Went down to my buddy's body shop. Matco guy was there. Picked up the master steering wheel set and a couple more snap ring pliers.

I had the Proto branded version of those snap ring pliers and they were absolute garbage. Not only were the tip inserts junk, but the way they clamp into the pliers is junk. I literally left a project and drove 10mi to a NAPA and bought a different pair to finish the job. I think Cripe is selling the pair I bought for $17 and they have been great.

Supposedly SK makes these and doesn't rebrand. That was my motivation for getting them. I too have experienced crappy ones. For the amount I use them I don't need a huge set. Prior to these I was doing everything with a channellock set.

While I am here I thought I would show this FHBF80. It makes working from the top down on many things easier.

The airlift is pretty sweet. Actually used mine today on 2 trucks that didn't want to play nice after cooling system work.

That OTC ball joint press is a good one! I bought mine in 1984 for home job and have been using it about once a week at work for nearly 20 years since I went to work wrenching for a living.....kinda makes up for paying and exorbitant auto parts store amount for it in the last-minute-gotta-have-it-now situation around 250 / 300 bucks in 84:lol_hitti

I've also considered buying a secondary Dewalt Charger for my 18V stuff and I have said many times that if my impact driver died today, I'd buy another tomorrow. Now that Dewalt is trying to focus on the 20V, that might not be an option in the very near future. So I stopped by Lowes and was checking out bare tools and found an impact driver for $99. Sitting beside it on the shelf was that same driver in a set with a 1/2" drill, 2 batteries, charger and bag for $149. (original $199)They had two left and I bought them both, thinking one of the guys might like one for that price. What I thought were Li-ion batteries are compact 18V, not what I thought, darn. Still for the price I might as well keep one and maybe take the other back.

My Northern Tool Stubby SAE set (the one that went up to 1") was missing the 7/8. I found some Craftsman industrial 22mm stubbies on ebay.

are they extra long >? at one point the extra long didn't come in FD+

There is no extra long.

Snap-On has stubby, short, regular, and long. His are regular length. FD+ was made in long length for a short period however it was only certain sizes, they never sold a 10-19 set of them.

edit: I stand corrected, looks like they have SOEXL wrenches again and in all sizes. I must buy them! Curse you snap-on!

first real set of pliers, night and day difference between the Craftsman Professional pliers I was used to. I could have bought a Knipex set for almost 1/3 the price but after breaking Craftsman Pro needlenose and the grips coming off every time I tried to pull something, I splurged out of frustration. I tested the talon grip and pulled a nail right out of a stud with them.

this was free, it was all I could do to carry it out to my pickup.

Brushes are tools too!
I've wanted to try my hand at pinstriping for a few weeks, finally got around to ordering some brushes and paints from TCP global that came in last night. just some primary colors, ( ordered individuals and saved some money over the same 5cans they sell in a kit) and a few brushes.

Lush fields..rolling hills..green....OH WAIT..Las
Just some stuff so I can fill up the piler rack I just purchased. Kinda like how a empty peg on a hanson tray can become a obsession to fill every spot. OCD hehehe.

Oh yeah one of my boy hooked it up. The dewalt drill is brand spanking new out of the box. Too bad its 18V and I need to get battery and charger as I have no dewalt stuff expect for 3 stackable tool boxes but considering it was $10, no complaints here lol.

NOS Snap On mini pry bar of sorts. One side is marked with part numbers that remind me of old IBM part numbers used on their technician tools way back in the day.

This was definitely custom made for some one. They used a SSDE44B screwdriver as that number is blacked out.

Got this on eBay on a whim simply because I've got some tools SO did for IBM years ago.

Yeah those MC sets come in uber handy.

Latest purchase: SO 1/4 Deep metric.

The final set required. Still need a 4mm thou to finsh the 1/4 deep and a slack hand full of loose sockets to finish the bed.

Stopped in at Lowes. Wanted a 1/4 flex ratchet for a while, and got my first pair of Knipex. I'm usually a Channellock guy but the hype got me curious.

Yo Stovebolt, those Knipex Cobras, are those NOS at Lowes or did it look like Lowes was starting to carry them again?

Have they stopped? There were only three pairs of these Cobras amongst like a billion of the 10" Alligators. But the hook and tag was there for the Cobras.

So yes since these were new in package I suppose they would have been NOS (if in fact they stopped carrying them).

They stopped carrying them in the States, don't know how much longer Canadian Lowes is going to keep them in stock.

That 7" Cobra is thinner, grips tighter and opens wider than the 10" Channellock.

I was under the impression that Lowes had phased out Knipex and other quality brands in favor of Southwire labeled products...but I hope it means Knipex is back at Lowes, I will swing by my local Lowes in a few days and check it out, because I need some good pliers now and I've never been the biggest fan of normal Channellock style pliers.

Interesting. I'll have to keep my eye on the stock. They're still on the lowes Canada website. Also those ones I got are 10". Want to pick up the 7s soon.
