors for scrap. I happened to ask if there were any vises around and was shown this, got it for $20, weighs 47lbs. Looks like a very well finished large woodworking vise with a lot of options. The jaws are 14" wide and the overall length is 24".
The mounting plate is hinged so the vise can be swiveled 90˚ upward setting the jaws parallel to the floor.
There's a handle with a black knob that allows the jaws to move out of parallel with each other by a camming action.
It is missing a handle that tightens a collar which allows swiveling the entire assembly 360˚ but without the locking mechanism it's useless.
There is no name or marking on this at all so if anyone has an idea as to who made it I may be able to source the missing locking handle.
thanks,
Rob
