Been a lurker for along time on GJ, finally able to post my build in hopes of helping someone out with their build. I have gained so much knowledge from this site, it is amazing. I hope I can give back a little. I know that the pics are what everyone wants to see, me too.
So I will do my best to get lots of pics along the way. My lasy shop at my last house was 40x60x14 and I soon found out that I needed more space. So I vowed to build it the way I wanted the first time on this go around which will hopefully be the last time as I have no intention of ever moving again. I have thought about everything that I liked about the last one and hopefully everything that I wanted to change. I dont' think that any shop is ever " done " but I am gonna make a honest try at this one. Here are the specs:
Timber frame/ pole barn style build with framed in and finished walls on the inside.
60x100x18
Last 16' of building - gravel carport of sorts
4-12 pitch - metal roof
Scissor trussed for extra high ceilings
Bat and board siding stained
4 - 12x14 garage doors - wood colored w/ windows up top
4 - man doors, one on each side
Lots of windows
16x60 loft up stairs - future bar-kitchen and party room w/ deck
bathroom with shower, toilet sink downstairs
Thermofoil - spray in closed cell insulation and sealed
Roof peak is 30'
Under loft and bathroom height 10'
Loft should be about 19+/- ft high
Central Boiler ECL2400 wood fired for radiant floor heat in the slab.
I will be building my house next as well, and this boiler will heat BOTH.
Slab floor 6" thick with R20 insulation underneath
2 Post a-symmetrical hoist - 10,000lb
4 Post drive on hoist as well - separate bays
There is lots more, but onto a few pics. I will update this as best as I can as we go along. Excavation started on Sunday December 22nd.
