Folks, can we get back on track? I'm looking to get a cart and this thread has been really valuable.

Before I came to the thread I was pretty much set on the black cart for $99 but, now, the red cart looks like it may be the set-up for me (both aesthetically and functionally). However, I'm still on the fence.

Get the red would be my advise.. That's what I'll be buying..

Then again there's a choice, and reasons behind them.
Do you need the room of the 5 drawer? Is the weight rating the reason you're getting it?
There close, but have diffrent uses after all. So choices go with needs.

Last week I bought the black box, after I put it together, 99 bucks with a 20%discount. Enough about that. I like it because it fill a need for a movable box. Large wheels help.

Blake 150 where did you get the extra drawers?

A car I bought of a co-worker when I first started. I think it's an ancient harbor freight cause the dimensions are identical

What, in particular, are the reasons you like that one better?

Have you felt both of them in the store?

To me the Red boxes feel much more sturdy and the drawer slides feel much nicer as well. The red also is made of thicker metal. Plus lets face it being on this forum you will fill it up soon anyway.

The only way I would get the Black box is if I HAD to have something that size due to a bigger box not fitting.

Quick question: The Snap-On KRBC8T9 hinges for $10.30, does that include both? It's described as if there's only one. Just want to be sure when placing an order.

I like the idea of filling in the open space with more drawers. Can you share any details on where you got the drawers and how you were able to get them in there?

Thanks

I actually used 3 harbor freight red carts. I took the drawers I wanted from the 3 and put them in 1. I used one with no drawers for 2 welders and I sold the last with the leftover drawers for what i paid for it.

So, I got a bit more work done yesterday.

Getting it scuffed and taped....

Then painting, more painting, taping, and more painting and some assembly later.....I got to this:

It's gonna be a busy week of work, so I'm not sure when I'll be able to get the draws done.

Overall, I am very pleased with how it is turning out.

And....

Tired of sanding.

Nope.

I'm going green on the faces with the edge guards black.

I'll likely do the insides black as well.

Gareth68,

What exactly did you use for the black top surface? If you could specify a name or brand. It looks like some sort of bed liner material. I'd like to paint a different surface like that and am curious if it is oil/solvent resistant. If you mentioned this already, I missed it.

I think your cart looks great by the way! Nice job.

It is Duplicolor....hadn't thought about the solvent resistance....DOH!!

Looking online it doesn't appear it is....hurculiner, however, states it is resistant to such things.

I guess I'll see what happens.

If and when I damage it, I'll redo it...likely with a product that is more resistant.

Though, I don't really plan to use the top as a major work surface.

I have a bench to walk over to for that.

Ahh well, hindsight and all that.

Tht duplicolor bed spray peels bad once it I schipped or knicked. Vht wrinkle black is some nassty paint. Sspray in ssun heavy or use a heat gun. Makes the crinkles really tight with heat. Pretty durable too.

Wow love this thread, anyone using the sunnex screwdriver/pry bar holder on the red cart? Thinking of going this route or the aluminum angle piece mod someone did earlier, tired of not be able to close the top.

Also what is the best paint match spray paint for the red carts?

Cut the lip off the prybar rack, and bolt it on. Lid will close all the way.

I think he means his cart top isn't closing because his prybars are to tall...but your right you do need to cut the lip of the holder to get it to fit right...and drill new holes
