Klein screwdrivers are only worth about half of what they normally charge anyway.
One thing about Lowes lately is that I'm seeing them get rid of a lot of professional brands and replace them with a lot of pedestrian type, weekend worroir, DIY'er type tools, both power tools and hand tools. Lots of Firestorm and Black&Decker stuff. A lot of their own store brand stuff too. It used to be that even in theirr hand tool section they used to offer many various brands of hand tools, but now the vast majority of it is all Kobalt store brand stuff. Lowes has also stopped carrying most of the Delta power tools as well. They have very few Milwakee Tool power tools.
Back in January I was at Lowes and bought a Delta bench grinder for $55, it normally sold for $120. I asked why they had so many brand new in-the-box Delta bench grinders on sale, they guy working there said that Delta power tools have now become a non-stock item and they didn't sell near as many as they expected during Christmas time. They just wanted to get rid of the inventory.
Home Depot actually has a good selection of professional grade tools i.e., Hilti power tools, Milwakee Tool, Ridgid hand tools, Vaughan hammers, Malco sheet metal tools. Sadly a lot of folk wrongly think that Ridgid is a Home Depot store brand or that HD has exclusivity on it. Not even close to true. A lot of industrial suppliers have alway sold Ridgid. Even today many Ace hardware stores still sell Ridgid hand tools as they always have. Most of my handful of Ridgid plumbing tools I bought 20 years ago at a local Ace and at a Hugh M Woods store.
Lowes better start stepping up to the plate and remain catering to the pros or they will be the little guy soon.
