Std .30 and .50 Cal. Ammo cans don't come with locks/hasps. Some of the wood boxes had lock hasps on them, depending on use.

I have modified one ammo can latch handle to take a small "U" bolt I added to the can, and leave a place to hang a lock. Great security? Not really, the "U" bolt material is pretty soft. but it will meet a "you have to have a lockable box for this" requirement. Not to mention the box itself can be walked off with easily.

94 Gmc-massive suckage on the plumb box and contents for a dollar. You couldn't even get a harbor freight set for that let alone the quality and the patina for that much. Well played!

I was thinking wooden box of some sort. I was thinking more of a footlocker deal but the guy was like, "This came off a ammo box!" I was little skeptical but the other locks looked cool and thought why not, I could use it for something if a certain person didn't want it! But I did pay a little more then I would normally pay.

Those brass padlocks are what we used to lock everything with when I was in the Army, from toolboxes to the motorpool gate, everything had one.

We still use some that have "SET" stamped on them, come in cases of 12 or so locks all keyed alike.

madison, those are some great padlocks! HINT HINT

I have several different variations of the US Set padlocks, most are made by American Lock.

The wrenches on the left and two sockets were from trading with Andy. I've got a mostly complete Armstrong SAE large set now.

Not organized real well, but I have $3 in the Fleet ratchet, the two pairs of pliers under it (both snap-on), the bluepoint plastic hammer, the missing 8 mm Blackhawk socket from Friday's haul, and the three swivel cornwell sockets at the top. Everything else ran me $21 - SK screw drivers, 15" Crescent adjustable, BS-52 1/2" ratchet, SK SAE wrenches, two Proto metric wrenches, the vise grips and the little 4" crescent adjustable. The majority of the other sockets were all SK, I had three metric Protos and one snap-on.

I ALMOST always ask for a deal, most of the time, prices are just "asking price". Worst they can say is no, if it's still a good deal I buy, if not I pass and let the next sucker pay more or they can pack it back up and keep it. Can't tell you how many times I have packed my **** back in cause people didn't want to pay, almost as many times as people have asked for a deal and we settle. No harm, no foul

That saw I picked up today was marked $10, I bought the ramps at the $10 asking price and asked if they would throw the saw in for $5, lady was happy to sell and I could see her old man was happy he didn't have to put that **** back in the garage, WIN-WIN. The timing light was from another sale, no price marked so I asked, the man said $10, I went $5 and we settled on $6 but all I had was a $10 and all he had was $3 singles, I ended up paying $7 and we were both happy. That's how the system works, this ain't walmart or sears, it's back yard dickering
Amen brother nine4gmc, that is how the game is played. One of my favorite things to do on a weekend is dicker and horse-trade! :rocker:

No serious yard-sailing for me and we held our own annual sale. I usually try to get the rest of the street to do a block sale, but got busy and didn't but we actually had 4 other homes that also planned yard sales today, so I stuck a quick Block sale (unplanned ) add in CL just for grins.

Still going on, I've pulled in 80 bucks or so so far...

I did a walk around and picked up a knife and a rifle scope from the neighbors. Pics later

Outlaw, how did you do on your own yard sale? Make some coin and reclaim some garage space?

What is frustration? Falling behind on the GJ sale thread! So much cool stuff! So much stuff I haven't had a chance to share! Anyway, going slightly back in time...

Labor Day weekend started out not so good when I discovered that our water heater was leaking. It was under warranty, but still had to pay the weekend rate for a service call... I really hoped that Sunday's flea market would help make up for it:

Complete (meaning, "even has the little bar for the breaker bar") Powr-Kraft 1/4" drive set (unfortunately, this was a little too valuable to stay in the collection...), Snap-On ignition and punch set rolls, orange SO screwdriver, short SO pry bar, SO 3/8" drive speeder, Matco hook, Plomb/Plvmb brake pliers, Walden flex-head ratchet, Plomb/Plvmb offset screwdriver, Craftsman and Diamond (with broached hanging hole!) adjustables, 2 Blackhawk socket wrenches, Diamond pliers, and a Kay-Dee valve spring compressor.

And the sockets from the same flea market:

The top 3 rows are Triangle-era Bonney, below that is an SO 3/8" drive set from 1/4"-7/8", next row is SK, after that is Penncraft, then onesies and twosies from Blackhawk, Indestro, Armstrong, Cman, etc. Oh, and the Craftsman =v= sliding T-handle I forgot to put in the last pic.

More to come...

I couple months back I picked up a 1930s Craftsman 3-drawer box. Realized I needed it out of the way and put it back on Craigslist. Finally sold it to a good home: Guy who makes and restores furniture. Also had a nice mid-week thrift store score of a $7 SK Wayne 1/4" set. They also had a Companion USA-made set. First time I'd seen an Open-Gear ratchet with a name other than an Indestro or Thorsen brand. Sockets looked like Indestro, too. Was a bit pricey, so I left it behind.

Anyway, got to the weekend and spent some time deciding on the best plan of attack for Saturday. First stop, Day 2 of an estate sale. Lots of classic power tools. Cool stuff, but priced like it. It didn't look like any of them had sold the first day. Found a few things in the hand tools:

The Snap-On Punch and Chisel set Roll contained just the Proto EZ-outs below it. The adjustable is a later Diamond, the extension is a 3/4" drive -v- Craftsman, the chrome socket is a Craftsman deep 1-1/16", below that are an SO 1/2"-drive and 2 3/4"-drive sockets, then an SO 3/4" drive flexing nut spinner welded to a 3/4" drive extension. To the right are 2 SO 1"-3/4" drive adapters. Much of the SO stuff above is in the "Loxocket" series. The pliers are, from left to right, 4 Diamond, 2 Kraueter, and 2 Utica 50-8 lineman's.

Stop 2, another 2nd day estate sale. This one advertised lots of tools to go with the model railroad and fishing stuff:

Snap-On allen wrench roll, 1 Indestro, 1 Craftsman Underline offset DBE, 3 Craftsman =V= DBEs, a Diamond 15" Ford wrench, Craftsman Push drill, =Craftsman= and Powr-Kraft snips, =Craftsman= punch, Artisan and Blackhawk short DBEs, Allen 3/8" universal, Wright spark plug socket, Cman 1/4" universal and deep socket, Proto screwdriver socket, =V= Craftsman 1/4" drive breaker bar and long extension, 1 large Thorsen socket, Craftsman circle-K (? have to look that one up) 1/2" drive universal, some Craftsman =V= sockets, including a 3/8-1/2 adapter, drag link, and most of a 1/2" drive set.

Final stop was a swap meet. I don't often find stuff at this small meet (it seems as much a social event for the vendors), but looking at old tools, cars, and car parts is usually a good use of one's time:

Craftsman molding set and an Ammco hone with extra parts and other stuff.

I'm reminded of the season and the upcoming cold weather by the full FM/Estate/Swap schedule of the next few weeks... Hopefully they'll produce some good stuff, too. And hopefully I'll actually be able to keep up with the thread!

PwrStroke, that is some serious suckage!

Heres a bit more from this morning!

PwrStroke that's a very nice deal on that plumb box!!!

I've yet to see a Plumb ratchet in the wild, just been wrenches.
I have picked up very few plomb ratchets at garage sales dont see many
there was hoards of people at this sale and they were passing up on all the good stuff. It was a sale where you wander through the house and everything was for sale so everyone was really focused on the glassware furniture and art. More tools for me!

Went to one last estate sale this morning it was Sunday only and got this for 10$!!!! works great and is in very good condition shields are in great condition too. only negative is someone cut off the lower rests/support brackets.
I have been searching for one of these for awhile this weekend was very lucrative.

Found this at a FM for $25. I can't figure out the two piece static jaw assembly. (posted to the vise thread)

The pin in the top of the static jaw pulls up (most times they are stuck from age and use), and the back jaw swivels to allow you to clamp down on non-square items.

Oh, and YOU **** for $25 for that!

Very nice find! That's a old one it has the 1908 patent and the 1910 one is pending so that puts your vise at around 103-106 years old. Pretty crazy on how something that old is still perfectly useable.

2 Flea markets this morning. I scored big today, I also spent big today (for me anyway). I paid out a total of $61. Much more than my quota, but the prices were right.

The first FM only had 1 seller that interested me. He wanted a total of $55, but we finally agreed on $40. (Pics 1 - 6)

Pics 1 - 3
A Craftsman Crown Top shorty toolbox (1950's). Filled with : :D

_____a full 10pc set of 1/2"dr Whitworth sockets
_____a sm. file
_____3 - Cman DBE Whitworth wrenches (3 of 4 in the set)
_____2 - Cman DOE Whitworth wrenches (2 of 4 in the set)
All =V= series :bounce:
and
_____2 - King **** #A1692 1/4W–5/16BS wrenches
I finally own a King **** ! (that just doesn't sound right :headscrat )

Pic 4
The same seller also had a 80's Craftsman 5-drawer roller (no key). It's a bit rusty at the bottom and the drawers need a little attention from a body hammer, but the drawers all slide easily. (The original owner put the casters on front to back instead of left to right, so moving it around is difficult. That will have to change.)

Pic 5
the free stuff hidden under the drawers - some 220 grit sandpaper, nuts & screws, 2 Craftsman metric sockets, 1 from japan, and an empty pouch from an Elkind hex key set. (still no key)

Pic - 6
I also got the seller to throw in 3 sockets for free in the bundle.
_____Craftsman 1/2"dr 32mm -V-
_____Craftsman 1/2"dr 27mm Deep -V-
_____Craftsman 1/2"dr 22mm Deep -V-

Then it was off to the other FM. From 3 sellers, $21 total (asking $28) :

Pic 7
a "MODERN (MILW, WIS)" model #M743 clamp-on vise. 2" jaws, and 2" table clamp. (he wanted $25, paid $18)
Craftsman 1/4"dr 6" extension =V=
Proto #3038 13/16–25/32 DOE wrench

It was a good day today. View media item 40257(even though I spent money I didn't really have)

Flea market today! Normally not a whole lot of stuff except for one guy who knows exactly what he has. Thought I did good today.

IMG_8728.JPG

Wright 1/2" socket set in great shape in the box $20 (two mismatched sockets) and a 23mm Proto for $2. The two shiny armstrong combinations (3/4 and 5/8) fill a hole in the SAE wrench set I've been putting together and cost $3. Everything else was $20 from one vendor who made sure I didn't have any Craftsman since she charges the most for it. Top is all SK, then an Ampco adjustable (non sparking ALBR), a craftsman ratchet, a PLVMB WF ratchet, Snap-on flare crows feet and normal crows feet, a gray(?) snap-on nut driver, a Proto crows foot, a MAC wrench, and a Matco DBE.

OK, only two items yesterday, from yard sellers on my own street (I was also selling,) but for all that, nice scores:

If anyone cares to go back that many pages  LAST weekend I got this camp ax:

attachment.php

And yesterday I was looking though a neighbor's knives, and he gave me this one!

attachment.php

Same Smith and Wesson "Bullseye" as the camp hatchet. it's not the gut hook knife that is supposed to be there, but it is the same style!

attachment.php

And later I found this rifle scope at another neighbors:

attachment.php

Essentially NIB, MAYBE mounted and fired once. He admitted it was an "impulse buy" and decided later he wanted something else. I got it for $40 :D

attachment.php

2.5X - 10X, 40 MM objective compact, AND has that laser on the side of it.

I'm thinking this will go on a bull barreled 10-22, it appears to use the std. Weaver rail mount...

Had a decent day today. I spent a total of $28 for everything including a Danger sign I gave to my father-in-law. The tools and sign totaled $13. They consist of three Proto Professional wrenches (11MM, 9/16th, 11/16th), a Williams 6" adjustable, small Matco wire brush, and 4 brand new grinding discs.

The Tuffy box was a whopping $15. I couldn't pull the money out of my pocket quick enough. The woman selling it said her son had bought it for a Jeep TJ he had since traded in for a Subaru and was happy to see it go since it was taking up room in the garage. I was stoked:rocker:!! Those suckers ain't cheap. Here's a link http://www.extremeterrain.com/tuffy-universal-stereo-ii-tj-tfy04101.html. I am planning on installing it (well the lock box/cup holder section anyway) into a 1991 Isuzu Trooper I am currently doing a 3.4l GM motor swap on.

Picked up a Baldor 8" grinder today with Baldor stand today. He was advertising the grinder for $300 and a large vise with 8" jaws for $200. I asked for pictures of both, none on the Craigslist ad. The vise was 8" jaw width but it was a Chinese vise in poor condition, didn't even have jaw inserts. He sounded like he was desperate to sell the grinder so went to look at it today. Made a deal on it and bought some other stuff too.
Price? Make a guess LOL. Nine4GMC knows!

Bought these at the San Jose Flea Market last week.

$10 for the pair.

I packed them in my carry-on, and sent them thru security.

I was kinda surprised they let me thru.

My wife and I went to an estate sale over the weekend, and we grabbed a few things. I haven't been able to make it to any in a while, so I may have gone overboard. At least she spent some money too.

I don't think I deserve any "you *****", as the overall total was a bit high, but at least I'm not having any buyer's remorse.

If you can't tell, I'm a fan of old fans, oh and cool old lighting too. I believe I missed out on more nugget sockets, but I got the box for $12. The Torkflash was $10 which I just got because it's cool. The receipt is for some sort of dial assortment and shows to have been entered in 1956, but the envelope is stamped 1957, which is interesting. The snap-on case and tools ($6) are all from 1941-1944, but the ratchet is plomb. The mt1 Craftsman lathe tools fit my 1950's Craftsman wood lathe, and were in a bag on the second day for 25% off of $5.

A few things aren't pictured the best of which was an old Federal dial indicator which they thought was a tire gauge:lol_hitti.

The long black vice looking thing in pic 5 is an early 1900s handsaw vise used for sharpening the blade.

The Cosco stool I plan on restoring, and I picture my now two year old son climbing up in it to help me in the garage.
