Small local flea market finally up and running this year. Picked up these Craftsman vice grips. Doesn't state made in USA..Has an "I" in a circle after the word Craftsman. Curious as the the age. Anyone know when they started adding the easy release lever? A little scuffed up, but doesn't appear they have seen much use.. 5 dollars :dunno:

$5 at an estate sale last week:
DSCN2710_zps99b3f0dc.jpg

A fist full of Craftsman combos, a Williams combo and a metal 6" ruler.

Then I found this (I added the googly eyes. Just because...)
DSCN2711_zpscd74adb7.jpg

A first generation Roomba floor vacuum. $15 with two battery packs and two virtual walls (units for open doorways and passages to keep the Roomba to one room.) The woman selling it said it worked when they put it away. Of course when I got home, the batteries were stone dead. New battery packs are $50. I was getting ready to order sub-C cells to rebuild one for about $25, when I found brand new OEM battery packs on clearance for only $18. Score! Battery arrived the other day, and they thing works perfectly! Now I have to name it.

I didn't pull the trigger on a Dazor lamp with magnifier for $50.00. It was gone when I went past the booth later. I didn't have the cash on me and I don't REALLY need it. It's still bothers me though . . .

Pics!

The two tubros, both need be to rebuilt... but for slightly, and i mean slightly, more than the price of scrap, I couldn't lose. Believe they're for 90's eclipse gst.

real old Dunlap socket set with case, nearly complete.

Wrench Mania! Haggling with old russian brothers who speak broken english at 8am when you haven't finished your coffee yet is a challenge. But, I gave them $72 for the lot, which is a lot, but better than the $4 wrench / $10 ratchet they initially wanted. Most of the CMan is =v= with a few -v- mixed in, model numbers only on 2 of the ratchets :) Oh, and theres a bunch of =V= metric in there, which is very hard to find I believe.

Oh, and the one rat:

;)

Yeah I should probably scrap them so they can be shipped across the big pond to be made in to HF tools...

NOT!

Sorry, going to have to ask: how did it ruin the canvas? I've machine washed canvas before with no issues... As long as it's not isn't the throes of rotting away, it should be fine? :dunno:

So I was genius enough to was a WW2 shelter half in the washing machine without thinking about it:mad: It left all these wrinkle marks where the shelter had rubbed all over the inside of the washing machine. It has a permanent acid wash pattern to it:sad: I think in the military items I have seen that are made of canvas the cleaning directions say hand wash at the most but no machine wash?? I am not trying to claim to be a canvas expert, just want to save someone from ruining something like I did:D

I LOVE those long Cman #2's. Only have one that I have found so far. Would love to get lucky enough to find the whole set!

There were the three #2s of different vintages, also two #1s as well. There were also two that were different sizes but not marked with a number. Either the guy inherited a set or couldn't find the old one and had to buy another. That's never happened! :D

Was at a trade show this weekend, only got a chance to go to a few garage sales on late Sunday, but I still rocked it:

pics 1-3: all for $10
- Lot of 13 C-clamps, 3 made by Wilton, 1 by Armstrong, 1 by Vulcan Tools, and 8 misc old Craftsman. Sizes range from 4-inch to 1-inch, various sizes. I needed some C-clamps so these are welcome.

pic 4: all for $7
- Armstrong offset double box, 3/4 by 7/8
- Proto 202 slip joint pliers
- outlet electrical tester, brand new by Ericson
- old large Yale lock, no keys. Have a pile of old Yale keys, going to see if there's a off chance that one of them fits
- old RCA phono plug

I have 3 complete sets. Progressive/Tempo, Aines, and Fluke. Oddly enough I've never really needed to use more than one at a time in the field.

I usually need one when I don't have it. I think I have decided this one gets to live in the car.

Forgive my ignorance but what are these for? I found one just like yours in an intersection years ago. It seems to work but what does it do? From looking at it I'd guess it is for tracing phone circuits but otherwise I'm at a loss.:dunno:

We called them "sniffers" in the cable industry, they are for finding specific wires in a bundle. You clip the transmitter on the known end and use the sniffer to sniff out the other end in a group of unmarked wires.

Thanks Nine4, I figured it was something like that but wasn't sure.

AE2- Awesome score with the Toner!

Didn't have too much time for sales this weekend but managed to find a couple. One of them will be there all summer, so I'll be back to dig next weekend.

1st sale-6 made in USA wrenches (4$) no markings besides drop forged and made in usa I'm going to clean them up and use them for cabinet door handles in my garage.

2nd sale- leather wrapped Lufkin 50ft metal tape measure (1$) It's in pretty good shape. The numbers are embossed not printed. It's nice and compact so I think I'm going to keep it in my truck.

On my lunch break today I was looking at the local ads and came across a listing for a roller combo at a very attractive price. The listing wasn’t at all descriptive of the boxes and the photos weren't helpful either although I could see that the boxes were 26” and the locks had been replaced with hasps. The listing did say that whatever was in the boxes went with them and it was close to home so I made the call. The seller couldn’t tell me anything more about the boxes but agreed to hold them until I could come round after work and look at them. When I arrived I saw that the boxes were of a very inexpensive non-descript type but I bought them anyway for the contents.

The photos show what I culled from the boxes although some of it will likely go into my garage sale pile for this weekend along with the boxes themselves and the 18 or so non-USA combo wrenches and the screwdrivers, sockets and hex keys I left in them. There is also a drawer full of hardware and fasteners to sort through tomorrow.

First photo: brand new ball mount kit with ball, Arrow T55 staple gun and box of staples, 6”, 10” and 14” pipe wrenches, the 6” with tag is a brand new Ridgid, 4 ½” and 6” Kant Twist clamps, and a 4” adjustable clamp.

Second photo: Electrical wire and associated tape, nuts and splices, Simonds hack saw blade, spring clamps, Amp Inc service tool, Dremel brushes, Husky USA #3 phillips, Proto Pro punch, Craftsman alignment tool, Husky USA Torx driver, Phoenix Contact screw driver, Valorbe file, USA marked combo square, Ridgid #15 tubing cutter, chalk line, Eklind #5 hex key set, Osborn internal brush set, 2” Adjustable clamp, 100 pack of Stanley blades, box cutter, 12” Billings Vitalloy adjustable wrench, wrenches by Proto, CMan and others, stainless steel brush, Fuller chisel in need of a cleaning and sharpening, drywall saw and a 6” Starrett rule.

Third photo: box of peg board accessories, two Weller soldering irons and a half spool of Silvabrite solder.

The seller is moving and just wanted everything gone, I paid $30.

My weekend tool box find has already slipped down a few pages, but here are more details:

zkling, the piano hinge for the lid is full-width. I didn't think to look at the one for the front cover.

This photo shows the top compartment and the underside of the lid (front cover moved out of the way. Notice the black textured finish, the blue where it was scraped away, and where the light blue-gray was sprayed over part of it:

Here is a close-up of the label. Decal or paint, I'd be surprised if it could be saved. There are traces of gold visible, if that helps anyone:

Finally, a worn spot on the front cover with the layers visible:

Up next: the other stuff I bought there

That is a cool box. I couldn't find the catalog scan I have of it. So many files. I think this is the correct emblem it should have on the front. I have a smaller late 30's two drawer that needs the same emblem.
