Does anyone know if Ko-ken and Hexa have anything to do with each other. Are they like a Tawain subsidiary company like Bluepoint is to Snap-on?

nope. nothing. nada. niet.

Their logos are extremely similar, like copyright infringing similar. Are they Ko-ken knock-offs?

Sorry if this GIF causes anyone a seizure but I thought it was the best way to compare the logos.

Seems like they copied a lot of the logo design lines.
seems to me that the copying was a profitable investment for them seeing that you bought the socket set thinking it was Ko-ken...

edit: hope you didn't pay Ko-ken price for those, or, at least, no more than Hecho en Mexico Ko-ken! :D

I only just noticed that amazon are selling koken. Items older than 90 days, so im just slow. Not sure how the prices compare to rakutan. They appear to ship from japan.

The Zeal set wasn't so bad and shipping is of course a factor but some of those Amazon prices were out of bizarro world. Best shop around.

Franzdom,

What is the name and purpose of the red, square steel tool in the upper right corner of the first picture?

Thanks,

Dave

Oh this is actually not Japanese, it is a power steering hose release for BMW.

Nice haul. Those screw pliers are awesome. They really bite. What's that socket? Looks all satin finish.

The socket is a 19mm lug socket actually made of Aluminum.

I went a little Tone tool crazy last weekend. A guy was having what appeared to be an NOS tool sale and I got some great deals!

I am pleased with all these tools with the exception of the ratchet that came with the 1/2" set. It's super sloppy with only a 20 tooth count. But those screwdrivers are built for abuse, of which they will see plenty.

A mate of mine bought some of those square shafted Tone drivers years ago here in the U.K. He only bought 'em because they were cheap but they were quite good quality! I'd get a set if I saw 'em again!

I have the same red square power steering hose release tool that I use on my E46 BMW, picked mine up from FCP Euro for $13

Mecucho, you're going to like those engineer scissors. I have the same pair and use them for just about everything including cutting up chicken jerky to add to my dog's food every night. Great scissors!

I have to say that although I do like my zeal 3/8", I don't necessarily think that it's fantastic. I think the reversible lever is too close to the edge of the head. I have often pushed it out of position with my thumb when I am quickly oscillating it while grabbing it by the head with one hand.

Hozan P-743 crimping tool (for insulated terminals). An excellent tool for crimping electrical terminals.
