Thats a beautiful area!!! This property is in Dripping Springs and it's a fun drive to get there!

Subscribed.
My wife and I are wanting to do the same. We’ve started looking for property and hopefully when my son finally graduates college we’ll be able to start on ours. There are several here in the area, but we’re wanting to move away, far away from the Houston area.
Good Luck with the build.

Good luck to you and your wife!!! So far it's been the best decision we've made!

Looks like a great start. We're in Dallas, but really love that area down there.

It is a nice area. The sky alone is worth it!

So I was out of town all week and a lot of progress has happened. Luckily my wife was able to see the building being delivered and most of the work up until today.

Building was delivered on Monday afternoon and this is where it's at as of this afternoon (Friday).

I have a cousin n the Dripping Springs area who is a builder, but he's not the kind of builder you have. Looks like a great place. It's amazing how well that color usually blends into the landscape around that area. Looks like you'll have plenty of room to play.

Cool color is it that rusted brown? Love the building

Wife picked the brown to blend in with the trees. She wants to keep this large building as hidden as possible lol

who supplied the steel? is that a Mueller bldg.? looking good. two stories in the house and shop?

jim

It's an ICON building, House will be 2 stories and shop just all open (for now)

My wife wanted it to blend in with the surrounding. I think she did a great job on the color.

That is a beautiful piece of land. The wife and I are in the same boat as you, we don't fit in with the normal soccer, minivans, malls, gyms, group. Hell, we do miss our neighbor that just sold his house near us, we talked to him three times in the last 5 years - First time was checking out the area, second was hello neighbor, and third was bye neighbor.

I am going to follow this thread. This looks like it is going to a great place that is truly you and yours'.

Your kids are never going to want to leave home, and that's a good thing!!

Went by there today, they still have some work to do. Plan to talk with my GC on Monday about some issues I have and hope they wrap it up this coming week so the framing can happen on the house portion.

Here are some pics!

Great build. What brand are your roll up doors? I like the naked metal look (as opposed to painted).

Just for future reference. When the Assessor for your property tax comes to visit you do not have to let them in the building. The way they figure property tax is to take livable space, figure the square footage, and multiply it by average sales per sq ft of nearby residences. I am sure you already know this but I can see where the tax guys would have a field day with your square footage.
