Awesome Build!!! More pictures of your Long Bed Mega Cab!!, Awesome truck, which place did your frame stretch?, or did you do it?
My wife and I are waiting on a short sale home we are in contract with. It has 5 1/2 acres too, but with no garage.. I'm hoping to build a shop the size of yours. Looking to be able to park a tractor trailer inside for maint. So 100 foot length is needed.. Are you on Pirates 4x4? think I remember seeing pictures over there a month ago...
My Brother lives out in Oregon he went to school in Bend and not is out in Aurora.

I may be interested in some price specs so I can compare. I've helped build two large metal aircraft hangers in the past... Thought of doing stacked 40' Sea Containers for my walls, but the cost might be higher...
Thanks,
Deo

I bought it from the original owner, he did the stretch himself when it had 9000 miles on it. He did the stretch the right way, it was stretched on the straight frame rail section under the cab , not on the arch over the rear wheels like all the shops do. Much stronger, it was sleeved and welded inside and out. Bomb proof. I have towed alot of 25,000lb loads with it 1000's of miles with zero issues. It is a 08 6.7 6 speed with all the delete's, h/s mini max, 100hp injectors, s/b intake, copper head gasket and head studs, south bend dual disc clutch, makes 650hp and 1250 TQ. The wheels are 19.5's , it has thuran track bar and suspension links, 2" super lift coil in front, bilsteins all the way around, on board air with air bags in the rear , sterling 1.5 ton brakes and lots more. I built the truck I felt dodge should have built that I could not buy and I wanted it to last a long time. It is my workhorse and does not sit idle very often. Here are a few pics of it doing work, what I built it to do.

To give you guys an idea on scale, all my interior doors upstairs are 7' , so the ceiling is 10-12' depending on where you stand.

That's great! It's going to feel open! One request. Now that the shop is closed off I am curious what a shot from one corner to the other looks like. Just want a feel for the space inside! Thanks for sharing man! Definitely a badass build!

I'm guessing the bottom chord of the trusses in the house are atleast 2x6 ? They make the 2x4 studs in the wall look small.

Maybe I missed it, what are you using for insulation inthe house ? Spray foam ?
EDIT: never mind yep spray foam, found it.

Nice progress.

Re: 60x100x18 - My dream coming true in the PNW.

Not a huge update, lots of little stuff. They lag bolted every truss to every pole with 8 - 1" x 14" lag bolts, wow talk about overkill. My engineer said, well it is now hurricane and tornado proof.

I just now saw this thread. Don't get on that often. But I saw this and thought to myself "I hope that  means he knows the engineer is lying through his teeth". A f5 Tornado will cut through that like butter. But you will have a lot of kindling. Maybe less. It would not be the bolts you have to worry about, but the wood. Down here in Tornado Alley we know these things. You ought to see that they do to a forest.

But with that said, this is gonna be beautiful build. :eyecrazy:

I always cringe seeing the mega cabs with the 6' bed. Never looked right to me. Yours on the other hand is proportioned well.

Oh yeah, your not going to get any sympathy about Winter finally getting to ya. We've had it long enough here! Look at this way, 24" of natural insulation on the roof.

Been on the kubota for 2 days, 28" in the flat up to 36" in the drifts. Going to mid 40's this week, this is going to be a huge mess.

Been a lurker for along time on GJ, finally able to post my build in hopes of helping someone out with their build. I have gained so much knowledge from this site, it is amazing. I hope I can give back a little. I know that the pics are what everyone wants to see, me too. :) So I will do my best to get lots of pics along the way. My lasy shop at my last house was 40x60x14 and I soon found out that I needed more space. So I vowed to build it the way I wanted the first time on this go around which will hopefully be the last time as I have no intention of ever moving again. I have thought about everything that I liked about the last one and hopefully everything that I wanted to change. I dont' think that any shop is ever " done " but I am gonna make a honest try at this one. Here are the specs:

Timber frame/ pole barn style build with framed in and finished walls on the inside.

60x100x18
Last 16' of building - gravel carport of sorts
4-12 pitch - metal roof
Scissor trussed for extra high ceilings
Bat and board siding stained
4 - 12x14 garage doors - wood colored w/ windows up top
4 - man doors, one on each side
Lots of windows
16x60 loft up stairs - future bar-kitchen and party room w/ deck
bathroom with shower, toilet sink downstairs
Thermofoil - spray in closed cell insulation and sealed
Roof peak is 30'
Under loft and bathroom height 10'
Loft should be about 19+/- ft high

Central Boiler ECL2400 wood fired for radiant floor heat in the slab.
I will be building my house next as well, and this boiler will heat BOTH.
Slab floor 6" thick with R20 insulation underneath

2 Post a-symmetrical hoist - 10,000lb
4 Post drive on hoist as well - separate bays

There is lots more, but onto a few pics. I will update this as best as I can as we go along. Excavation started on Sunday December 22nd. :bounce:

Would you be willing to post the floor plan for your house? I am very interested in building a house like yours and would love to see how you laid yours out. Thanks!

Well the weather has finally broke enough to get back to work. We ended up with 28" of snow at our property, and I spent the better half of 2 days clearing it all with the tractor. Glad that's over for now.

I picked up a pair of hand made trusses for the entry way of the house. These were on craiglist of all places. They were made for a custom home and the homeowner changed their mind after they were done. The guy who made them was already paid for them and would not return their money. They had no place to put them, so he kept them in his shop. He listed them for a ridiculously low price and I was the first guy there with cash and a trailer. They are 8x10 doug fir, 18' 6" long and weigh about 600 lbs each, very solid. Should look really cool when I get it all built out over the front door.

Started the bat and board siding on the west wall, the osb area will be covered by the trusses for the outdoor patio area. Also got the south wall, almost done. And we got the entire metal roof done on the house.

Is the ground inside going to be thawed out before you put the insulation and lex down? The exterior looks phenomenal? Love it!
