Why put an emblem on it its not? Like people putting corvette and ss on it when its not a corvette and has a v6.

What cart drawer did you toss in the botttom of it? I had thought about doing that with my 4 drwer. Found one at hf a while back with bent frame for 50 bucks. Should have got it for the drawers

My snappy guy asked how much for my 4drawer, with my added drawer.
He wanted it for what ever reason. Offered me what i paid.

The mod I wanted to do won't work due to the shallow top of the black cart especially
I had wanted to drill through the brace that supports the bottom of the box so I can store long screw drivers extensions and pry bars but even On the red one the lid won't close with pry bars
The black cart won't even hold mid size hands screw drivers
Bad design!

Not bad prob why itts cheap. An 800 dollar cart will probbly hold prybars.

I used a Sunex prybar holder for the larger handles.

Planning on doing the same as this post earlier in this thread to fit my Craftsman Pro & Sk screwdrivers in my 4 drawer:

As I was building it one of my coworkers came by and said iknowwht this needs and he gave me that emblem. We just thought it would be funny cause it's obviously not a snap on. Oh the bottom I think is a very old harbor freight box.it is the same dementions as the five drawer.

Don't worry, some folks get worked up about it. I have a Snappy badge on my 4-drawer for my own liking. Snap-On dealer didn't even notice it wasn't the real deal, same with everyone in the shop.

I totally don't understand why people put Snap-On emblems on these boxes.. It makes zero sense to me..

Is it the need to have others THINK you have a Snap-On box? Every time I looked at my box with a fake logo on it, I'd just be staring a lie in the face and that'd drive me nuts.. That and if it'll come off, I debadge everything I have..

Let me reiterate. In my previous post I stated exacly why the stinking logo was their. And we all got a good laugh out of it. If I was actually trying to pass it off as a snap I would feel like a liar but I am not so get with the program and read all posts before trying to judge. We don't really know each other on here and its just silly to try and manipulate others for our own entertainment. I was just showing my mods I made.

I came into a 5dwr HF cart that the PO had ripped the badge off and tossed it.

Buying a replacement badge from HF was a no-go and I even found a GJer who sent me one. Sadly it was from the 4dwr cart, so no-go again. And I was out $5 from shipping.

Cut a MAC tools logo to cover the holes that the HF badge filled (which is FAR worse to look at than anything that covered the holes) and the cart now sits in new shop with a new user well aware it is far from a MAC cart. Likely the same factory, but far lower sale price point.

Sadly, I don't stare at my toolboxes. And at home I have a Kobalt roll cab with a C'man badge because yet another co-worker decided to de-badge and leave the holes. And then sell it for pennies.

It's just a tool box.

I think TerryH's long handle mod there is probably one of the cleanest ones in this thread. I've gotta get around to dismounting my side cab and try to do something similar on mine.

No reason to get all ****-hurt man, stand by your decisions.

I judged no one.. If you're not passing it off as a Snap-On, that's cool..

I asked a simple question, why do people do it.

If you had a great reason and got a bunch of laughs, congrats. I don't get it and I never will, if it makes sense to you, rock it man.

Shame on those who put "Ferrari" stickers on when their box is obviously not one. Or those who put "Hawaii" stickers while living elsewhere. Who are they fooling? ;-)

Can you really not see the difference between your statements and badging an item something it isn't?

You're right, though. I should run out and throw an "STI" sticker on my WRX. Maybe I should throw a LS6 sticker on my LS1 equipped Trans Am. Perhaps I should go throw a Z71 sticker on my Bronco, I mean, they're all just stickers.. Right? :3gears:

No your right dude I just thought I would get more responses on the actual box but just the sticker. Then I took it overboard like I have a tendency to do. In a separate not I get worked up when I look at eBay and see the harbor freight boxes with snap on logos that they are trying to sell for big money I wanna call them and ask if they realize that they are screwing ppl.

Well, for what it's worth, it is a nice box and I'm envious, as I don't have one and I would like to pick one up.. :)

Since I use the tools in my cart for 98% of the jobs I do, I added a second story. I've had the Craftsman box for almost 20 years so I put it back into service. The 3 leg support frame is 1/2" square tube and the corner braces are 1/4" round stock. It's actually very stable. I never installed the gas struts because I wanted to flip the lid over backwards. There are magnet bars that hold some long ratchet wrenches and serp belt tools. In the cart's top tray is a lift-out board (see the T-handles?) that has some socket rails screwed to it. An old toolbox top tray has commonly used ratchets laying in it. So, if I have a job at home, I can just lift out the tray and have all my sockets, ratchets, and extensions portable. If I have a bigger job, the whole rig breaks down and fits in the back of my car.

Are you absolutely positive that they are HF carts? My coworker has an old SnapOn cart that is VERY similar to the HF carts (probably the other way around, actually). Not saying that there aren't shady sellers out there, just want to mention that The HF cart is a really close copy of an older SO cart and some of those ebay carts may be legit.

It means you use those tools.. You have obviously not attempted to re-brand your box as something else.. That was my point..

Yeah I would never do that...only someone who knew nothing about tools would be fooled...if I had a random snappy badge laying around it would be on eBay they're like 30 bucks

This whole debate is stupid.
Plenty of people do with other badges. But ow god, its a SO badge grrr.

Unless it's trying to be passed off as one, who cares.

My oil drainer has a bunch of stickers on it including a big Center Line wheel sticker. The drainer has wheels on it so the value just doubled.

Folks, can we get back on track? I'm looking to get a cart and this thread has been really valuable.

Before I came to the thread I was pretty much set on the black cart for $99 but, now, the red cart looks like it may be the set-up for me (both aesthetically and functionally). However, I'm still on the fence.
