Tinkered with some minor stuff, cleaned up a bit, had a smoke & watched the rain turn the snow into fog for a bit...

Sort of outside my garage since my truck won't fit in there and allow me to work on it, but I replaced the blower motor on it, I thought it had leaves in it but turns out the bearing was going out. It was the original and it does have 194K on it so can't complain I suppose!

This is one of those chain-of-events things we all get into from time to time. Finally getting around to restoring my vintage mechanic's bench. It has been blown apart, all the sheetmetal media blasted, and primed and is at the painter's. It will go in the annex building with the lift. The tool box for the annex was a Harbor Freight five drawer red rolling cart.
While waiting on the painter I sandblasted and painted the basic center framework for the mechanic's desk. Purchased two of the black, four drawer Harbor Freight roll around carts and cut them down to fit behind the double doors in the center of the mechanic's bench. The bottom unit rolls out the top unit is fixed to the shelf.
I emptied out the annex tools into the mechanic's drawers and now I had another red cart to cut down and put under a bench in the main shop. The photos should help explain.

I pulled the transmission tunnel off my pickup and tried to decide whether or not I want to change out the TH350 myself or have it done at a local shop. I have it up on high jackstands and I was thinking about buying a transmission jack and attempting it but I don't have any help. Not sure if I can wrestle it in and out without killing myself. I can save about $500 labor and have the satisfaction of doing it myself. But, then again, $500 goes pretty fast at the chiropractor and even quicker at the funeral home!

You can buy a bunch of tools for $500! Even if you only do a ****** swap once more, it'd be worth buying the jack. Its not that hard - especially if you have a removable tunnel!

may be there should be a sub section to this post or a new one started that is " what did you PLAN on doing in your garage today but got interrupted or side tracked". I know I start out many times with a plan but somehow it goes for a s**t for what ever reason.:headscrat

I repowered my 7 year old sears
snowblower.The 8horse Briggs
sheared off top ring and land.
I took care of it. I researched those
Raptors at HF and guys are putting
them on everything. So for a 100
bucks and a little engineering I
made the 6.5 fit. It is a self propelled blower so we will see
how long it lasts. Picked it up at 9
and was moving snow at 4.

Finished up the "under stairs" access door for the daughter's house and made a few shopping lists. Parents stopped over and I showed them the Kreg jig I bought with the Menard's gift card they got me for Christmas.

She's been listening to some advice and heeding it. I popped off some corner trim last week, knowing it would screw up the drywall. I mudded it up with two coats and she sanded them off. I looked at them tonight and I must say, for her first time sanding drywall, it looks pretty darn good.

I pointed out a few things that she should fix. Most people won't notice but I told her she's like me, it'll kill her knowing it's there and she might as well fix them now and just touch up the paint.

Passed the final plumbing inspection for the tankless and the new gas line to the kitchen. Now I can remove the dead water softener, pull the 220 out of the kitchen wall, run the new 110 receptacle and finalize the gas line stub out for the new range. Then I'll figure out what to do with the space I gained on the back wall of my garage.

Well yesterday it got up to 43 and sunny that's a 68 degree swing from last wk at this day,
which was- 24
Anyhow , I opened the garage doors and shoveled , sweep out all the road sand from this winter. A 5 gallon bucket full . Won't wash the floor until the snow quits.
It's amazing what a sunny warm day opposed to cloudy and below 0 temps all winter , does for a persons outlook.

Finished up another gas pump to put in the lineup. Went with another unrestored look to match my last one. I put glass in this one dated 1939, very rare..never seen another set of ad glass like it.

Fixed a u1000 code (No CAN communication on transmission and ABS) that was causing a 4th gear start on a 05 Altima for a local used car lot. Found a relay inside the right kick panel not listed on the factory schematics that was putting out 3.5 volts instead of battery voltage. It was a happy day!

Had to go rescue the bride from work as her car wouldn't start at 1:30 in the am (she works nights), the battery is only 3 years old so I put the charger on it and it came up to snuff. I think the main problem is that she only drives 3 miles to work, 3 days a week so the car never runs enough to charge it back up properly.

I guess I'll just put it on the charger once a month for insurance, can't have her car not starting late at night like that....

Good idea. Hang a pigtail and put it on every weekend, since she apparently doesn't drive the car on weekends either.

Nice looking work area Earl. I finished sealing the windshield on my shop truck. An old guy with a shaky right hand and beer on his breath can sure make a mess with butyl rubber.

Thank you, sir. It's been a long road getting it and the house around it done.
It'll look a lot better once I get the reloaders and stuff mounted up this weekend.

I finished up the HF repower of
my Craftsman blower. Put all the
guards back on, touched up the
paint. Tidied up the garage. You
know its gonna snow again. Gotta
get back on the Dodge Demon. Got
the rad out and bought dual electric fans with shroud. Hope to
drive it by maybe mid April. I am
getting all **** and polishing the
alminum radiator.

Installed a new master cylinder in the YJ and bled the brakes. (God I hate doing that)
Put a new tie rod end on the ram
Pulled out all the camping gear to get ready for my desert trip
General cleaning and maintenance and fluid checks on both vehicles.

Oh and discovered the tailpipe rusted out coming out of the muffler of the YJ so I welded that back up

Got a 5.9 Mopar engine off the hoist and onto an engine stand. Need to put the intake on it, replace a freeze plug or two. Prepped the hoist for storage out of the way.
Cleaned up some to get the wife's, now my Cavalier in to check a fuel smell.... Its now my beater/yard car. Run 4 years now and I think it cost a grand total of $900 so far. Need a couple of more years out of it:lol_hitti

Next on the list is a ****** line leak on the Dodge 3500.

Is it the Jag? If so, did you eliminate all traces of Lucas' involvement?
Just kidding...

Tommy

No, the Jag doesn't go outside when it's snowing, raining, sleeting, hailing (it did all four today!).....it's her Audi Allroad. She does drive it on weekends but again, not very far - certainly not far enough to keep it charged up apparently
