Hi

Been lurkin for a few days so thought id say how ya goin.

My names Ken. Im 25, from a town called Adelaide in South Australia.
Im a qualified master plumber, I work for a big construction company as well as run my own small business on the side.

I really enjoy welding but im just a self taught beginner really. Ive done some stainless exhausts and intercooler pipes for mates using lobster back bends. I think in the states you call em piecuts. My mates call me kenfab joking around (short for ken fabrications)

Ive got a 9m x 6m shed at home (30ft x 20ft)

I plan on knocking it down though and building a 10x 12 shed there (32ft x 40ft)

I also rent a 250sqm shed with mates that has 2 hoists.

Ive got quite a few projects on the go but to start with im:
restoring a heuer 160 vice that i got for $20
Building a steel/ timber outdoor table.

Ill probably make a garage thread to try and keep myself motivated to actually get through all my projects ( i have a habit of starting 50 things and never finishing them)

Ken: when you say you are knocking down nice size sheds are they in disrepair or just in the wrong space where you want to build a bigger nicer one? it looks like some of your countrymen have already welcomed you and i too appreciate having another member from down under.

i enjoy the challenge of trying to understand what you are all saying and always enjoy your humor.

good luck on the garage building and just ask if you have any questions because i'm sure somebody on here has had the same issue and maybe solved the problem before.

its a fairly old shed, my house was built in 1991 and the shed looks about that old, the guy that owned the house built it himself, and poured the concrete in 3ft x 3ft sections by himself, its also dug into the side of a hill, and i have trouble with ground water seeping up through the concrete. easy fix when your a plumber though haha.

i basically want to knock it down, so that i can fit a hoist in it, and have a bit more room, but its hard because im not sure how long ill live here for.

haha do we really talk that weird? ::beer:

thanks for the welcome

Ken: do you have any pictures to share so maybe we can help you if you have any questions? i remodeled our kitchen back in 1992 and it's ready for another one so on my to do list for one probably next year.

i wouldn't say Aussies talk weird, but you do have some different words for certain items or describing things that i need brushing up on. here's one of our English member's threads which is a pretty good read and i enjoy his writing almost as much as his knowledge and old tools.

good luck with the new garage build and feel free to start a thread and post lots of pictures. then when you get a few followers when you need a little help just ask questions and hopefully you'll get a quick answer.
