Yes, I warrantied a Mac 100 tooth ratchet because the logo wore off on the handle. My dealer said it would not come off with Simple Green, but it did. So I make sure to clean my Mac handles with F21 Super Protectant only.

I can't read the entire 47 pages, but am wondering if there is there a summary or conclusion post-mortem written by MechanicNamedJohn about his HF collection and/or why he switch away from it?

This might sound like a dumb question, those trays that sit on the shoulders in the macsimizer drawers in his video. Are those only a Mac thing? or only a Macsimizer thing?

Probably not... At least not as much as I had. I would certainly travel that far for one of their boxes or service carts.

not all my tools are HF, but a majority of them are. 2 years and 7 months of daily use, and my cart isn't beat up. it shows its used, but not terribly. I use the HF impacts on my cornwell guns, and no issues, no brokens. only ever broke a few wheel sockets, and that was using torque sticks. the most recent was a cornwell that broke.

this thread is cool. I like to see the HF love. so many on this forum are haters, and I think its just jealousy really. I mean, if I spent that much on my tools id hate too. not that I haven't spent some serious cash, just not as much as most. here's the 'impact drawer' as I call it and the cart and 26" box. all used 5 days a week, 40 plus hours. no broken HF impact sockets in either 3/8 or 1/2, no broken HF extensions, or torque sticks. and those are the blue power cornwell 3/8 and 1/2 guns.

lets not forget that HF is one of the few places that lifetime warranties impact sockets.

You don't seem like the kind of guy to waste money, but I'd be curious to hear your size up on the current production 72" HF US General Pro box compared to your Mac Maximizer...any chance you have the need for more storage in your shop and would be willing to drop $1000 on one using the current $999.99 deal?

John....I'm pretty **** about how my tools get cleaned up and put back where they belong, but, you make me look like a slob!

Even though I'm not a betting man, I would wager a weeks pay that you could go in blindfolded and put your fingers on an 11/32" deep 6 point socket....INSTANTLY!

All the HF breaker bars use a screw so you just match them up with a flex in the store, remove the ratchet head from the handle and simply put it on the breaker handle.

Fair warning the ratchet heads don't stand up to the abuse real well.

i know this but the clearance wouldnt be as good and i think the one he made locks the socket onto the ratchet. plus its custom and thats what im all about

Those are the same ratchets that I made the extra link from those Kobalt 3/8 flex ratchets. If it turns out not to work please update. I have not done this one myself so I can't say 100%.

i think your right i havent seen any other flex head ratchets at my local hf so its a shot im going to have to take ill post back up and let everyone know how it turns out

use the parts breakdown with the locker and just call HF service tell them you want the number of the shelf from the breakdown and the number of the locker. should be pretty cheap..

I had the 3/8" one, it was great until it broke, but I was taking off some really rusted 14mm exhaust bolts when that happened. Will probably buy another one.

For my first post on GJ, I'll just say what a great thread! I learned a lot. I'm a HF guy, as I wrench only to fix or mod our two vehicles. I'll never be able to really justify anything more expensive, but they work just fine for what I need.

John, I think about how much those tools helped you advance. You'd still be in debt up to your eyeballs if you pulled the trigger on truck brand stuff at the time you loaded up on HF. That right there is support/justification enough.
