Waited for snow to melt by staying home and playing golf with client. Also avoided entertaining SIL who was visiting Mrs Outlander at the cottage. I mean, I sometimes just want to walk around in my underwear, ya know?

Trying to recondition the rims on my Bobcat skidsteer. A couple tires keep going flat for various reasons, corrosion on the inside being the worst. Trying to get by another year without buying new tires and rims. Seems like everything I own needs new tires.

Continued the winter maintenance on the big KTM.
Started the water pump seal replacement (last of a long list of winter work) and realized that my next gift to myself is going to be a motorcycle lift....

I FOUND MY WORK BENCH!!!!!!!!! And a whole lotta floor that I haven't seen in a year and a half. It's been nothing short of a nightmare cleaning up and organizing his dad's 80 years of packrat-ness in the meantime -- and I'm sooooooooooo tired LOL -- but I can finally see some concrete at the end of the tunnel now.

From December of 2012, this is one of the first loads of stuff from his parents' house and a fairly accurate depiction of how the shop has looked ever since.

View attachment 338329

And nowwwww ... [drum roll please] ........ kindly excuse my man being a ****. :D "Oh they won't see me here." Uh huh, that's right baby. You're only 6'5 and 300 pounds -- you'll blend right in.

View attachment 338330

The wood / pegboard-backed shelf units, part of my work bench originally, have now been repurposed and actually hold things I'll use. This is facing my side of the shop; look, I even hung up my Mopar signs!!!

View attachment 338331

And the fronts have been faced towards Billy's side of the shop so he's got places to stash his Chevy II's parts, motors, and seemingly endless supply of leftover SBC internals:

View attachment 338339

He's got some room to move now too (though he hasn't moved in to his new bench against the back wall yet) ...

View attachment 338340

Instead of sitting here on my azz updating the GJ, I should be out there ripping plywood for my 8 x 5 METAL SHELF UNIT ($25 -- what a score!! and there's another one for the Garage Mahal in the basement wooooo) which will get those last few customers' boxes off the floor and give me a little breathing room at my bench ...

View attachment 338341

... but truth be told, I'm just kinda enjoying the afterglow and the fact I'll finally be able to get back to work again with full concentration and without the remnants of someone else's life hanging over my head. It's a whole new day ladies and gentlemen! Then again, I may just go collapse now. :D

Yesterday and today......started mocking up my new wilwood proportioning valve, relocated my line lock solenoid, and started dropping helicoils into my intake manifold bolt holes in my cylinder heads. Talk about hair raising doing it on car, even going SLOW I'm still pitching chips around.

Line lock solenoid mounted on the clutch reservoir bracket:

Proportioning valve (temp bracket made from an old license plate):

Helicoil action. I've since covered EVERYTHING except the bolt hole I'm working on:

Nice new threads. Don't know what it was but the first time I removed the intake manifold from this motor about half the bolts pulled threads from the Trick Flow heads with them when they came out.

We're not too far apart on the map either; probably the same UPS shipping zone. Did you scroll down to the section on the Work Samples page about Miscellaneous Metals? Quite a few have Powder **** hanging on their walls too. :D Thanks again!

Pushed my 1972 Starcraft Starlite pop up trailer in the garage last weekend. It needs all new lift cables mainly, but I want to remove all the lift arms and clean and lube them, and check their internal cables and pulleys. I have to replace all the exterior pulleys and fab a new rear crossmember... Was under it this morning loosening rusted bolts, applying more penetrant, and will crawl back under after the Talladega race...

I changed the brake fluid in the Yukon, added a new DryerDock, and replaced the old outside dryer vent with a Heartland model. Now I am sitting outside watching the kids swim. It is a good day!

Had a busy day today.

Fired up the mower and weedeater for the first time this season.
Cleaned up and fired up my $10 yard sale chainsaw (Like new Poulan 14")
Changed the oil in the JK
Installed my homemade security box in the trunk of the JK
Organized the garage a little bit

Now enjoying some bourbon watching the Cubbies play.

Bolted the gantry crane together and fitted the gantry trolley and chainfall. Needs a little tweak to drop the beam height by 4” to just below truss level so I can use it the full length of the workshop. For now it is usable. Fixed the milling machine drive belt tensioning. Moved all the machines around to make room for the next projects. Fixed a wall socket so I could do some TIG welding. Made and fitted a shelf for the shop radio and drill battery chargers. More importantly, put my old 14” belt drive abrasive saw and some other spare equipment up for sale after which I liberated a beer from its bottle while admiring my efforts. Going to be very stiff tomorrow.

Messed around in the garage some working on a couple of lawn mowers and loaded up the ole "gator" with the mulch and landscape timbers and corresponding tools and supplies that I bought this evening for tomorrows after-work-project....

I always participate in the subdivision garage sale coming up in a couple of weeks with a tool sale. So all yesterday I was sorting through my toolboxes pulling out doubles and triples of stuff and consolidating drawers. I actually have an empty drawer in my main toolbox that I'm trying figure out what to put there. I have an extra toolbox set I'm trying to free up for the sale so I have to get back to it today.

A garage sale by Rickster, I bet that is a sight. What tool box are you selling?

 New toy for the "Toy Box". Moved new compressor in my shop yesterday, still need to get vibration isolators for the feet and get wired and plumbed in. The old one was getting tired and needs a rebuild and will be retired to airing up the occasional tire.

Added another circuit for my IS lights. Not that it needed it, just planning for a possible future expansion, along with keeping amperage low. Later this week, I plan to add another 20A as well, for a dedicated compressor line. Then the electric feeds will be complete.

Removed the snow tires from my wife's Ford Focus and put on street tires. Those snow tires made the Focus handle much better during our Chicago winter. Driving confidence level went way up when snow and ice threatened.

Organized some tools and put aways those sitting on top of the bench. Took some of the least used tools to the storage locker.

Had visitors most of the weekend but I did get some more drawers labelled and some stuff put away on saturday before they got here and then today I had to drag the floor jack out and change the front wheel on the wifes Nissan as I found it had a puncture and was totally flat when I jumped in it last night to go and collect our indian takeaway. Whilst I was at it I pulled all of the other wheels and power-washed the backside of them as we'd been getting some vibration at 70mph and last time this happened it was accumulated mud on the backs putting the wheels out of balance. The shape is such the back of the spokes are hollow and mud builds up (we live out in the sticks so roads are always muddy) Put the stupid spacesaver on and tomorrow we'll egt it fixed, it probably needs two new tyres as well as two others are pretty bald but as its a company car they are pretty tight-fisted about only replacing them when they hit the legal minimum. I also washed both cars, and gave the timber battens that the new greenhouse will sit on a good coat of creosote.

I found a spot for the Powermatic. My buddy got the Clausen. Both run, but they are a little rough around the edges...maybe need a bearing or two. Price? How's about $250 for both?

Why did I let the Clausen go to my buddy? Well, he just built a nice shop and does things like this in his spare time:

I'll get around to making it purr after I finish a ton of other projects.

I made a mould of an a-pillar.

I'm trying to add efficiency to my custom a-pillar fabrication. Currently I have a part mould to help fabricate these,

This one had some real carbon fibre added to it for aesthetic reasons,

This is how they looks in the vehicle,

That is very cool and interesting work, is this your business?

Oh wow, we have GOT to talk some time. I'd love another A pillar gauge pod for my Cuda. Modded one up from an aftermarket setup for a Fox body Mustang a few years ago and set it on the bench for the JB Weld to set up. It somehow ended up on the floor ... and then I backed the car out and ran over it. I was so pissed off at myself I haven't bothered to try to do it again. :D

Finally started on my home garage nut, bolt and fasteners storage. I have to wait to fix the drive belts on the table saw before I can finish the cabinet and make the doors.

I did a partial carb job on a used rototiller that I bought last year - first time doing something like that. It wouldn't stay running under load and this spring it wouldn't even start. With a can of carb cleaner, a carb kit, some tips from the guy at the small-engine shop where I bought the carb kit, and some YouTube videos, I got it running again. Haven't tried using it yet - still waiting for spring to fully arrive here in Regina, Sask. My garden still hasn't dried out from the snow and it's still cold and threatening rain (maybe snow).

Last night I serviced the Jeep and rotated the tires. Wind was blowing like hell so then had to sweep all of the **** out of the shop that the wind blew in.
