I'm looking for an EDC (Every Day Carry) 1/4" Ratchet or bit driver.

The guys over at multitool.org have showed me a ton but I know you guys love garage tools and taking pictures and showing off :D

The smaller the better. Few good examples!

Taken from babola on multitool.org, a Gearwrench "NOVELTY" Ratchet Combo Wrench that comes with a keychain hole.

Last but not least a Topeak set.

Did you ever use it??

I think I did once or twice, but its been probably 8 years. I think its still in my dads tool box, Ill look next time I am over there. It was an awful key chain, it would jam itself into my leg every time I sat down. :lol_hitti

Lowes has a Kobalt set that comes with a nice driver, a bunch of bits, and some sockets for $9.99. Item #: 338358

The husky one wasn't made by Vim. It was made by High Five in Taiwan and was the same as the Blackhawk version.

The VIM version is slightly smaller and has only the 1/4 inch hex size.

I've been wanting to get a little set like that for work. This could come in handy when replacing motor starters/overloads that are mounted behind braces in our machine's cabinets.

Either way, made by Vim or Blackhawk/Proto/Mac, this is a great tool in daily use

Mac or Titan. Craftsman recently came out with a nice little $10 USA made set, not as nice as the Mac or Titan, but much cheaper and easier to obtain.

"Speeder rings"?

The knurled black portion around the head, you can spin it with your fingers vs swinging the entire ratchet.

The first two are part of a three kit set. The third kit is a screwdriver set so I omitted it.

Two different Matco 1/4" and 5/16" drivers. Same part number but different vintage.

I've also never heard of VIM but advanced auto and carid were in the results. I'm going to assume they make tools for the automotive industry?

Advance Auto Parts sells Gearwrench and other tools, but their main thrust is auto parts.

I have both the Craftsman 3 piece set and the Xcelite XL75V set. I think I like the Craftsman set better. It has a knob on the back to turn the bit and seems to hold the bits better.

Fairly certain that Chapman make the Xcelite set.

This might help some of you who are undecided. Both of these can be purchased from HD (husky) or Lowes (kobalt).

Husky is the top piece and it is a larger piece with the nice thumb drive and friction ring (not magnetic).

Kobalt is the bottom piece and has magnetic and no thumb driver.
