They are working on putting them up in northern osage county, but the injuns are in an uproar because they don't get royalties for their mineral rights from the wind mills.

They just need to figure out how to put some slot machines on them, then they will be back to happy, happy!:)

Yeah, I've been thinking about a lift, but I have a bunch of other things I need to get before I buy one. Not sure where I would put the lift when I do get one.

I really need to get my paint bay designed and setup as well as a storage building for the mowers, tillers, weed eaters and other things like that that don't need to be in my shop and take up space. Thinking about getting a 20' connex box for their storage next to my shop.

The wife told me she wanted me to build a covered and walled breezeway between the house and the shop so she could go out there to smoke since it's 18 degrees right now.... Told her we could build her a little 2 car garage off the west side of the house for her to park in and smoke in. Not sure she bought that idea or not.

Spent yesterday getting my 2nd gen running after my son borrowed my 3rd gen when his 1st gen died going up our road to work yesterday morning. Spent half the day charging the batteries up since it was a balmy 18 degrees outside and the truck hadn't been started in several months because the clutch slips pretty bad on it. Finally got it running and took it to town and ordered a 6.0 starter for the mud truck and an organic clutch for the 2nd gen.

I also painted the front windshield frame and the rear fenders yesterday afternoon. windshield frame turned out good, but I'm going to have to sand down and repaint the tops of the fenders again. Had huge runs in the clear and there are some deep scratches still visible. Will hit it with some w/d 150 to smooth it out and then on to 400 and then 600 and see how smooth it gets and then reshoot it with paint and clear. Will have to pick up another quart so I can get the front fenders repainted as I won't have enough now.

Today we moved my son's 68 chevy out of the shop to make room for the 99 so we can put a clutch in it, fix a major oil leak around the vacuum pump area and get ready for the mud org meeting we are having at the shop. Cleaned up where that truck had sat for a year.

Got the old john deere 4010 started and hauled hay to the cows in freezing rain, I love winter... not.

Fixed the 1st gen, needed the fuel filter replaced as it was really clogged bad. While we were at it we found that the stud it screws onto was loose, which made the fuel heater loose. Truck runs much better now.

After that, I put the replacement knuckle back on my daughters 82 chevy and enough of that side so we could put the wheels back on and move it in the shop so it was right up against the door and to make room for the meeting.

Today was my last day of vacation. Time to get some rest back at work.

Friday, I tore into my 99 dodge diesel to track down the massive oil leak that it's had for a long time before I replaced the clutch in it. I tracked it down to the vacuum pump gasket between the vacuum pump and gear case. The lower bolt had loosened up. I ordered a new gasket and will pick it up tomorrow.

Saturday, I sanded down the rear two fenders from the bad paint when I repainted them and repainted them with 2 coats of black and then cleared them. They look much better but I still ended up with a small run on one of them with the clear. I will let them harden for a week or two and then take out the run and then buff it.

I need to pickup more black paint now though to get the two front fenders painted.

Yesterday, since the 99 was down waiting on the gasket, I decided to go ahead and put the clutch in it. After about 4 hours of working on it, I had the clutch out and checked the flywheel. Not a pretty sight. Lots of hot spots, cracking and warping on the flywheel, so I need to order a new one.

Yesterday afternoon, we bolted the other front fender and hood on my daughters race truck and I need to loosen the front radiator support and shift the front to the drivers side a bit as it look like it shifted when my son wrecked it as we can't get the body lines of the hood to line up and close right.

This morning my 05 wouldn't start when I got ready to head to work. Would just crank and crank but not fire off or try to even fire off. Got a light under the hood while my wife cranked it over and a stream of high pressure diesel was shooting out of #4 injector line. FML. So I ended up taking the wife to work in her avalanche and then driving to Tulsa. Got to work an hour and a half later than I normally get in.

Picked up the line at cummins for 26.00 (dodge wanted 67 for the same part). So tonight I'll be replacing an injector line.

Got the clutch back in the 99 with a new flywheel, fixed the oil leak at the vacuum pump and took it for a test drive. Seems to be fixed, and it's just in time as I have a wheel bearing going out in the 05. Never ending it seems.

Today, was shop cleaning day. Spent the whole day sweeping, organizing and cleaning up all the tools from the projects we've been working on and putting them up in their places getting ready for the mud racing org party here next weekend.

Had a busy weekend. Went to replace the wheel bearings on the dually Friday night and started on the bad drivers side. Got it torn down and started on with the new one, had 2 of the 3 bolts in and the third one was tough going in, so I pulled the bolt back out and it was nice and garbaged up. Pulled the bearing piece back off and that one hole had a bunch of what looked like welding slag in it. Ended up putting the other new one on, but the third bolt was ate up bad on the first few threads, so I made a parts store trip to oriellies that night (no luck there), then to napa and the oil field supply store sat morning. Ended up ordering a new bolt for it. Cut the old bolt off and used it to put a few threads in it so I could back the truck out of the shop.

Spent the rest of Saturday getting ready for the Racing org meeting we had at the shop. Smoked 45lbs of beef, 10lbs of pork and 2 whole chickens. Had 50 to 60 people in the shop and used my new workbench for the buffet table.

Yesterday, put the other new wheel bearing on the passenger side assembly on the dually and then we sanded and prepped my daughters mud truck for getting it primed. Spent the early evening getting the truck primed and found a few more spots that I need to fix before we can get it painted, so we will get it wet sanded this week, fix the few spots left and another coat of primer shot and then hopefully, Saturday I can get it painted.

It will be a decal about 24" by 16" or so. With all the power washing we do to the truck, they have to be replaced every couple of seasons atleast.

Had a rather busy Friday thru today. Finally got my daughters truck all painted. Paint job isn't perfect, but it will work for a mud race truck. I'm definitely not used to that water based car paint. It was 60 degrees in the shop and it took forever between coats and it dries really slow. Had 4 fans going as it dries by air flow and not heat.

Thurs night I shot the final coat of primer on the truck and then wet sanded it Friday morning. Then shot 4 coats of base white on it. The first coat was way too heavy and had some massive runs on the cab that I had to wait for full dry and sand out before I could continue on with the other 3 coats. Adjusted the gun down to about half what I normally pickup in material with normal base coat and that seemed to work.

My view coming into the shop this morning. Definitely brightens the place up.

16182397738_f58fcd0829_k.jpg

Today, I wet sanded the top layer of clear that cured overnight, washed the truck down, tacked it and then sprayed a 2:1:1 mixture of clear coat, activator and thinner on it for the final coat.

Truck will definitely stand out. Can't wait to see it outside in the bright sunlight.

Finally got the last few pieces of my race truck painted last night. Front fenders and cover pieces are painted, hood stack ring and power wagon plates are painted. I can start bolting those back on. Have the runs taken care of on the one back fender, just need to buff and polish it.

Agree, that green really pops, I'm sure it will look spectacular in the sun. Question for you, and if you would rather PM me that is fine. If a person were to bring you a vehicle prepped and ready to paint would you be willing to throw the color and clear on it?

Right now, I don't have the time. I'm under the gun to get both of the trucks ready for race season. I really don't have the ideal painting area setup yet to do quality work. It works ok for me and the race trucks, but I do get a small amount of **** in the paint due to the dirty environment.

Last night I worked on my truck. Got the passenger side fender installed, the hood stack installed, hood ornament installed, hood felt on the passenger side installed, removed the pass side brake and cleaned it out of the packed mud.

This weekend out in the shop felt like a bust and nothing was accomplished. Finished getting the front end bolted together on my mud truck and pulled the front calipers off to clean around them before putting the truck the rest of the way back together and the front calipers are frozen and won't slide in any. I then checked the back ones and they are the same way. So I ordered 4 new calipers today from the parts store. will pull them off tonight and take them in tomorrow to get them exchanged.

I then decided that I was going to start on the gear change on my daughter's mud truck so I pulled the back diff apart only to find the pin bolt that locks the spider shaft in place was broken. 2 hours later I had it out and finished disassembling the diff. Went to use the large bearing splitter I bought only to find it wasn't big enough. I did manage to get the new ring gear installed on the diff.

I picked up an even larger bearing splitter today at steves wholesale and had my daughter pick up a couple of new inner pinion bearings for her truck at the parts store so I can take the old ones and make testers out of them by grinding down the inner race so they just slip on to test fit the diff.

The 69 Camaro will eventually be back on the road but it will be a long haul to get there and lots of parts to buy. Needs a new floor and trunk pan. Rear fenders need cut out and replaced. Rear integrated frame is cracked. Need front fenders as the old ones are too ate out. My plans for it once the metal is replaced is to tub it out some, subframe connectors integrated and welded the whole length. An LS motor with 6 speed trans. Plan on adding power brakes with discs on all 4 corners, power steering and AC while I'm at it. Basically making it a pro tour type of car that's nice to drive.

Well, this wasn't my weekend for dealing with parts stores. Had picked up 2 pinion nuts and gaskets for my daughters truck this past week. I finished up the back diff after I got it setup, put the mini spool in. Then I got the new wheels and tires put on the truck and she installed the driveshaft. After getting the front setup and in spec with the new gears and the Spartan locker installed in the open carrier, I tore it back apart to put the new bearing and crush washer on. Got it stabbed back in and went to put the 2nd pinion nut I picked up on and it wouldn't fit. I then spent 2 hours driving to Tulsa to the 46th street oriellys as they were the only one that had them in stock. The right part number was 741A961, but I ended up with one 741A961 and one 714A961. I have 3 oriellys in a 20 mile radius to my house, but they never seem to have what I need. Got the front diff finally almost done last night with new u joints in the axles, new seals everywhere, repacked and coated bearings in marine grease.

Today, I finish installing the wheel hubs, brakes and new manual locking hubs I replaced the auto hubs with. Then I started noticing that something wasn't right with the interaction of the axles with the Spartan locker. I'd turn the axles and just hear grinding and occasionally it would catch. Ended up pulling the Spartan locker out and counted the teeth on the two end caps. I had ordered a 28 spline Spartan for a gm 8.5 and that's what the box said, but the end caps had 30 splines. So the front diff is done with the gear change and everything else but the locker. Will have to call them on Monday when they open up to get the right parts shipped out.

With my son wrecking my daughters truck, he broke the leaf spring bolt on the drivers side. Installed the passenger tire and dropped it to the ground then jacked up the drivers side frame to get the broken pin out for the leaf. Ran to orielly's to get another one and the two guys kept trying to sell me u bolts and didn't know what I was talking about. I finally looked it up on their website and gave them a part number to look up. They finally found one in the back.

I got the new bolt installed and used a ratchet strap to pull the front axle forward. Started in with the new u bolts and found that the threads didn't go far enough to get it tightened down good. So tomorrow I've got to pick up another set of u bolts that are shorter.

We spent 2 hours this evening installing all of the truck stickers on both trucks. My main logo's didn't go on good at all and one was messed up before I even touched it.

On the good news side. I got my new 35' + 5' gooseneck trailer ordered Friday. Should be ready in 3 weeks. Has 2 10k axles, two ramps with a popup center, dual jack legs with toolbox between them, low deck and led lights.

Got the front axle fixed back up last night and removed the anti sway bar. Put the bed on the truck last night too. Starting to look pretty good.

Last few days, we've gotten the headliner in my son's truck that his grandmother covered with new material that he picked out. Got the lights and grill on my daughters truck. Installed the new calipers on my mud truck and had new hoses made for the back to remove the hard lines on the axle that get crushed every season because of my tow hooks. Have a few more things I need to finish on my truck tonight to get it ready for the vo tech car show this weekend I'm putting it in. Need to finish getting the radiator secured, get it down on all 4 tires, clean out the cab of the truck, dust the truck off, finish mounting the rear fenders, add my zinc additive and clean the windows. I also need to get my son's tailgate painted and cleared tonight.

I also started making my ujoint shields for the truck. Took a foot long piece of 6" pipe casing, sliced to 4" wide pieces from it with the torch and then cut them in half. We then welded pieces of strap to create the bolt flanges. Now I just need to build the mounts and 2 more driveshaft loops.

No, for the org I'm adding the shields for, I just have to have the visible joints covered and if the driveshaft is longer than 24", have 2 loops, if shorter than 24, then 1 loop.

that looks like a lot of brake hose hanging around. You can't run hard line to help keep those hoses from being in the way?
