Those are similar but are knock offs. Or the snap on is a knock off. The snap on is made by snap on in the USA. Either way they are not the same. I have the otc 5950a angled version and they are Taiwan made and so are the 5950. My guess it the vim and the OTC have the same Taiwan oem. Neither are related in any way to the snap ons.

The 3 at my local sears were all made in france.

I had a cman pair that broke on the first use I thought they were Chinese.

Either way they have a different locking mechanism so's is ratcheting and c man's is single point.

Mayhew cable operated hose clamp pliers are made in France that is or was anyways who is supplying sears with there's. Snap ons I am guessing are made by one of there European owned companies. They definitely different, I have those newer snap ons and they are much more redesigned over those older mayhew originals. I had those once upon a time too.

I just looked up Mayhew Hose Clamp Pliers, and there looks to be at least two different models. One is the Snap-On ratcheting style, which appears to be the Mayhew 28657 (although some sites seem to show the CM style in the picture). The other just has a hook to hold them closed like the Craftsman. Still trying to find the Mayhew number for those, since all the sets I've found so far have the 90 degree head, not the straight tips.

I've been enjoying looking up some of this stuff to compare prices. How are you able to determine what the equivalents are? Is there some secret list somewhere, is it just a spec comparison, or what? I notice some equivalents are not physically similar so I'm guessing that's not a matching criteria. I'd be glad to contribute if I come across something.

Usually I find a tool I want, research numbers and price and sometimes numbers our keywords cross. After that, use the info, pictures, etc. To decide if they are equivalent or just similar.

snappy's is prolly actually made by them...the mac is prolly air cat or proto, and the matcos are either IR if a few years old, or a chinese knockoff of IR if newer

anyway, if you're wanting a YA3000d from snap off, you're in for a wait...my dealer sold one the damned day before i texted him asking for it, and it turns out they ain't releasing them till next month

Matco is using PTP to make many of the air tools for them, I don't think they sell there own tools just make them for other relabelers. Mac also is using them on some tools.

Snap on companies make the ph3050b, probably at a Sioux plant but they could have there own snap on air tool plants as well.

Yup, and a lot of what they offer is available through NAPA as well, not sure if that extends out to Air Hammers though.

Come on now you guys, just because something looks similar doesn't mean it's the same. We seem to be blurring that line lately with some of these... Several companies do actually make their own tools. A lot of tools are going to look alike because they do the same job. Scrapers look the same because well, it's a scraper, what are they going to different?

I bought a silver eagle 1/4" drive set off the matco truck about a year ago and two of the sockets are double stamped silver eagle/ husky. I'll try to remember to snap a pic and see if I can find the part number. The set isn't listed on matcos site anymore. Was one of them buy the air ratchet get the set free type things.
